A fantastic direct ocean view with afternoon sunlight (Unit 10, upstairs).

A perfect, pristine hotel with a great staff seemingly at the "beach at the end of the world" (it's not, but there's a cool vibe of solitude and peace we enjoyed). We were nearly late to check in so called in and were told not to worry, our room was ready, and we'd have keys. While we did arrive a few minutes before the front desk closed for the evening, that was the first of many thoughtful touches we enjoyed at Moonstone. We were on the second floor with a kitchen, Keurig and separate bedroom. The unit was immaculate with nice touches (see photos), and the picture window view was worth the price alone. Our photo of the interior is poor; there was more light and well, less junk before we unpacked. WiFi was good and there were no infrastructure issues at all, as would be expected at a hotel of this quality. We noticed EV charging stations in the parking lot. You walk across the dune (it's a shorter distance than it seems in the photos) to the wide beach, and along the way there are chairs to sit and sip in the dunes, with solar lights. Another nice touch. The kitchen was fully stocked for cooking, and we had a nice selection of K-Cups available, with more in the front office if needed. There is a small "one of everything" store in Moclips, and we also stopped in Aberdeen at a grocery store for supplies before coming in. We received a card from Moonstone staff after we'd returned home. The last of many kindnesses we received.

The view from our bed, nothing better than waking up, and the first thing you see is the ocean right in front of you!

Moonstone, Beach Motel is a hidden gym. I have been coming here for over 32 years. What always drew me was the caring of the staff, the pristine cleanliness of the place. Sparkling, clean windows to enjoy the wonderful oceanfront views. The very homelike coziness of the rooms. Even more so now with the brand new buildings, we had the two bedroom suite with complete kitchen, all the utensils and dishware , nice set of cooking wear and best of all, a dishwasher! They have pares of comfy Adirondack chairs placed along the seagrass for viewing the ocean. Oh did I mention they are pet friendly? The best way to describe our stay is to say we've already booked and paid for next year's anniversary !!

My favorite flower. Ocean strawberries. Very sweet when rippened.

This motel is brillant. Kate, the front desk staff was our saving grace. She checked us into her favotite room, which had incredible views, was sparkling clean and had all the amenities we needed... a mini-kitchen, amazing views, easy access to the beach, 24hr. on site management and parking. If you read my review about the ill treatment by the management company "By the Sea" and refusal of a pre-booked room at the High Tide, we came here by accident and were treated like royalty. All of the management team (on site) which there are 4, were friendly, helpful and worked hard to keep everything in great condition. I agree with Lauri D. our room had the biggest shower, with river rock floor and luxiourious towels. However, our room had a microwave, 2 burner stove, a mid size refrigerator and dishwasher... plus it had a two person private balcony. This motel has room sizes for everyone... from studios to 2 bedrooms. They welcome pets as well. if you choose to vacation here you will be well received and pampered.

    Beach at Moonstone in evening

Ideal spot to get away from it all. This motel is recently refreshed, and the rooms, decor, and appointments are first rate. Roomy open-plan living, dining and kitchen areas with every appliance you'll need (the local restaurant choices are not bad, but very limited). Spotless bathrooms with new rain showers. Pet friendly rooms are available. The staff is warm and super helpful. And it overlooks a beach that is quiet and uncrowded, ideal for long, contemplative walks (with or without a four legged companion). Will definitely be back!

    Doggy welcome amenities

This was such a cute little hotel! We stayed on the bottom floor in a dog friendly room and they left us a food bowl, two treats, a dog towel and big dog blanket. The hotel was very clean and cozy. It came with two small burners, cooking tools and was very modern looking. The only thing I would recommend is bringing measuring cups (if needed) and if you're doing more cooking, bring a pot or more utensils. There was the bare minimum. All the units have a view of the beach and we had two very comfy chairs right on our patio. There is also a little gas station a few minute drive away. The gentleman at the front desk was very kind when we checked in and we loved this stay!

off the back deck of Suite #5. Nothing but beach to view.

Late September weekend. Besides one other person we were the only ones in the motel. Stayed in Suite #5 for pet-friendliness. I'm used to 'rustic' beach houses, and this place puts the Rust in rustic. It was a bit high-priced for the condition it's in ($150/night), but it's a killer view of a beautiful and mostly unpopulated beach. Full kitchen. Bring your own coffee and fixings, it was rough to get up Saturday morning and drive a mile to Moclips General Store, but it was nice that they had plates and silverware.

    200 sand dollars!

However, the condo did meet/exceed our expectations, which were quite low based on pictures and reviews. With the good price we paid and the cleanliness, it's easy to overlook the worn-out (never updated) look. So, 4+ stars for the condo. But, 1 star for Recreation Stays- the property management company. We did a "last minute" booking (escaping the wildfire smoke in the Seattle area), three days before arrival. We never got a confirmation email. We called a couple of hours later and they confirmed the booking. But, still no confirmation email or check-in instructions. When we left (from Seattle area) for the High Tides, still nothing from Recreation Stays. We called many times (15?) before we left and while driving in the car, using different numbers we found on the internet- nobody answered the phone (even though they state "24/7 white-glove guest communication"). Just the same message saying no one is available. My wife did find something about texting them in order to get a response. And they did respond!!! But, they had paperwork we needed to fill out before they would send instructions. It was a ridiculous amount of work- a multi-page questionnaire, upload pictures of drivers license, upload a selfie. Give a credit card for a damage deposit (even though we paid upfront for the condo). They finally responded with the check-in instructions. And you can't check in until 5:00 pm? The office closes at 6:00 and we weren't going to arrive until 7:00. Thankfully we had no further problems getting into the condo. And, a shout-out to Jerry, the office manager at High Tides. Incredibly nice man! But the property management, Recreation Stays, is the worst rental experience I have ever had. Unexcusable!

I specifically used Seabrook's website filters to search for homes that were available on our dates and included a hot tub. When we checked in today, we were surprised to find there wasn't one. I immediately called Guest Services, expecting they would help resolve what appeared to be a booking or website error. Instead, I was essentially blamed for the mistake. I explained exactly how I had searched for the property, but the representative, who identified himself as Tylor, said that without proof there was nothing he could do. I work in marketing and sales, so I understand that websites and booking systems can occasionally have errors. What disappointed me most wasn't the mistake--it was the complete lack of effort to make it right. When guests are paying premium prices, customer service should focus on finding a solution, not assigning blame. To make matters worse, Tylor told me there were no other homes available with hot tubs, so moving us wasn't an option. Out of curiosity, I checked Seabrook's website myself while on the phone and found several available homes that listed hot tubs. Whether that was another website error or inaccurate information from Guest Services, I don't know. Either way, it only added to the frustration. When I asked to speak with a supervisor, I was told that Tylor was the supervisor. We've always enjoyed Seabrook, but this experience completely changed our perception. Mistakes happen. Great customer service is measured by how a company responds when they do. Unfortunately, Seabrook failed us on both the booking experience and the customer service, and they've lost our family's business.

This means someone is not being truthful. What made things worse was how difficult it was to get in touch with anyone. I tried multiple times via phone and email with very delayed or no responses. For a place that once felt welcoming and reliable, the lack of hospitality and basic customer service was really surprising. Unfortunately, this experience has completely changed how we feel about staying here again.

I can't imagine staying in a "normal" room without a kitchen again, the ability to make meals elevates this older building to a much higher rating. The third floor is an entire penthouse and would seem to be the most private with the least noise. There are only stairs so if you have handicap travelers book on the first floor. We also didn't have too many options - President's Day weekend books up fast - and this seemed to have most of what we were looking for. The cottage is one of four closely placed units on a lot. As in, the view from one of the windows is directly across to another cabin's front door. Despite this, it was pretty quiet and we didn't see much of the other occupants. That could be different in summer, when doors are open and people are outside more. Periwinkle is quite small, essentially a studio, so it's really best suited for one person or a couple. The bedroom area is separated from the main room only by sheer curtains, and the windows have venetian blinds and no curtains, so there's a LOT of light in the mornings. It was very cold when we checked in, but quickly warmed up with the heater and gas fireplace. There is a tea kettle, coffee maker, and basic kitchen supplies and utensils, though probably not enough to do serious cooking. You can see the water from the windows, and the beach is just a few blocks away. The decor isn't to my taste - bright green and blue with lots of art glass and wicker - but it's fine. Now for the weird stuff. - There is NO WIFI in this unit, even though other units come with wifi - their suggestion is that you go to the espresso stand a block away. This wouldn't have been such an issue except that we had no phone coverage either, so it was impossible to look things up, get maps, call for reservations, etc. Or, you know, call the management office in case of an emergency. - A lot of things are semi-broken or poorly maintained (missing adjustment rod on blinds, missing heater knob in bathroom, DVD/VHS player missing remote and only kinda works). There's no dresser or suitcase rack to store clothes, just a small wardrobe by the door that's already full of cleaning supplies. The headboard is like a picket fence with the tops sawed down - I don't know why it's even there, because it's not decorative (you can't see it when the bed is made) and it's dangerous with sharp edges right next to your head! The shower curtain is way too long and trails a lot of fabric into the tub, which gets in the way and never fully dries. And so on. - There are very few services or really anything nearby, other than the aforementioned espresso stand and a couple of convenience stores. You basically have a 20-minute drive to Ocean Shores if you want a restaurant, bar, grocery store, or anything else. That might be a plus for some! But I don't think we realized how little there was to do nearby. Overall, it worked, and it's probably better in warm weather, when there's more to do outside and you're not constantly inside noticing all the broken stuff. But I personally wouldn't stay at the Periwinkle again or recommend it to friends.

The description of the path to the dunes said it was 200 feet. We measured it to be 1,000 feet. The path needed work - railroad ties every so often with gravel in between the ties. Vegetation growing over the path. A person that is compromised would be stranded as it is a VERY difficult climb back to the cabin. The ramp leading to the front door needs railings. The floors are uneven and soft. If the carpet was removed, one would probably see rotten wood. The screen door latch to the deck did not work. Needs a new locking mechanism. Railings on the deck were loose. No gutters, and boards from the roof were rotting. TV is basic. VERY few channels. NO wifi. Bathroom is too small, shower head is too low. Kitchen has very small amount of counters to work on. One drawer of utensils crammed inside. Lighting is poor. Very difficult to see/read at night. Deck flooring is uneven, and tripped on it. Foundation is on cinder blocks that have wedges of wood to level the home. The owner does not put one cent into maintenance, or upgrades. The only thing good about our experience was the view. We packed up and left early the morning of the 8th as it was so depressing, and not at all what was represented by the photos. It is shameful and unconscionable that Pacific Beach and Beyond would have this dump in their inventory.
