The fireplace with the 8 bundles of wood delivered each day was tons of fun, and the views of the beach from #15 are fantastic. We got a gorgeous sunset one of the nights. We cooked a couple times in the full kitchen, and drove to Seabrook for lunch on another day. It's a low-tech throwback cabin experience with DVDs to borrow from the lodge and almost no cell reception, just a landline phone to call the lobby from (there is wifi though). Books up early because it's just such a fun place to stay! read more

My husband and I stayed here in March for three nights. We loved it. While our cabin could be described as rustic, primarily it was clean, comfortable, and well appointed. The staff members we met were very helpful. I can't even recall how I learned about this place, but I'm so glad I did. My husband and I were planning a road trip from California to Washington to visit our daughter and her family, and we wanted to visit the coast while we were there. We had planned to do a fair amount of exploring in the area, but we had a hard time pulling ourselves away from the spectacular view from our deck. We have been wanting to stay at this Resort for years, and I was so glad we were FINALLY able to visit. First impression is the grounds are immaculately taken care of. Various access to beach are plentiful. I felt at home immediately upon entering our rustic, spotless cabin. We slept like babies both nights. The star gazing and sunsets were SPECTACULAR! It was very windy during our trip so no bonfires on the beach, but we still got to roast S'mores in the fireplace, which the resort supplies the wood for free. Pretty much off the grid, so don't expect much cellphone service, but they do have a landline they allow you to use at no additional charge and a HUGE variety of movies they lend you to watch. By far my favorite place to stay when visiting the Washington coast. Be forewarned theres minimal choices of restaurants nearby, but the cabins have full kitchens that are pretty much stocked with all the essentials to cook and bake, as well as a gas BBQ on the deck. read more

We came here for our mini honeymoon after getting married. We stayed in cabin 14 and loved every minute of it. The space was clean and stocked with all the necessities. We loved having a wide view of the ocean with half the walls lined with windows. Very breathtaking view and so calming. The best part is they are dog friendly! Our two pups loved their time here as well. They got to run around the beach with us and cozy up next the the fire. Loved that they provide new firewood every day as well. I didn't want to leave! My family has been coming to this resort since I was a kid in 1965, and over the years have watched it go to ruin only to be nicely revived by new owners. It's a great place. However, I absolutely hate that it's run as a VRBO (Vacation Rental By Owner). This is not a private home where requiring a deposit and a cleaning fee makes sense. This is a hotel. It's time to start using the hotel business model. Plus, I just had to cancel my reservation that is months away, and was charged $50. What for? Charging a fee when the reservation is cancelled within a week of the stay makes sense, but when it's 4 months away? That's just money-grubbing. So, even though I think it's a wonderful place and even worth the high price, I just needed to have my say about the idiotic business model. If you were to change it to an actual hotel business model, I would have absolutely no complaints. read more

We've had such a fantastic trip that we've already booked a return visit and we haven't even left yet! This place is truly amazing. The views are phenomenal, the cabins are well appointed and comfortable, and the overall feel is just fantastic! We brought our dogs, Bowser and Kiwi too, and they've been running around on the beach off their leashes and meeting tons of dogs - I think they're having an even better time than we are! So, if you're looking for a relaxing vacation, look no further! We stayed in cabin 3 and we'll be staying in this cabin again - it has fantastic views and is a great size for couples. There is no restaurant on the property, but there is a general store with all the basic food supplies you would need. All the cabins have kitchens with bakeware, pots, pans, plates, etc etc. There are some restaurants that aren't too far if you were interested in driving to eat, but there really isn't a need to leave unless you really want to. read more

What a great place! We enjoyed our stay here and will definitely be returning again. The cabins are very comfortable, quiet and private. The beach is wonderful and overall it's just a relaxing location. For those with dogs, you can tell it's a very dog friendly place. They supply stainless food and water bowls as well as towels for your furry friends. Another nice feature for those with dogs is that there's a hose at the entrance of the cabin to be able to wash your dogs feet. They also have quite a large selection of DVD's to rent free of charge as well as several board games. They also have puzzles in the cabins as well. We enjoyed walking on the beach, going to nearby cute towns, and state parks. Great getaway! read more

We really had a great stay here with our year old golden retriever pup. It was her 1st birthday and she had a great time at the beach and in the walking trails. We met a lot of nice well behaved dogs ( and people!). So many little touches like firewood stacked near the front door of our cabin, dog dishes and towels, even a nice Bluetooth speaker was furnished. The on premise store had what we needed and at very reasonable prices. We were in cabin 23 which is set back from the water and was perfect for us. Very friendly staff, too. Beautiful grounds. I recommend to everyone especially dog parents. read more

Dog friendly! Dog towels, and food & water bowls were provided. My pooch felt right at home. There are several stations with waste bags throughout the property. People were doing a great job of cleaning up after their dogs, which was nice. If you have a smaller dog, it's likely they can fit through the railing on the back deck, at least on cabin 26, so just be sure to check that. My dog is about Corgi size and was just small enough to fit through, luckily I noticed before he could make a break for it. Cellphone service is elusive in this area, but the resort has free wifi and free landline calls. We did get spotty cell service occasionally while down at the beach. There are a couple of different trails for beach access that are walking distance, other beach access is a short drive away. We were in cabin 26. The cabin's décor was lovely and had comfortable furnishings. The kitchen was well equipped and had most items you'd need, pots, pans, plates, etc. The only items you'd probably want to bring are foil and maybe some plastic wrap. There was a small, charcoal grill on the back deck. The fireplace was a nice perk and was restocked with wood every day. The view from the back deck was amazing. The only downside of cabin 26 is that it is connected to cabin 27, so it was less private than we would have liked. If you're looking for more privacy, I recommend going with cabin 28 if it's available. 28 is the most secluded, it does not have wifi or telephone service though. All in all, we enjoyed our stay here and plan on coming back. read more

Though I had romanticized this place a bit in my head, reality hit hard. We tried to check in early, but first no one was in the office. We came back a little later and were told that check-in was at 4 pm. Fine, we'll go drive around in the rain for 3 hours (we're flexible like that). At 4, I had to listen to the cleaning gal bitch at the front desk person how she was too busy, and our cabin wasn't ready. We were told to come back at 4:30 (we had now officially been in our car for 12 hours living like hobos). At 4:30, we were given keys to a "better, ocean-view cabin" (believe me, we'd driven by our originally assigned cabin, and it was a dump). This place was so run-down that the front door didn't open all the way and the bathtub had a lot of mold everywhere. I've stayed at all sorts of places but even this was too low for me. It was just too depressing, especially after living out of our car in the rain all day. We paid over $100 for this room, with a pet deposit! Believe me, our dog coudn't have done any damage that could have made that place worse! Sorry Iron Springs. You need an overdue facelift and a lesson in customer service! read more

Stayed in Cabin 14 for three nights in November. First time at Iron Springs and first time visiting Copalis Beach and Ocean Shores. This place is wonderful. Remote, quiet, picturesque, relaxing, cozy. Our cabin had the kitchen, dining table, couch & two comfy swivel chairs, TV/DVD and fireplace on one side and on the other side were the bedroom and bathroom. The two areas are divided by a partial wall housing the fireplace (which is only open on the living room side). Beautiful interior. Wood floors and carpets in living area and carpet in the bedroom. Futon couch that can be converted into a bed. Skylight in the kitchen. TONS of windows, along the entire back wall and on the side walls that give incredible views of the beach and waves. There are a few trees on the cliff edge, great for bird watching and adding extra interesting elements to those ocean and sunset pictures. Kitchen is fully equipped: stove, oven, large refrigerator, plenty of utensils and dishes, toaster, coffee maker, dish washer, sponge, both types of dishwashing soap, pans, various other cooking and other items normally found in a kitchen. Everything we needed was there. They provide quite a bit of firewood and kindling for the fire - you might need to bring some newspaper for it. There are two thermostats, one in living area and another in bedroom, for the baseboard heaters. They worked well. In addition to the sliding glass door leading to the deck, there is a small portion of one window in the bedroom that opens so you can listen to the waves at night, and the small kitchen window also slides open. All windows have canvas blinds that roll up and down. The neighboring cabin to the north is the closest, beach view is unobstructed, and the neighboring cabin on the south side is far away down a cliff. When you're inside the cabin it feels like there aren't any other cabins nearby. They say this cabin 14 has the best views and I have to say, I don't think it can be beat. We traveled into Ocean Shores a couple times for groceries. Recommend the fish and chips at Mike's. One night we drove down to Twin Harbors area south of Westport and had an exciting adventure digging for large razor clams. The beach near Iron Springs is great for walks. The general store at Iron Springs is PACKED with just about anything you would need (if you have a standard diet - not much vegetarian/vegan stuff though). They even stock beer, wine, other refrigerated and frozen items. Their famous cinnamon rolls are kept in the freezer. I love cinnamon rolls so had to try them. Personally, I didn't think they were that good. It's enough for two or three people. Since they're frozen you have to let them thaw overnight then cook for 30 mins in the morning. We have added Iron Springs to our favorite destinations list and will definitely be back, hopefully for even longer next time. read more

The Ocean Shores area has a lot of resorts of varying quality. I'm glad I can safely say that we've found one that we'll consistently visit. Iron Springs is a series of cabins along the Pacific coastline. They range in size, but all of them have the same setup; TV, wood fireplace, deck and a small kitchen compliment the master bedroom and guest room. The entrance to Iron Springs features a general store and a shelf with a decent amount of movies to choose from. PROTIP: The homemade sugar cookies are good, but expensive. What immediately sticks out when you arrive in your cabin is the view. Our cabin looked out over the ocean past trees hosting blue jays. Photogenic doesn't begin to describe it. What sold Iron Springs for us was it's pet friendliness. The cabins include towels and mats for when your dog gets messy (It will.). These are necessary, because pets aren't allowed on the furniture. Good luck telling that to a restless puppy after a long car trip to a bunch of new smells. Food aside, the cabins are stocked with whatever you'll need on your trip, and the staff will restock fuel for the fires, which is also necessary, because we used a lot of newspaper and kindling to get things going. Last but not least, was the highlight of our visit. On a clear night, the amount of stars visible is ten times what we'd see at home. Booking a cabin at Iron Springs is a pricy endeavor, and openings are few and far between, but it's worth your time to visit. read more

My boyfriend and I just returned from a very relaxing three nights in Cabin #2. We were wanting to take a lazy winter getaway somewhere our dog could come along, and Iron Springs certainly delivered!! The cabin was stunning. Very modern and clean, comfy king sized bed, wood stove, L-shaped deck, incredible view... it was the perfect setting to hole up. We spent our days sleeping in and playing on the beach and our nights watching movies and feeding the wood stove. Just below the cabin was access to the a shallow creek we waded across to get the the beach (or if you don't feel like wading in January, there is Beach access 100 yards of so down the road from the resort entrance). Our dog, Michi, had a blast swimming in the creek and tearing around on the beach. The cabin was well equipped for managing a wet, sandy dog with a hose by the front door, plenty of absorbent dog towels. We had the beach almost to ourselves aside from a few other guests and people out digging for razor clams at sunset. Our cabin was just up the hill from the office, making it very convenient to stroll down the driveway to check out DVDs each afternoon. The Office boasts a very impressive DVD library, plenty of board games, and a pantry where you can buy basically any grocery item you may have forgotten. The one thing I wished I had looked into more before the trip was clamming. Licenses and equipment rentals are both available in the office, unfortunately the beach was closed for recreational clamming the days we were there. Next time I will make a point to schedule our trip around a razor clam dig so we can feast like kings. We did get to see plenty of tribal diggers out harvesting on our evening walks, which was an experience in itself! I am already recommending Iron Springs to my friends and coworkers. I've been vacationing in the Copalis area for 30 years. We gave it up for Newport, OR for a few years since our usual stomping grounds became horribly run-down and sketchy, but after trying a couple private vacation homes, we are glad to have found the "new" Iron Springs Resort. We wanted to come for a three day weekend in January and thought the off-season rate of $229 sounded reasonable. By the time they added all the extra fees such as $40/night for the the dogs PLUS a cleaning fee and the tax, it was $1000 for the three nights. That's just too much for us to do as often as we'd like even with the winter rates. We stayed in cabin 28 which is at the far north end of the resort at the end of a gravel drive up a big hill and it feels very secluded in a lovely, peaceful way. We did not feel like we were in a crowded resort, but rather had a five acre lot all to ourselves. The cabin is on the edge of a high bluff (hope it's still there in five years!) and has stunning views of the ocean and also of the forest. Honestly, this is probably one of the best cabins we've ever rented. Everything was very comfortable, clean, up-to-date and tasteful. The stand-out of this cabin is the kitchen. It has a huge ocean-facing picture window across a long counter and a skylight above that. The cookware was better than most stand-alone vacation homes I've rented and there was plenty of cabinet space for our own groceries/belongings. If I lived in that cabin I would be very happy with the kitchen. Our bedroom had two huge windows (north and east facing) looking into the trees. It was gorgeous (although there were no closets or dressers or anything. Just suitcase on the floor...no other option). The eating space had sliding glass door looking to the ocean (west) and also picture window to the forest (east). The living room was small but comfortable and great care was taken to make good use of the space including two little ottomans that fit under the coffee table which was great for a group doing a puzzle or playing cards. We loved the binder with the information for the cabin, especially the article about the history of the resort and it's prior owner, Olive. We also love how the new owner, the True family, has taken care to maintain the resort's ecosystem and also reuse some of the materials from the prior buildings. We were pleasantly surprised by daily visit from housekeeping staff who offered to replenish towels, paper towel, toilet paper and firewood. We are subtracting a star (almost two) because: 1) The cabin is one story, but there is about a four inch difference between the living room floor and the kitchen floor. There is also about an eight inch step down from the living room into the bathroom. The four of us were tripping all weekend. One night when I went to the bathroom during the night I forgot and I took a pretty bad fall. I'm really lucky I didn't clock my head. Seriously...this is a major safety issue. 2) While we loved the seclusion of our cabin, it was a pretty long trek to the beach. But at the same time, the sardine can nature of the other cabins all being crammed in together really didn't appeal to us. 3) $1000 per weekend during winter seems pricey. We'd also like to see rates expressed in a more all-inclusive (up-front/honest) way rather than advertising a cabin at $229 which really costs $100 more than that. We will definitely consider Iron Springs again and will recommend it to friends as well. So many of the places on that part of the coast are total DUMPS and Iron Springs really is a big step up in accommodations if you can pay more and tolerate the trek to the beach (which includes a short walk along the main highway). read more

We did a weekend stay just to get away. We rented Cottage #2 and when we walked in, we were pleasantly surprised with the furnishings and wood burning stove. Everything was in excellent condition. Although they do provide charcoal grills, I did set up my Weber 2200 and grilled steaks and potatoes for dinner, it was really nice. The staff is really friendly and helpful, the guy who delivers the wood and I chatted for quite some time. It is near Ocean Shores, but far enough away that you do not get the crowds. Access to the beach is really easy and the wife and I had a nice long stroll to Copalis Rock and watched some guys wade out to fish. At night, the beach was invaded by a couple of hundred people looking for razor clams which was pretty interesting. I would definitely come back to this place. read more

I've gone to Iron Springs a few times over the years, and for a while there it was getting pretty run down. The renovations make the cabins seem brand new. All new moldings, windows, granite counters, and plumbing fixtures. They retain the rustic feel, without making you feel like you're roughing it. Get one of the cabins on the bluff -- the views are incredible. All of the cabins are dog friendly. They all have wood floors, and there is no doggy smell. If you want to escape for a few days of peace and quiet...this is the place for you. read more

The cabins are beautiful- very modern and has everything you could ask for. We stayed in a pet friendly room and we all felt at home. Even though the resort was sold out, it was very quiet and peaceful. We felt like we were the only ones there. No cell reception (that's not a bad thing) but strong wifi and land line in the room. The kitchen was fully stocked and the lobby has a great selection of items in case you forget anything or need another bottle of wine. We will stay here again for sure! read more

Our three families have been coming to Iron Springs Resort for years now. In fact, my wife and her family have been coming since her childhood. Today, something very concerning happened that everyone should be aware. We have an upcoming reservation this summer and all of a sudden I received an email that the balance of $917 was paid with my card on file. This is weird as we didn't authorize the payment and the payment isn't due for months. Since the reservation was made last summer, it was way out of the ordinary. I called my wife and mother in-law to see if they know what happened. Neither had any idea of why. I called the resort and was told an error had occurred while updating the sales tax on the account and I had been charged. They supposedly discovered the error and cancelled the payment. My call was about 30-40 min. after the error and I conveyed my displeasure that they hadn't called me to let me know of the error in the first place. They should definitely have called me immediately. I also reminded them that even though they cancelled the payment, the charge will take up to 10 days to come off my account and this could be problematic for some travelers. I asked for the GM to call me. I did immediately after get a call from the office worker who was very apologetic. I reminded her I still needed a call from GM. He did so about 15 min later and couldn't have been less sincere. He seemed annoyed throughout the call and even after I reminded him that his staff made an unauthorized charge of over $900 on my card and I was going to be impacted by that charge for the next 10 days his response was, "What do expect me to do?" That's when I asked for an apology. It came very reluctantly. read more

We stayed at Iron Springs a few weeks ago, and I have been meaning to review since we left, intending to give it five stars, six if I could. Like many others, my family had been coming there for my whole childhood, renting 3 or 4 cabins at a time. I was really sad to hear that it had become so run down in recent years, and so excited that it was being renovated by new owners. I booked a cabin for 3 nights right away, despite that it is a little on the spendier side for my family. (over $1000.00 after all said and done) However, with all the amazing memories I had of this place, I knew it would be well worth it, and it absolutley was. The cabins and grounds are absolutly gorgeous. The same as I remember, but with a lot of great changes. You can definatly tell a lot of thought and care was put into everything. The beach was as beautiful as I had remembered, and we had an amazing vacation. I have been recommending this place to everyone since we went. However, today I recieved a phone call from an Iron Springs employee asking me if I wanted to "Just go ahead and purchase the 4 dog towels that were in my cabin" All right, I get there are people with sticky fingers. I am not one of them. I mean if you are paying $300 a night, you probobly don't need to steal dog towels. Especially if like me, you have no dog. Anyway, I told her I didn't even see any dog towels, and that I didn't think they were ever in the cabin. I asked that since we didn't have a dog, if maybe house keeping didn't put any in the cabin. She assured me, in a nice and snotty tone, that they would've absolutley been in the cabin. Anyway, long story short, just left a really bad taste in my mouth. Wouldn't you maybe call the person and ask them if they had the towels, had taken them mistakingly, or if they ever saw them at all, before you would ask them if they would like to "purchase them" with an accusing tone to your voice? I just think that's horrible representation of such a wonderful place, and I have worked in customer service. It's sad that I came home from there with such an amazing feeling about this place and a lot of that has been erased now, by one rude person. I'm glad I hadn't written my review yet, as I would've had to have gone back and taken away 3 stars. I was really excited about this place, as a matter of fact my husband and I were just talking about what a great time it was, and that we wanted to take our little girls back for longer next year. Now I'm not sure if we will be back, which really sucks, as I was looking forward to starting this tradition with my own kids. I, however, don't like pretty much being accused of stealing by a condescending lady. Perhaps IF we come back I'll take an inventory of everything in the room and report that to the main office before we begin our stay. That way if something comes up missing, they don't think I am some sort of cleptomaniac. read more

We have been coming to Iron Springs for decades, but had stopped going in the early 2000's because it had gotten so run down. We decided to go back this weekend to check out the new renovations. The place is beautiful, that's for sure. The cabins are pretty well stocked, although both in our cabin and the one next door that our group rented, the ovens were either cheap or needed a new element- they never seemed to work right. The place is pretty spendy now, which suits the nice upgrades. However, the customer service was pretty awful. First, we stayed in cabins that are in a shared building (directly above) the groundskeepers residence, which was just weird. My mom went outside one evening to find the shirtless groundskeeper man hanging out against a tree. They were super nice and do a great job, however I think it's strange to have their home right underneath guests (just as much for their sake as ours!) The futons in both cabins were funky and obviously had been broken a couple of times. Neither would lay flat and stay stable as a bed, despite following the directions. The place is sure to remind you over and over that you have to check out by 11am or face some steep late charges. On the morning of our checkout, the water to the whole resort was turned off. Nobody let us know about this, we found out the hard way. It's pretty difficult to shower, make breakfast, and do the dishes (as you are supposed to before leaving) with no running water and make it out by 11. After 30 minutes of no water, we called the office, who told us they were aware of the problem and the water would be back in 20 minutes. Luckily that was the case. We called and asked for a later checkout. The lady on the phone was immediately snippy. "How much time do you want?" We asked for an extra hour. "Well, 30 minutes is the absolute latest we can do." We explained that since we had no water for an hour, making it difficult to get out of there, an hour seemed fair. "Well, I didn't get your call until 8:30." When we called at that time, she knew there was a problem, so it's not as if they didn't know how long the water was off. We ended up just hustling to get out by 11:30. When we checked out , the lady was equally snippy. I don't expect to have my butt kissed, but an apologetic and helpful response would have been nice, even if they couldn't give us an extra hour. The lady was rude and defensive, and for the price you pay here, guests deserve better. Clearly they have upgraded everything but the hospitality and customer service... read more

I have been going to Iron Springs for many years with my family and was excited to go back to see the new remodel. While the amazing view hasn't changed, the price and the service sure has. The cabins were clean, the bed was super cozy and the new touches were nice. However the price has nearly doubled. I was most upset about the nearly 45.00 cleaning fee. I have never been charged such a fee and I feel it should be part of the rate. I ended up paying a little over 250.00 for one night after taxes and fees. If I am going to pay that much for a room I expect more than a view. I expect at least some powdered cream and sugar to go with my coffee, some tea and a DVD player, non of which was provided. Overall while the place itself is and always will be nice it is not worth the price anymore. read more

We've just returned from a 3 day stay at Iron Springs and it was nearly perfect. From reading the reviews, I can validate some of the things that have been said. So here's my take: 1) Recent Remodel: From the reviews it sounds like they did a major overhaul around 2010-11? Whatever they did, the results were splendid (and from some of the old photos I would have had a problem with the older cabins - I like posh). I could tell the the appliances, furniture, kitchen and bath were all recently updated and quite nice. The place was impeccable. There were some inexplicable wood chips all over the bathroom which was a mystery but since it was spotless otherwise, it didn't bother me. Generally, I really loved our cabin. 2) The place is very well appointed. Every amenity and comfort has been considered. Free, unlimited firewood, kindling, matches and newspaper for the fireplace. A grill on the balcony. Free coffee, creamer and sugar in the kitchen. Plenty of clean towels. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need. There are books and puzzles. Guidebooks, maps and directories. A DVD player, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, etc. The wireless internet access if free, reliable and fast. We had little to no cell reception so be forewarned. 3) The General Store: This was a lifesaver for us because we were rather unprepared, had no food and there were no stores nearby. We basically stocked the kitchen for our stay from the General Store. We bought pizzas (nice pizzas), breakfast food, nice wine, chocolates and they even had diapers for our 3 year old. We forgot those too! The General Store is also stocked with a huge library of recent and classic movies on DVD - all for free. They also have a large stock of games like Scrabble and Chess as well as puzzles. 4) Staff: Everyone was super friendly - mostly. The grounds people and the woman in the General store/Office (I believe her name was Celina? Serina?) were all super, super friendly and helpful. She really made our stay quite pleasant and she even entertained out 3 year old a bit while we shopped in the store. Unfortunately, she was filling in for another staff member who returned to the office on our last day. She was less friendly. Presumably this is the person the other reviewers are referring to when they said they were greeted in a less than warm way. She did have a bit of a 'tude but Celine/Serina was lovely. 5) The views are beautiful. The beach access paths are blocked off for Iron Spring guests only. The beach wasn't the most stunning beach I've been to (I've been to New Zealand so little can compare) but it's a beach. Not crowded and it has sand and an ocean. This has little to do with Iron Springs but you do go to the resort for the beach. Since we live in Seattle and have access to the beaches here + visit NZ and Hawaii often, it's hard to impress when it comes to beach views. But if you like clamming (or whatever they call it) and the sound of the ocean, it's a nice place to visit. You should also be mindful if you're traveling quite a ways to get here, the weather will generally match that of Seattle. So if it's raining in Seattle (and most likely it will be) going here to "get some sun on the beach" is a daft idea. The forecast is generally the same. In short, I probably wouldn't go out of my way for a family vacay here as it's not too fun for small children. It's perfect for romantic getaways or to get away on you own to meditate or start that novel you've been dreaming about. read more

My family and friends have stayed there in the past and loved it. Boy has it changed! (Not necessarily in a good way) I found out they now charge $289 per night and you had to stay a minimum of two nights! CRAZY!! They don't have even have a spa, a swimming pool or any other amenities. They said they have fireplaces, but so do a lot of other places on the coast that charge a third of what they do. What exactly do they have there that they charge so much? The Fairmont Olympic Hotel (5 star) in down town Seattle charges less! They also tore down the historic main lodge. This is obviously run by a souless big business group. So sad. They have gotten rid of the charm of the place and put prices so high that folks that have been coming to the place for the past 4 or 5 decades can't afford it anymore. Very sad. read more

My husband and I went here for our honeymoon in August and stayed in cabin 14. It was absolutely breathtaking. From the beautifully redone cabin to the stunning views it completely exceeded our expectations. When you check in you go into cabin one which is also their general store and the staff was so welcoming. You then drive about a block and turn into a driveway that takes you up to the cabins and the landscaping is perfect. When we got into our cabin it was so warm and inviting. The decor is very rustic and homey and the fireplace just made the cabin that much more welcoming. There was a binder with tons of information about the resort, maps of trails, restaurants, free dvd's that you could rent, outdoor games, etc. There was also a handmade leather scrapbook to write down all your fun times on the trip. The kitchen was fully stocked with every cooking utensil you could ever need. When you step out onto the deck the view is jaw dropping and there were even bunnies outside in the brush. Cabin 14 has Windows throughout the entire cabin and the bedroom is all ceiling to almost floor windows (it's pretty amazing waking up and looking out at the water while still laying in bed). The bed is a very comfortable king size with pillow top mattress and drawers under the bed. This was one of the most relaxing vacations we have ever taken and we will definitely be coming back. read more

I couldn't disagree with the previous review more. We pulled in and the hosts greeted us in phenomenal fashion. The power was out and they couldn't have been more apologetic. Our dog was welcome and he had a great time both on the beach and in the cabin. The cabin was right on par with the rate charged and I highly doubt that you will have a similar rate for an ocean view room anywhere. Enjoy the hospitality, but expect a family friendly, comfortable place. Bring food, coffee and wood, and put your car keys away for the weekend. I spent wonderful weekends here as a kid, and my fiancee loved the place more than I could have remembered. Apparently, they have fixed things in the 12 months since the last review. 15 months after the fact we returned to find that they had remodeled completely, and tripled their prices, while removing the wonderful historic lodge. Shame, I loved this place as a kid and asked my wife to marry me there. Frankly, we won't be back. read more

Seriously the best place to stay if going to the ocean in Washington. Only about 10 miles from Ocean Shores, and if you don't want to do all the touristy stuff, this is the best place to stay. Lovely hidden getaway. Celebrating 13yrs of marriage, this little ocean front gem was a added bonus to our memories. 1st time here, cabin #3 is our new best friend! 2 adults, 2 kids, 1 dog and an endless ocean with views a magazine couldn't capture. Our journey began w/very friendly service via phone. Upon arrival the service was immaculate, professional with expertise beyond 5 stars. Our cabin greeted us w/a full shed of wood, full kitchen, 2 washrooms, a full deck w/outdoor bbq, doggie towels and bowls, dinner table for four, kitchen cabinets full of place settings and cookware, dishwasher, hanging flat screen T.V. (for your liking), Blu Ray dvd player, beautiful wood burning stove, very comfortable queen bed (separated from the living area) with down comforter, futon in the very open spaced living room that folds down for the little ones to sleep on, 2 comfortable rocking chairs, IPOD doc, hardwood floors throughout and the grand finale, the gorgeous windows throughout with breathtaking views. It felt like home in everyway. Very comfortable, clean, cabin like with a homey feel. We booked the cabin when they offered their purchase 2 nights get the 3rd free and although we couldn't stay the 3rd night we used it up until the very last minute and felt as though it was a fantastic way to have a "very late" checkout. We never felt rushed, just relaxed. We cooked every meal "at home" and just enjoyed the scenery. That being said, the little store on-site carries everything you may need including unlimited free movie rentals down to Smore makings. There's a very nice outdoor community clam cleaning station & outdoor fire pit as well. The beach access is amazing. You have 2 options, walk through the fresh water inlet to the ocean (about ankle to knee high) or a nice wooded path. Our personal choice was walking through the water. Our dog LOVED it as did the kids. The beach is absolutely stunning. Very secluded, just lovely for anyone wanting to enjoy some peace and quite. The weather was also really nice for us. Another thing we noticed was the amazing trees! One hanging over our deck. Blue Jay's everywhere! They would walk along our railing. Perfect for picture taking. Ocean Shores is just a quick 15min drive for a little more beach activity. We went one day for the Kite Festival, ice cream cone and a little bumper car activity for the kids. All in all this place is definitely a 5 + 5 stars. We are looking forward to our next visit! Oh' one more thing! Your dog is a superstar here... My husband and I have been going to Iron Springs since we were in college in 1986. The last time we stayed with our kids we were afraid it may be the last time since the place had gotten pretty run down and it seemed it was falling apart pretty fast. Last week we came back for the first time since the new ownership and remodel. The new Iron Springs Resort is beautifully refurbished and has kept it's great atmosphere. It is a bit on the pricey side but you get what you pay for. You can stay nearby for less but you won't get the view, the privacy, the comfortable beds, fireplaces/wood stoves and beautiful surroundings. This place is perfect for the romantic getaway, a large family gathering or a small family vacation. We've done all of those things at Iron Springs and will do so again. I'm surprised to read the previous review that mentions car traffic on the beach. I have never experienced problems with traffic on the beach in all of my visits to Iron Springs. The resort sits right at the mouth of Boone Creek. No vehicles are allowed on the beach South of Boone Creek. You can drive in the area North of the creek but, honestly, I've never seen much traffic in that area. We let our dog run off leash and she has never been in danger. The cabin we stayed in this time faced SW and I didn't see one car the entire trip. Also, a couple of the reviews mention a female employee who had a negative impact on their visit. This resort exceeded our expectations. The setting is tranquil, beautiful and private. The hiking trails through the grounds are in old growth rain forest. We felt so connected to nature here. The cabins are immaculate. Rustic wood floors and table. Rustic modern cabinets and countertops. Cookware and utensils are modern and in good shape. Soft towels. Neverending, complimentary supply of dry wood, kindling, newspaper, and matches for the fireplace. Hose outside on gravel for rinsing the beach sand off stuff. Plenty of space between cabins for privacy. Gorgeous views off the deck and out the windows. Super clean. Felt like being home. The staff is really attentive. Just a couple of first-world cons: The gift shop toiletries are a little pricey but that's expected, and the wi-fi quality is mediocre. They do provide a landline phone though so emergencies and contact can still happen. We will definitely return here someday. :) read more

I can't say enough wonderful things about this resort. First, the manager Denise was incredible throughout our visit. The setting is so beautiful, peaceful, and surrounded by nature. The cabins are very well equipped with ANYTHING you might need. The bathrooms are nicely updated. The store at the management office has anything you might have forgotten. This place is AMAZING all around! From check in to the amazing view and the beach to walk on... just perfect!!! The rooms are perfectly acquainted with bedding, kitchen supplies, firewood, free Wi-Fi, dog dishes, dog towels, and a shammy rug to get all the doggy beach water sopped up upon entry. The staff is very warm and inviting and always there to help. We loved that everything was included, the dvd rentals, wifi, beach toys, games,firewood and even the kindling!!! Our cabin had a view to die for and just wanted to stay there and watch the waves crash next to the amazing fireplace. HIGHLY recommend escaping here with your furry footed friend!! read more

This is a 28 cabin resort in a very remote part of the Washington coast. The resort has been around since the 40's, but has recently been totally remodeled, so the cabins are clean and updated. This is a very nice place for a very quiet get away, but the remoteness can be an issue; nearest services are at least 15 miles away! The beach is incredibly broad and flat, and auto traffic is allowed as well as it's being a landing field! Didn't see and airplanes on it however. Typical of the northwest, it was very, very foggy while we were there. read more
