We stayed for four nights at the High Tides Ocean Resort Unit #4 in Moclips, WA. It certainly needs an "update" as many reviewers have pointed out. However, the condo did meet/exceed our expectations, which were quite low based on pictures and reviews. With the good price we paid and the cleanliness, it's easy to overlook the worn-out (never updated) look. So, 4+ stars for the condo. But, 1 star for Recreation Stays- the property management company. We did a "last minute" booking (escaping the wildfire smoke in the Seattle area), three days before arrival. We never got a confirmation email. We called a couple of hours later and they confirmed the booking. But, still no confirmation email or check-in instructions. When we left (from Seattle area) for the High Tides, still nothing from Recreation Stays. We called many times (15?) before we left and while driving in the car, using different numbers we found on the internet- nobody answered the phone (even though they state "24/7 white-glove guest communication"). Just the same message saying no one is available. My wife did find something about texting them in order to get a response. And they did respond!!! But, they had paperwork we needed to fill out before they would send instructions. It was a ridiculous amount of work- a multi-page questionnaire, upload pictures of drivers license, upload a selfie. Give a credit card for a damage deposit (even though we paid upfront for the condo). They finally responded with the check-in instructions. And you can't check in until 5:00 pm? The office closes at 6:00 and we weren't going to arrive until 7:00. Thankfully we had no further problems getting into the condo. And, a shout-out to Jerry, the office manager at High Tides. Incredibly nice man! But the property management, Recreation Stays, is the worst rental experience I have ever had. Unexcusable! read more

We booked a room for 3 nights at High Tide condominiums through "By the Sea Management" 3 weeks in advance. After driving 3 plus hrs, when we tried to check in we were informed by their off site management company, By the Sea, that regardless of our written confirmation we had no reservation or room. Furthermore, Laura, told us, tho off season mid week, and no cars in the parking lot there were no other rooms available. I have never met a more abrasive, unhelpful, hostile person as Laura who hung up on me when I told her that our credit card had been charged for the 3 night stay. With no recourse and no one on site with whom we could talk with to straighten out this mess we had no alternative but to leave. Fortunately a brilliant motel, Moonstone Beach motel was a few blocks away, had an incredibly a helpful front desk clerk, Kate, who wiped my tears and checked us into a beautiful room with similar amenities for less money. My advice, beware of "By the Sea" management company, as it appears our situation is not unique and has had happened multiple times. So forget staying at High Tide and stop a few blocks earlier and stay at the Moonstone Beach Motel. They have wonderful on site management team. Horrible place, if you care about your safety do not stay here. My mom was attacked in the parking lot. She sped out to get away from the man chasing after her, instead of offering support for my mother and grandparents, the staff berated them for speeding out of the parking lot (away from the man). Even after he was arrested, the staff was incredibly rude, yelling at my mom and grandparents. Horrible people working here. Again, if you want a hotel to care about your safety and wellbeing, do not stay here. read more

We have stayed at the Hi-Tide resort since 1991..it was always our place to go to. Now,since it has been bought out by a corporation it has become way too expensive to stay there. A $100.00 cleaning fee and other charges are now added to the bill. It's too bad that they have priced themselves out of many families budgets. These condos are essentially on the beach, a major plus, and rooms are basic but clean and with nice views. Dog-friendly establishment, which is wonderful. I don't have a dog but I loved meeting the ones that were there. The office doesn't answer its phone or return calls--it's just a very hands-off situation in general. I like staying in places where the staff has a love of hospitality. How things work at Hi-Tide are pushed back a bit onto the visitor to figure out and that can be fatiguing. Decisions + responsibility are what we're getting away from, after all. Considering what one pays to stay there, and how basic the rooms are, someone is pocketing some money that's for sure. You know those great places that never seem to change from your childhood? That still has amazing memories and you return with your kids? That's Hi-Tide. You won't find a bustling town with horse rides and street bikes and ice cream vendors. You have absolute silence except the sound of the seagulls and waves. And you can bring your best friend with you too! No leash needed out on the beach! Liberal poop bag stations throughout the complex, as well as cleaning stations post beach time. Bo apologizes for eating a lot of the sand dollars on display. It was his first time to the beach! It is a magical place and the management staff is wonderful! read more

Fair prices for fair amenities. Many cool things to do. SO close to the beach AND river. Don't forget to ask for a board game or two when you check in. I hope they are able to replace the large spotlight that illuminates the beach at night. It used to be on the South corner but they took it down to be neighborly to the homes next door. UPDATE: We had to leave a day early our last stay. I did not request a refund for the second night but saw my payment credited a week later -- an example of the management's awesome service. read more

My complaint is all about the management. It appears now there is no resident manager at this property. It is being run by a remote company. I booked two rooms for two nights being Sunday night and Monday night. On Friday I had a medical emergency and I called leaving a message and emailed back to the person who confirmed my booking. Indicating that I couldn't make it to the booking and I needed a refund to my credit card. No reply was received and after the date had passed I again requested what's happening and I was told in just a few words that my cancellation request came too late. I again requested more information and have received no reply at all. Whoever's managing this property is rude and unresponsive. I'm a very very unhappy. I am out $583 even though I give adequate notice of the cancellation. Just a warning to any of you who may be looking at this property as a weekend or vacation spot. read more

This is a great place to get away. Quiet, beautiful and comfortable. Great for fishing / clamming, beach walks, or just relaxing on the deck. Right at the mouth of the Moclips river. Great for dogs! Don't go for the nightlife. Like the entire Washington coast it can get cold and foggy, but we've been there many times and the weather is usually great. read more

A dog-friendly hotel situated on the edge of serene wilderness, surrounded by beautiful, sandy beaches and lush Pacific Northwest rain forests -- making for a memorable and relaxing May long weekend with my wife and overgrown puppy. The salt breeze, non-crowded beaches and marginal mobile service made for some well deserved tranquility. The hotel itself is located at the northern edge of Moclips, privately nestled up against the Moclips river and the Quinault Reservation. Although the rooms are not luxurious, the facilities are perfectly suited for a beach retreat. We loved our trip so much, I wouldn't be surprised if we return next year! read more

Sure like the other reviewer blamed the resort for the weather? At the beach what do you expect it can be nice or can be crappy? You're right it's not a resort it is a condo complex. The condos were nothing fancy but they were very comfortable clean and well equipped. If you want quiet a beautiful view and the beach almost all to yourself this is a place you want to come to. We had to travel 4 hours to get there, but it was worth it. The room was great and we really enjoyed being able to walk out the back door, right to the beach without having to walk through the dunes like you do in Ocean Shores. We were able to bring our dogs and they had a blast! We were able to drive the quick trip to Ocean Shores to ride horses etc... but got to stay a little out of the way, so that it felt more relaxing. The only thing I didn't like was that many of the locals access the beach from the resort area as well and they do not leash their dogs...ever, so there are dogs wandering. It's not the resorts fault, but if your dogs are not friendly to other dogs, you may want to stay away. read more

My husband and I just stayed in condo 15 for a long weekend. Wow! The condo was clean, spacious, and comfortable. We brought our own food and the full size kitchen with dishes, pots/pans, knives, utensils, and much more was fabulous. All the furnishings were wonderful from the pull-out couch, recliners, kitchen table, comfortable bed, and fireplace. And the paintings...the artwork...the décor...were perfect. We enjoyed sitting out on the balcony and also enjoyed our numerous walks on the beach. There's Wi-Fi for this specific unit which worked perfectly. We really enjoyed our stay at this resort, but will definitely request this specific condo (15) when we come back. read more

I left my jewelry box on accident and called as soon as we got home and I noticed a few hours later. The lady was very rude and dismissive. It was two pairs of gold diamond earring in a box on the bathroom counter next to all of the supplies they refill for the guests there is no way it wasn't found by the house keeper. She said I don't need to ask to house keeper because it wasn't turned in even though I was in tears begging her to look or ask. It's unexceptionable they just let the house keepers keep whatever they want. It was a very expensive anniversary gift from my husband and they didn't even pretend to care. I pray no else has a human error and forgets anything at this hotel. Check in was super strange as well, I was told I was 5 min early to check in and my husband was asked what he was doing there while he was parked in the car outside waiting for me to check in. Skip this place if all possible. Owners don't care about their guests. read more

We LOVED our stay! Very clean and dog friendly. Just a short path and you are on the beach. Dog cleaning station was a life saver as our girl was a mess after playing in the ocean and sand. Well stocked kitchen. Fireplace was a bonus as well. We will definitely be repeat visitors read more

We traveled to Washington from Michigan for a week-long vacation in the city and up the coast. We stayed at Hi-Tides because my girlfriend, who is originally from Washington, had many special memories there from her childhood with her grandparents. After our stay there, we both can say we have special memories from Hi-Tides. The manager, Andy, was extremely kind and accommodating. We told him how special the resort was to my girlfriend and that she hadn't been there in many years and he went out of his way to make sure our trip to Hi-Tides was as great as it could possibly be. As far as the resort itself, it amazes me how it can be both a place for rest and relaxation with stunning views of the Pacific, while also being a place for adventure and activity with unique activities like rock painting and catching glimpses of bald eagles as they fish along the river. Our trip included tons of adventure and fun experiences, but Hi-Tides was hands down our favorite part due to the overall fantastic nature of both the resort and their unequaled hospitality. We can't wait to go back! read more

spent 4 days at this resort / condo in July. Outstanding location for quiet, fun. The property was clean, the unit very clean. Fully stocked with all utensils and cooking items. Wifi worked well. We did leave some painted rocks for future visiting.Bald eagles, coyote, deer, lots of other birds. Beautiful beach and river. The lodging was a good choice for our beach getaway. read more

My husband and Lab and I stayed in Unit 14 for three nights. The unit was nicely decorated and had a full kitchen and fireplace. The queen size bed was a pillow top and very comfortable. The large deck had a panoramic view of the ocean and was only 100 feet from the beach! There are numerous trails to the beach and some lead to a river that is close and empties into the ocean. Our lab loved to swim in the gentle river. This is a great place for people who just want to enjoy the ocean and all it has to offer. As an extra bonus, the manager and staff are friendly and helpful, and we have already made reservations for our next visit. read more

Hi-Tide is the best of the best when it comes to Washington's ocean beaches. Rooms are cozy and clean. (we have stayed in several different rooms and they are all great!) Units have full stocked kitchens. Staff treats everybody so nice. They have REAL fireplaces, no gas. Its right on the beach so there is no long hike back and forth. Its great for families or for romantic weekend get away. We try to go to the beach for a weekend getaway every 2 months, we have stayed in many, many different hotels on the Washington coast but since we have found the Hi-Tides, we wouldn't stay anywhere else. read more
