We walked in out of curiosity on my wife's birthday. Some of the pieces were interesting, but most were clumsily made and overproduced. When we found one piece we were on the fence about (too much metal work marking the wood, but maybe cute for the person we'd buy it for), the owner came over and was inappropriate with my wife, rubbing her hands and telling her a derpy dating story from high school. She gave me the let's get out of here eyes, and we left. She felt uncomfortable around him. read more

Very uninviting! I We were walking up to go in and look around and there was this obnoxious guy who had a leaf blower standing between us and the door. We continued to approach and he never turned it off even though we were trying look at pieces closer to the entrance. I felt it was rude. Over the noise of the leaf blower he lipped that they were closed, but he could not be bothered to let us know when they would be open because he was too busy blowing off the driveway. Hey at least he got it blown out! I give them one star for a clean driveway and the art outside. read more

I honestly think the owner has a personality disorder. I was visiting Cambria with a friend because it was one of my late husband's and my favorite places. We walked into the store and I saw a large wooden heart with some edges that had been singed by a fire. It was oh so appropriate because my husband had killed himself two years ago. I committed the horrendous sin of picking it up to find a price. The owner shouted at me from across the store to not pick it up. I said that I was looking for a price. He announced to the rest of the people in the shop that his store wasn't Walmart. I inherited a bit of money following my husband's death and could have easy purchased his entire inventory. I'm still shaking my head at his behavior. read more

Moonstone Redwood Gallery caught our eye while driving through Cambria. We stopped in to view the wondrous art sculptures outside. Little did we know, we were in for a HUGE treat! We were greeted by artist and owner Will Scroggins who was eager to tell us about his projects. Over 90% of the art featured in his gallery is from ONE Giant Redwood. I know my pictures cannot describe the feelings of peace and awe that we felt walking through the garden with his creations. Moonstone Redwood Gallery features exquisitely carved and created pieces that anyone could enjoy. From decorating to gifts, this gallery has it all! We spent time in the indoor shop and the outside gallery and found pieces we adored all around us! I look forward to watching this gallery and definitely recommend stopping in to see the wonders! read more

Amazing artwork at the Moonstone Redwood Gallery. William Scroggins, the artist/owner of the Gallery, was very friendly. We asked many questions which he answered. Amazing art pieces made out of wood from a 600 year old redwood tree. William told us the story of the tree. Loved his artwork. Many unique, interesting, beautiful pieces in the gallery and outside on the property. If you have time while in Cambria, you should definitely stop by and check it out. read more

Although we arrived during off hours, Will came to the door when he saw us peeking inside and graciously welcomed us. We absolutely loved visiting and talking with him. He shared the story of acquiring the wood for much of the beautiful pieces that adorn his gallery. But, he also shared singular stories and background for a number of the pieces both inside the gallery and outside the shop. We loved hearing each of them and you can tell that they have literally and figuratively shaped the man he is. What a great life story that is! If you have the opportunity to stop by - take the time. You will not regret it. Gorgeous woodworking from friendly and humble artist. Thanks Will for sharing your expertise and passion for your art. There are two things you need to do when in Cambria. 1)- Drive a few miles north to Hearst Castle. 2)- visit Will at Moonstone Redwood on Moonstone Beach. Will is truly a master of creating unique one of a kind pieces out of redwood. You owe yourself a few minutes of your time to stop by and see what the Michelangelo of redwoods has created! You may not realize that you need to stop by, but you will be oh so glad you did! We bought a 5 foot mushroom that is the centerpiece in our living room. I don't write reviews. However, our experience here was so repulsive I have to corroborate the other 1star reviews. We strolled in and after a few moments viewing the pieces we smiled and asked how he moves such huge pieces of wood. He replied with a snarky comment about wanting to know the size of our wallets first. Moments later he barked at us to "honor him" and not touch anything. He then asked the age of my toddler, and replied back with a veiled comment about "having a one year old out back." Talk about a way to loose a sale. This guy clearly has a huge chip on his shoulder and some serious personal issues to deal with. Stay away. read more

Wow! What an amazing little place to walk through. Beautiful little garden, with lots of photo ops. Really nice guy that does amazing work. He takes giant pieces of Redwood and carves out these really cool mushrooms and tables and things. So cool! read more

We come to cambria every year and always mean to stop in, but never have. Today we went in and it was a real treat. The owner was very welcoming. My son was throwing a fit and he went out of his way to make him happy... he didn't have to do that. He's one of those personalities you have to feel out, you can't take everything he says to heart the guy likes to f@&k around! We'll be back next year to say hi and if we ever make it big we'll actually buy something awesome ;) definitely worth the stop in to look around, this is an amazing skill he has and it should be appreciated! read more

Unfriendly owner. Outside pieces of wood in their natural state are much more interesting and beautiful than what is inside the gallery.

Absolutely astonishing woodwork! Will Scroggins, the artist, stopped and talked with us on Sunday as we peered inside his studio / residence. He opened up the shop and let us look around at his spectacular work. I'm an amateur woodworker and I'm envious of his skills. Amazing! And he's a super nice guy.
