Love this pottery shop. We come here on every visit to Cambria. Last time we bought three beautiful tiles depicting scenes from Cambria and Morro Bay. This time, we got a lovely blue dragonfly vase. The woman helping us was so friendly. She explained that our vase was created by 3 artists - the designer Potter and the Glazer and all of their initials are on the vase. We were excited to visit this store with every intention of buying pottery to add to our home collection, but when we did midday on the last Saturday of March, the woman behind the desk ignored us completely. We browsed politely and left without a purchase. Why patronize a business that doesn't treat customers well? To the artists represented by that salesperson, she does a disservice to your beautiful work. We don't recommend this gallery - poor customer service. read more

Beautiful pieces and friendly people. Greeted us as we entered the gallery and were open to questions. They have a variety of pieces ranging from small ties, small cups, vases, bowels and pots for plants. Lots of pieces prices raging from $36 and upwards of $200. I didn't dare to pick up the bigger pieces for fear of breaking them. But they specifically informed us that we are welcome to pick them up and look at the prices on the bottom or under the lids. read more

Cambria is known for its artistic community and this pottery store comes through with some truly beautiful pieces. There are about 7 ceramicists who collaborate on the pieces in a workshop in Wisconsin. Their gallery is here in Cambria. I woud have loved to take a piece home, but I need to wait until I can truly afford and display an original piece of art. Definitely worth a browse. read more

I'm not an artsy person. I don't know a Renoir from Rembrandt. But I do enjoy creative, beautiful objects. So when I was strolling down Main Street in the West Village of Cambria CA, I stopped to look into the window of Ephraim Pottery West Gallery. The pottery in the window was simply beautiful in an organic way. Not your run if the mill pottery.. these pieces were unique. Well, it caught my attention. So off I went to venture inside. The person working was wonderful. So easy to talk to and knowledgeable. The gallery showcases and sells pottery, wood, tile, lamps, paintings, and textiles from various artists. Pieces ranged from practical everyday use to show pieces in ranging styles. The arrangement was beautifully displayed. We settled on purchasing a mug. It had hues of gradient coloring. Beautiful and functional. Prices ranged from $30 and upwards depending on the piece. Drop on in. My wife fell in love with the artwork here during a visit to Cambria last year. We spent a long time looking over every piece and then came back the next day for some purchases. My wife bought a framed tile of the bridge in Big Sur, a dragonfly vase, and a table runner. Her birthday was a week ago and I was trying to figure out something unique to get her. In the mail came a catalog for Ephraim Pottery so I figured it was a sign. I got my wife a 3" tile of a dragonfly with wooden stand and a wood framed 8" x 4" tile of Moonstone Beach. I ordered via their website. Orders are made per order but I let them know about her birthday so they put a rush on it. Everything was wrapped up great so even if the box was jostled around during shipment it was break proof. We love this Arts and Crafts style of pottery! We usually find it in South Pasadena at the Gamble house, designed in the Arts and Crafts style around the turn of the century, and buy it at their gift store. It is a great discovery to have it available here to us on the central coast. We wandered in and were mesmerized by the beautiful colors and finishes of these ceramics. Whether you prefer a vase or a tile, the effect of this subtly geometric view of nature has a calm and peaceful air. We use the tiles around the house as coasters, or decoratively by the fireplace. The owner is delightful and very knowledgeable about the work. She pointed out several beautiful vases, and even opened a cabinet for us. There are also some small oil paintings of local scenery that reflect the colors of nature and the pottery. These are art pieces, and do carry prices ranging from $30 for a tile, and around $200 for a vase, but the timeless beauty of these designs will fill your heart with joy! read more

A rare 5-stars from me, but deserving. This select group of potters are dedicated to replicating the pottery of early America in classic Art Deco, Classical and Arts & Craft styles. All hand-made on the potter's wheel, then incised, etched, painted, applied handles and raised accents, they are each one-of-a-kind, seemingly identical, but not so. Each is a unique work of art. Colors are subtle and appropriate for the period of the piece. That said, some of the colors were inspired by Costa Rican bright hues. So not all of the pieces are light or dark colored. And each year, the Ephraim potters decide what they will produce for that year. And each piece is limited to a certain number of pieces. So the shapes and glazes change, while there are some classics that remain in demand. It is an amazing experience to take in the gallery. So many beautiful tiles, vases, bowls each uniquely decorated. True works of art. Treat yourself to seeing and appreciating hand-made art mirroring an earlier age. read more

I have visited this store 3-4 times over the years, and always come away with something beautiful. This time, it was a lovely vase, with a coastal motif. Then a few weeks later, I gave in and ordered something else I had admired Lovely(a tall vase with a dragonfly pattern) from the website. Lots of great options, in a variety of price points (my GF bought a very nice tile for about $30), many quite reminiscent of the Arts and Crafts period (e.g. Rookwood and Newcomb pottery). read more

What a beautiful store with gorgeous pottery and craftsman goodness! Lovely lovely works of art. We bought a tile, which is all we could afford, but the vases were amazing. When we hit it big, we'll be back! The employee was really sweet, smart, and discussed the art - from process to history - without pressuring us to buy.
