I am a new patient and had my first appointment this past week. The building it's self is very clean and nicely decorated. The staff was incredibly nice no complaints about customer service. The Dr was very nice and did a wonderful job explaining things to me most Dr don't really take the time to do that. I ended up getting a pair of glasses from them and I expressed to the woman helping me I was concerned about the price and she helped me find a pair that fit my budget and also gave me the most bang for buck with my insurance benefits. First, my wife and I were a patient of Dr. Moore's for years, and after we moved to North Alabama had issues getting lenses from our local optician chain, which only uses insurance branded glass lenses when filing with our insurance. Therefore, we called and made an appointment with Dr. Moore's optician in the upfront glasses' area as they use Hoya lenses and drove out of our way to Tuscaloosa on the way to a family reunion in South Alabama with our 6 year old in tow so I could pick-up some new glasses. Upon arrival, we were met with a lady who apparently was having a mental breakdown or something. She was upset on our arrival, not friendly and complaining about being the only person at work that day. We tried to engage and even cheer her up a little to no success. Later, another family came in with a few kids who were loud and she started making faces and shaking her head, but I did not think much of it as they were kids and kids can be loud. In the end, I was able to get my glasses order in and even said hello to Dr. Moore and noting we plan to drive back in the fall for next checkup. Well, upon returning home a few days later, I get a call from Dr. Moore, which was a surprise, and I thought he was following to check on my prescription, but this was not the case. He just stated that I said something to his optician (could not say what was said) as she was crying after we left and that he was canceling our order. I was totally in shock and at a loss of words as I have no idea what could have been said to make a lady cry. For starters, I was with my 6 year old, would not use bad language in front of him, and if I had a problem with the lady then I would have not said anything but rather brought it to the attention of Dr. Moore. The only thing that I can think of that I could have said was a.) I asked her if she was sure the black dots on the lenses were correct and could she check ~ to which she replied that she had ben doing this 30 years, and b.) later I asked if she was sure she got insurance filed correct or had any questions as my benefits were being refiled from prior year with insurance company approval ~ to which she flatly said yes. That was it. Hand on the bible. Anyway, Dr. Moore did confirm on the phone he was short 2 opticians that day as one was out for planned surgery and another had lost a child, which I feel deeply sad for as I lost my first born son 3.5 year old son at the start of Covid in Tuscaloosa, ~~~ whole heartily feel for that person. My sincere condolences. Nothing worse!!! But, the lady working was not this lady, and her having a had bad day and complaining about being the only employee (due to the other lady who lost her child being out) and blaming me is unjust! We were also the only customer until lady with kids later arrived. I asked Dr. Moore what could I have said, and he could not say and seemed not to know. He just said that she was crying after I left and other ladies saw her crying in back (again, no idea why). I do not know what personal problems this lady is having herself, but I never said anything insulting to this woman, and she thus blatantly lied blaming me for her own personal issues apparently because I asked her to check the dots on the lenses and if she needed anything more for insurance filing. In summary, you should absolutely avoid the one lady optician. I did not get her name and can only describe her for you. She was a large heavyset woman of mulatto complexion who from the start of our visit did not smile, was not engaging and complained about work. I must also give Dr. Moore a one star rating for his obliviousness to his optician's issues and resulting blame of me and my family for her breakdown, especially after we drove out of our way to visit his office. I can only guess he has a difficult time getting opticians in Tuscaloosa and must be cautious of lawsuits by them. Again, avoid this lady! and perhaps Dr. Moore's office too until he cleans up his staffing problems. read more

We have used Moore Eye Clinic for years. The front office people use to be nice. Then had some staff changes and it hasn't been the same since. I have had to cancel the last couple of times due to the last time my child was sick and this time I am sick. I get a call saying they can't schedule him anymore but that I have to call on day to day basis to see if they have an opening. Wow. Usually with all this Covid BS they don't want you to come even if you have a sniffle. Next time by George we will go on to our appointment and screw it if the staff gets sick. Although myself and the rest of our family members will be finding a new eye doctor. They already pissed me off when they wouldn't let my oldest son order contacts. He had just started a new job straight out of college and was being sent out of state for a couple of weeks and they couldn't let him order contacts. I do NOT recommend this office. Just like most other places now days this place has went down hill. Slowly but it surely is. They will be losing 7 patients bc of their rudeness! We once thought so much of Dr Moore and his office. I do not recommend going to Moore Eye Clinic in Tuscaloosa. I had an awful experience there for it being such a nice office. The women in the front were extremely rude and up helpful. I actually left the office in tears. Will never step foot back in this office. read more

After referencing my insurance coverage, I was made aware that Moore Eye Clinic was within my network. Last year, I visited Moore Eye Clinic for the first time to get new eyeglasses. Bea, an office staff member, worked with me for almost two hours to find the right pair. She also explained all of the possible upgrades on the eyeglasses with pricing. A year later, I am still happy with the pair that I chose and the experience that I had. I was recently due for a contact eye exam. Because I had a good experience previously, I chose to return to the office for this procedure. The entire office is clean, bright and friendly. I was brought to the back almost immediately for my exam. The office had both standardized and progressive eye exam tools of technology. The office staff member who had worked with me explained all price upgrades for the exams on each of the machines that was not included. Dr. Moore was professional, informative and thorough. He was patient throughout the exam and took time to explain my current eye health and prescription. He also went above and beyond to explain the contact brand options that would work well with my eyes. After the exam, I was told that Dr. Moore preferred me using trials of the new prescription prior to ordering. I appreciated this long-term because it ensured that I felt comfortable in my new lenses. Since getting to know this office, I will not go anywhere else in Tuscaloosa. I have recommended Moore Eye Clinic to co-workers and friends within this area. read more
