Moore's Tree Care came out for a free estimate in Matthews and were able to fit us in same day. They did an excellent job taking down two trees right next to our fence between power lines and our house. We had zero concerns as they thoughtfully tied everything so the limbs wouldn't swing and hit the house or fence. Terry offered to haul everything away or cut good pieces up for firewood and stack it for us. They took out 4 trees total and grinded other stumps that have been in our yard for a while. Initially did a good job but they were not as thorough as we thought and follow-up customer service was horrible.

Yesterday, a guy knocked on our door saying that he was in the area and had just finished a job. He noticed one of our maple trees was dead and said that we should take it down. I, personally, would have cut the conversation off there and said 'no thank you' thinking I was being targeted for a scam. But, my boyfriend answered the door and took a look at the tree with the guy. Yep, it was dead. There was no pressure, so my boyfriend and I looked for reviews. Ugh. Only one yelp review and it was bad, but it wasn't about skill or safety (my concerns), it was about taking wood away. I verified the insurance was active and decided to take a risk (if it wasn't a very reasonable price and they weren't already in the area, I probably would have passed them over b/c of the review). We were very happy with the tree removal. We decided to keep the wood (we like a fire), so they stacked it all for us on our wood pile (going to have to rent a log splitter for some of them, but cheaper than buying firewood). They were great about cleaning up, even blowing off our neighbors' driveway of any leaves/debris. All in all- very happy we took a chance. I would use them again for future tree services. read more

The only reason they are getting a star is because I HAVE too. On Monday, Dec. 30,2019, my dad saw MOORE'S TREE CARE (owners, TERRY MOORE. SR and TERRY MOORE, JR.) working down the street at a neighbor's house. He approached them (FIRST MISTAKE) to cut down two Bradford Pear Trees. As they were cutting down the trees, they were making big piles and my dad told them that the city would not pick it up unless they were in small piles. Terry, SR. said they would put them in piles and then TERRY, JR. said that the city would pick them up and if they didn't, they would come back and pick them up. He gave my dad the bill, and my dad went ahead and paid MOORE'S TREE CARE (SECOND BIG MISTAKE). By the way, TERRY MOORE, SR. asked for cash, but said a check would be ok and to write it out to TERRY MOORE, SR. (Why not write it out to the company??) The receipt did not have an address, (which most of the receipts I have seen have address, email, website, etc.) on it. The "business card" had a fake website on it. When we looked up MOORE'S TREE CARE on the internet, it would take us to "yelp". On Tuesday (our yard pick-up day), the city worker's left a note on our mailbox stating that they could not pick it up because it did not meet the specifications, which is exactly what my dad told MOORE would happen. My dad tried calling them four times. The recording said, "that the number was not set up to take messages". My dad finally got someone to answer the phone Th and then they hung up when my dad said hello. My son tried calling from his phone, but they hung up when he said that his granddad needed to speak to him. On Jan. 1, my kids, dad and I was outside organizing the mess that MOORE'S TREE CARE had made. TERRY MOORE (maybe it was SR. because he would not give my dad a definite answer) called and said they would be at our house on Jan. 2, to pick up the mess. On Jan. 2, my dad called around 10:30ish and one of the TERRY MOORE'S, said they were on their way. I (his daughter was texting, because my dad doesn't) texted at 1:10pm to see where they were and one of the TERRY MOORE'S texted back saying "It's raining sir and we don't work in the rain. I just hot over thw flu" (his exact words and spelling). On Jan. 3, my dad kept calling, he probably would have stopped calling if they had an answering machine that was "set up" and could have left a message. One of the TERRY MOORE'S texted saying that he was sick (but he just hot over the flu, on Jan. 2?). On Jan. 3, he said, "I'll be there when it stops raining". TERRY MOORE said to "stop calling and if he didn't, he would block the number and not come, leave me alone". On Sat, Jan. 4th, it did not start raining until around 3:00. I guess they don't work when it is cloudy either. Mon., Jan. 6, BEAUTIFUL DAY!! I guess they don't work on beautiful days either. My dad and kids finished the job that MOORE'S TREE CARE did not do according to what MOORE, SR. proposed to do per city requirements. If you hear the names, TERRY MOORE, SR. and TERRY MOORE, JR., or MOORE'S TREE CARE, RUN!!!!! We have let our friends in Thomasville and friends in Charlotte know all about this! read more
