We booked Monster Lake Ranch for my daughter's wedding. Despite having over four months notice they…read moreweren't ready for us. We weren't able to set up for the wedding until a few hours before and that was because they didn't have anything ready. We had to clean the place before setting up because nothing had been cleaned. They had my deposit for over four months and I paid the entire balance 30 days before the wedding and yet they still did NOT have the place ready even though I was assured it would be. Because we had to do all of the cleaning and then the setting up I missed out on being present while my daughter got ready. I didn't get to help her into her dress. I didn't get to make memories or take pictures. I was robbed out of many things that day. Also, family stayed on the property and paid full price despite dirty rooms that were t even ready to be checked into until late evening and no hot water the next day. The website promises available breakfast and yet there was no breakfast and the restaurant was closed. They were told it was seasonal; the website says NOTHING about being seasonal. For the first 3 months after booking the ranch for the wedding, I could NOT get anyone to communicate with me. Many emails went unanswered as well as voicemails. When the one and I guess only staff member did finally communicate with me it was to tell me that an entire crew was getting the event center ready. Well that turned out to be one of many lies to come!!!! Nothing was ever done to get the place ready until we did it ourselves, the day of the wedding!!!! Also, we booked the "event center " sight unseen and was promised pictures on many occasions. Never once got any pictures. Then when we finally get there and are taken to the "event center," it turns out to be a huge garage, with no heat or running water. The bathroom facilities were several yards away and if turns out they were dirty and didn't have any towels to wipe hands on. We were out and out lied to many times and I will NEVER recommend this place, at least not with the current staff!!!!!!!

The LIttle Red House is really not all that little. It is a quaint cottage with loads of charm and comfort. I feel like I could move right in and be totally at home. Everything in the house is clean and modern. A few minutes walk away is Downtown Cody with all sorts of fun shopping and good cafes. This is a great place to stay for couples or people with kids.

Per Cody Lodging -Owner decided to not rent out just 30 days before. All air flights are booked, arrangements made etc. and there is nothing the company can do to help. They state there is nothing comparable in their catalog and the only other option is to reschedule. Very little time to cancel, refund, and rebook flights and arrange vacation requests, etc. so I feel thats an unrealistic gesture of options to offer. The only other residence they had they rented and were not willing to move clients around to honor our deposit. It is a risk so beware!! We certainly recommend staying away from the company . Unacceptable and bad business.

However, if you find yourself in Cody, needing a place to rest your head, this is a very nice place. Its on the edge of town, for me was on the way "in" from the East, and is up a dirt road that you should probably not drive too fast on, but not one with a lot of potholes or anything like that. There are not many rooms here, and from what I understand only single beds, but each room as two of those. Some rooms share a bath, others do not. There are two "houses" that have rooms in them. Communal entryways and a shared kitchen area, which is stocked with a few pans and things like that. On the honor system they provide sodas, I think they were fifty cents each?, and you put money in a jar. There is also a washer dryer, also honor system that you can use. I had not expected this, but was thrilled, as I had been traveling for some time and the laundry was piling up. While they supply soap as well, I used my own. I'm not sure what the suggested donation was there, but there was one, it was more than reasonable, and frankly, its great to be able to do laundry and not have to sit at a Laundromat etc. Each place has a living room, and while there were tvs in those, I did not watch them. There is free wifi. The grounds are lovely, many statues made by the owner, shes an artists as well. She has traveled worldwide, and the influences show in her art work. There is a lama that comes to visit as well, but don't worry, there are cow grates to keep the animals out, but that allow you to drive in and out as you need. They do host many retreats, hence the "shared rooms" and I think they are often full with those. This is a "no frills" place, but its very nice, the couple who run it are terrific and its a nice thing to do that's a little different from the usual hotel experience. I loved this place and would have stayed more than one night if I could. Cody itself is a great town that I also enjoyed. (While it is part of the Episcopalian diocese in WY, you don't have to be a member of the church, or any other church for that matter to enjoy this space.)

Their maintenance man helped us with some things on our RV. we used the laundromat and everything was clean and dry within an hour. The bus for the Cody rodeo will pick up at the campground, although we chose to drive our camper over to the fairgrounds where there is free parking. The campground is conveniently located near downtown Cody, as well as the Walmart, Bill Cody Museum and the rodeo. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it!

While we were there our guide showed up and introduced himself. He asked if we had any previous experience and talked about various locations, their conditions and where he thought we could go fish. Since our casting is far from professional and current conditions of the rivers were high and fast, we opted for a lake. We came with rods, waders, boots, snacks, but I left my reels in my truck at the store! Thank god , Brad (our guide had back ups! He got us all set up and we set out, talking about the conditions and what to expect. ( like rattlesnakes) what your step! It was a very educational experience, and we all caught some nice trout! If your in Cody and like to fly fish go see Brad, he'll make a better fly fisherman/woman.
