This is a really cool place to go when you need a fun activity for visitors or kids! It's a little…read morepricey for admission, but it includes access to lots of animals, walking trails, a small butterfly enclosure, an aviary, and a planetarium. The animals they had were fun to see and there were quite a lot of them! The outside area is very nice as well, and I'd probably go on the trail if it wasn't so hot out. I unfortunately didn't have time to wait for the planetarium show, but it's cool that it is a part of the experience. I enjoyed walking around and would recommend it.

We both walked out in desperate need of a chiropractor adjustment. The feature was like watching an old reel to reel home movie complete with rough imagery and popping sounds in the audio. I'm going to venture out here and say they need new equipment because the feature we paid to see was supposed to be a visual marvel. The presentation left us uninspired and not impressed. Exhibits. The tanks were dirty, the exhibits were run down old and outdated. If the ppl there are volunteers some need to be asked not to return, if they're employees they need to be fired. When we asked questions they acted annoyed that we were even there. The animals. I'm hoping they'll be able to improve. I know they're probably still trying to recover from the storms but they need to do more, faster. I shouldn't feel pity for the animals having to spend their life in captivity and wondering are they truly better off. We visited a wild bird sanctuary in Key Largo which was wonderful. We were so impressed we wanted to and did make a separate donation to help keep their doors open. They operate on donations for entry, not an entry fee. Fort Myers, you have a good foundation but you need to step up your game. What started out as new in 1970 is in desperate need of repair. Inspire us!! Also, I'm not tourist. We will go back and continue to pay for entry but I'd like to see some improvements being made between visits.

There's a separate area or in some cases a separate room (!) for each category of items. Most every area is clearly marked and even the shelves are marked as well. There are a lot of clothes -- women's mostly, but also men's. Prices are very reasonable. My girlfriend found two men's Hawaiian shirts for $1 each and a denim dress for herself for $3. But you might also find something a tad more expensive like the designer scarf for $10... but most clothing for a lot less. The house wares are on easily navigated shelves. Prices vary. But here, too, there were items I've seen in goodwill for 3 to 4 times the price. I was able to replace a Pyrex pie dish and a slotted silver plate serving spoon for under $2. There is furniture of all kinds. And at all prices. There was the most expensive item I noticed -- a gorgeous table with 6 chairs for $1200. Not that I was in the market for anything like that, but I actually saw a couple familiar with the maker oohing over it. There's a small book nook with hardcover and paperback books on shelves. Most are even sorted by alphabetical last name. Not in order exactly but all the b's are together; all the c's are grouped etc. ir made it much easier searching for a specific author. This is a store that thrift store shoppers (me included) would return to again and again... and I'm going to try to do so when I'm over on this coast.

I had a very disappointing experience with Gulf Coast Humane Society during my cat's neuter…read more I was already extremely nervous due to the surgery. During check-in, the veterinary technician was very kind and explained that he has a brachycephalic airway due to his facial structure. I asked if someone could call me once he was awake and doing well after surgery. She told me it would be better if I called around noon since that's when the cats are usually finished. When I called around noon, I was told his surgery hadn't even started because an emergency surgery came in and the dogs were being done before the cats. I completely understand that emergencies happen and should take priority. However, when I called again around 1:30 PM, his surgery still had not been performed. At that point, the staff member I spoke with was dismissive and rude. I was essentially told they have a high volume of spays and neuters and couldn't check on every cat. As a worried pet owner whose cat was under anesthesia for a scheduled procedure, I wasn't asking for constant updates--I simply wanted to know how he was doing. The most upsetting part happened after I picked him up. When I got him home, I discovered his entire backside was covered in blood. I immediately called the clinic and, after waiting on hold for about 10 minutes, was instructed to bring him back. Once we returned, I was told that the incision had not been fully closed. This should have been identified before he was discharged. A proper post-operative assessment should have caught this issue before sending him home. Seeing my cat covered in blood after surgery was incredibly distressing and completely avoidable. Unfortunately, this wasn't my first concerning experience at this facility. During a previous neuter visit with my other male cat, he could barely walk when he got home. While I appreciate that they now reverse the anesthesia, the overall experience still left me feeling that quality control and discharge assessments are lacking. I understand that shelters and high-volume clinics are busy, and I appreciate the veterinary technician who was compassionate during check-in. However, being busy should never come at the expense of patient safety or thorough post-operative care. I hope this review encourages the clinic to improve communication with pet owners and strengthen its discharge procedures so that no one else has to experience bringing their pet home in this condition.

Rotary was started Paul Harris, a Chicago attorney who formed the Rotary Club of Chicago on February 23, 1905 so professionals with different backgrounds could exchange ideas and form lifelong friendships. Through the years Rotary expanded to include humanitarian missions. Today Rotary International is a network of 1.4 million people who work together to promote peace, fight disease, provide clean water, sanitation, and hygiene, save mothers and children, support education, grow local economies, and protect the environment This clock honors the Rotary Club's 100 years of service to Ft. Myers. Some of the accomplishments of the Fort Myers Rotary Club include helping to get I-75 completed by 1986. They raised over $2.5 million through fundraisers and grants that they donated to local nonprofits over the years and they raised over $400,000 for the Children's Hospital. The Rotary Club of Fort Myers paid for the $36,000 clock which has quickly become a beloved backdrops for graduation and wedding pictures. It is also a great meeting point for people attending concerts next door.
