At just a 20 minutes drive, this is the closest area in town where you can go downhill skiing. It's a family-owned business, and they run a nice, tight-knit, friendly and professional operation. The level of the slopes is advanced beginner through advanced intermediate. (I found that their "greens" were comparable to "blues" back in the northeast U.S. and the "blacks" are actually more like "blues.") The place is not huge, but they do have a nice variety of trails, perfect for advanced beginners and intermediate skiers looking for something challenging and fun, but not too crazy.
Pros:
Nice trail variety for advanced beginners and intermediate skiers and snowboarders (the place is really popular with snowboarders)
Other than at the very, very top, it never gets too crowded going down because there are so many trails that diverge and further diverge as you go down
Amazing views from some of the trails overlooking town and the valley below
Heated bus drives you up the hill, no lifts.
Discounts for students, military, after 1p.m. and when it's below 0F.
Cons:
Only open Fri-Sun, season ends early (first weekend of April).
Tickets on the expensive side unless you qualify for a discount. read more
