Great way to get you moving! Breakfast is always something speciel. Homemade granola with yogurt. Fresh fruit. Juice. Teas. The cooked prepared breakfast was so yummy! The last morning I stayed they had reindeer sausage and flap jacks. I could not put my fork and knife down, it was so good! Even during the day they have cookies out for the guests. On the side of the house outside there's a little fireplace. The back deck is nice to sit in the morning with your first cup of coffee. The folks are just as friendly!! The only thing to note is that you can hear foot traffic from the common room in the lower floor rooms (Illiamna and St. Elias), which was only an issue in the morning around breakfast time. The common deck was a perfect place to start or end the day with views of the water. Breakfast was equally delicious with a spread of pastries, fruit, sausage, hash browns, etc. It's about a 10-15min walk to downtown Anchorage as well as the coastal trail. Steve and Monica are fantastic hosts! Would definitely stay here again when in town.

There's a sign on the swinging door meant to notify guests that its the door to the Alaska Suite (I don't know if that actually deters anyone from using the bathroom that's right past the swinging doors). The kids bedroom and the master bedroom are on either side, both with combo locks. Not sure how "secure" this setup is, especially for ones that truly have little ones staying in that room. The beds were so soft and squeaky, none of us got a good nights rest. They did a good job with the decor in all the common areas, bedrooms and bathroom. The two dilapidated RVs in the back of the property were quite the eyesore though. 100% contactless check in and out. I received a code via email 15 minutes before check in at 3pm and instructions later on how to check out. My parents were stoked to find the help yourself well stocked fridge and pantry items for breakfast. They cooked themselves some soft boiled eggs in the early AM and were happy campers.

We walked those routes many times during our stay. It was also very conveniently located within walking distance of the Alaska Rail station. It is not located near any grocery stores, however, so we did a big Costco shop shortly after our arrival in Anchorage. Our room was on the top floor and we had a great view through the living room window. The bedroom has plenty of closet space as well as a comfortable queen sized bed and ceiling fan. The bathroom is small with no bathtub, but has an awesome rain shower. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Because we stayed as long as we did, we did not receive the bagged breakfast offered to other guests. We were asked what we would like and were given fruit, bread, eggs, yogurt, butter, bacon, bananas, apples, oranges and granola. Basically, everything we asked for, we received. It was great being able to make our own breakfasts! Compared to the price of hotels, many of which are located only a block or two away from the Arctic Fox, this place is a good deal. As well, as the privacy of your room, you have access to a large outdoor deck with tables and chairs as well as a grassy area with a table and chairs and there is a common room and a laundry room. A cab to/from the airport cost us just $25. Now, as for the negatives. Anchorage has a homeless problem. Many homeless are attracted to a soup kitchen located within a block of the Arctic Fox. They did not harass us or approach us at any time, but they are there in numbers and it wasn't all that pleasant having to walk by them as often as we did. Most nights we didn't hear them either, but there were a couple of nights where they kept us awake with their shouting. This b&b is also located near the train tracks and during the day, especially if you have your windows open, the trains can be noisy. We were not bothered at night, however, because the bedroom is on the side opposite to where the tracks are located.

We didn't mind walking around but if you want to be close to restaurants/shops this may not be the place for you. It doesn't look like much on the outside but once you're inside, it's pretty. There are no elevators so if you have bags they will help you carry them up. The common area is on the 2nd floor and so was our room. Some rooms share bathrooms. We didn't want to share so we requested a room with your own bathroom. When we checked in, Carol took good care of us, she was our host during our stay. She was a sweetheart, every morning she made breakfast and it was good. Yes, your stay comes with free breakfast. If you can't stay for breakfast just let your host know the day before and they will prepare you a bag and have it ready for you in the morning. House keeping was great! Our room was spotless! The whole place was spotless! The only complaint I have is that the walls are thin. It's an old house, I understand. We are from the east coast so we were in bed by 8pm. When other people came back from dinner we could hear them loud and clear, the walking and closing doors, etc. This was our first time at a Bed & Breakfast so we didn't know what to expect. While we enjoyed our stay we have discovered that we actually preferred hotels over B&B's. If you like B&B's and don't mind walking to the center of town or driving, then I would say give this place a try.

My husband and I were traveling to Alaska with our little girl dog (she always travels with us) and so I thought this would be a good hotel to stay in but am thankful that I only booked this place for one night because we had a poor experience. This hotel is across from a plaza with Starbucks and Hilton Garden Inn. We stayed for one night (a Saturday) in a queen suite, which cost me ~$280 for one night. We had arrived earlier in Anchorage than expected and so we called the hotel to ask if our room would be ready. The employee said probably after 12 pm. So later on, we had called around 1:45 pm if a room would be available to check in earlier (check in is at 3 pm). The employee said yes and so we drove over. When we checked in, we were surprised to be told by the employee checking us in that there is no room available yet, even though this was the exact same employee who told us (over the phone) that a room was available. We ended up waiting in the car until 3. So at 3 pm, we finally checked in. Got the luggage dolly and headed up to the second floor. However, the room we went in had a very, very strong smell of mold, mildew and a chemical cleaning smell. My husband was already out of patience by then and so we headed back to the front desk. Another employee said that we could only be placed in this room because the 2nd floor is the pet floor... but since there is no other rooms she refused to give us another room. After some arguing from my husband, we were placed in another room, but on the first floor (right next to the laundry room. Yes there are coin operated washers and dryers in this hotel). This room was clean and did not have a odor but it was annoying to hear the laundry room door slam throughout the day and part of the evening. A few days after we had checked, I saw on my credit card bill that I was over charged a pet fee for our stay. But at least the manager I spoke to on the phone was able to credit me back the fee. But find it to be annoying that I was over charged (again we only stayed one night) and had to call to reverse the charge. I also glad that I always like to check my credit card transactions regularly to catch things like this. The room itself was fine and space was comfortable for 2 people and a pet. But was expecting much better service.

If you even call it an establishment. They keep trying to bring me towels when I say "no thank you please no thank you" they just leave the door unlocked and walk away leaving me barn door wide open while I'm asleep door not even halfway locked. Their fucking insane for doing that to me. When I have been out here more than 5 nights now and they still can't even seem to do their jobs correctly no matter how long you stay here. It's absolute disregard for the customer just for the job entitlement. And they cant even give me my 20 nights stay money back pre-deposited even though they keep on accusing me of smoking marijuana although I do own a medical marijuana card I'm not even smoking any weed honest to God. And I just wanted to go to the Ramada inn way nicer hotel across the street from the government hill bridge. I can't even get my deposit back to go to the Ramada inn. For my 20 nights stay booked in advance at the bird Creek motel inn. I just wanted to stay in room # seven or nine. Where previously was a couple of nights ago, Before the cleaning lady lost her mind and accused me of smoking weed as another false accusation. I'm being held hostage in a different room now unable to get my money back and I do want to be in this room anymore.
