We enjoyed three nights in two different rooms here. The Susitna Suite is very spacious and has a nice deck with a great view. The St Elias room was a bit smaller but very accomodating. Both had large showers with great water pressure. The beds were very comfortable. Monica was helpful with recommendations about the neighborhood, museums, restaurants, etc and we had an awesome meal at one of the places she sent us to - Ginger. She was kind enough to pack a breakfast to go for us on a day we had an early train departure to Seward. Thank you for making our stay wonderful Monica! read more

Our group of nine stayed in St. Elias, Katmai and Illiamna rooms. All the rooms were very comfortable. The only thing to note is that you can hear foot traffic from the common room in the lower floor rooms (Illiamna and St. Elias), which was only an issue in the morning around breakfast time. The common deck was a perfect place to start or end the day with views of the water. Breakfast was equally delicious with a spread of pastries, fruit, sausage, hash browns, etc. It's about a 10-15min walk to downtown Anchorage as well as the coastal trail. Steve and Monica are fantastic hosts! Would definitely stay here again when in town. read more

The best part of our quick stay in Anchorage! Monica is so kind. The breakfast set up is bountiful and represents the local fare well! The beds are sooooo comfortable, pillows/sheets, etc. The bathrooms are well stocked. But the best feature is their view: unobstructed view of the bay, across 2 mountain ranges, sunset perfectly situated between. It's not always sunny in Anchorage, but it was quite the greeting to us when we arrived. read more

We stayed on 9/10/22 and 9/14/22. I wish that we could have stayed longer. The view from the balcony was amazing! The rooms were spacious and well stocked. We had a very comfortable stay in each of the rooms. The common area is clean and nice, with plenty of room to sit for breakfast. The breakfast setup was phenomenal! Great food and coffee. Monica is a great cook. Also in the common area: books, games, puzzles, and mini refrigerators with bottled water and soda. Very easy to find and within walking distance of the downtown area. Monica was very welcoming, accommodating, and kind. Very communicative even before we arrived. She is a great host! She even let us borrow her Milepost book when we drove up to Fairbanks, it was a great read along the way. I highly recommend this establishment, a hidden gem in Anchorage. read more

We stayed here for one night only but wish we can stay for longer. The hostess Monica is very welcoming. We stayed at the Denali room, it has it's own balcony facing the ocean with amazing view of sunset ! The common area is nice and clean with large balcony facing the ocean as well. The location is perfect, 10 mins walk to downtown and lots of restaurants. Monica also packed us breakfast as we are leaving very early to catch bus to Seward. We stayed at Susitna Place on our first trip to Alaska. The trip started with the drama of my forgetting my passport, without which I could not board the cruise ship. A series of semi-adventures ensued, culminating in my passport being sent counter-to-counter on Continental Airlines from Austin to Anchorage, on the day I was to board the ship. The passport would arrive too late for me to catch the cruise company's shuttle from Anchorage to the ship terminal in Whittier, 67 miles away. Susitna Place's owner, Linda Boles, was majorly helpful and resourceful in several aspects, the most significant being arranging for my passage from Anchorage airport to Whittier after I pick up my passport at Continental's counter. This review would have been the same without that incident, however. Susitna Place is a clean, tidy, and beautiful bed-and-breakfast just off Anchorage's downtown. (It's about a 12 minutes walk at a leisurely pace to center of downtown.) The place has 8 rooms, many with private bathroom, some with shared bathrooms. The rooms are comfortably and cozily furnished. The majority of the bathrooms are newly renovated, clean, with modern and well-functioning fixtures, with ample supplies of towels, liquid soap, body wash, etc. The beds are comfortable. There is free WiFi (ping 59 ms, 0.26 Mb/s upload, 0.06 Mb/s download). The place was built as triplex, with 8 rooms, 5 w/ private bath, 3 without, 7 full bathrooms altogether. We shared the one suite with my cousin and her husband. The suite has a livingroom with a sleeper sofa and a bedroom; the bathroom is accessible from either the living or the bedroom. The "breakfast" part of the deal is above average, in my opinion. We enjoyed a reasonable spread of cereals, several kinds of artisan bread and muffins with butter, cream cheese, jams; breakfast pastries; good quality fruits: mango, blueberries, grapes, plums, etc. along with the usual OJ, tea, coffee, etc. The social aspect of mingling with other guests at breakfast was enjoyable, as with any B&B. The breakfast area has floor-to-ceiling windows, with a kick-@ss view of a beautiful Alaskan inlet. We would definitely stay here if we find ourselves in Anchorage again. read more

Although we only stayed for one night, we found this little gem to be so personal and welcoming that we wished we could stay longer!. We arrived without chargers for our phones (having left them in our checked luggage), and Monica supplied us with some. I arrived without a toothbrush, and Monica gave me a new (packaged) toothbrush. She gave me some liquid night time (over the counter) medication so I could sleep better. And even tough we left very early the next morning she prepared to-go breakfast and lunch snack for us. This place is great! Location! View! Staff! We spent our last night in Anchorage here and our first three at the Arctic fox (owned by the Wildflower Inn) across town. The view of the ocean from the living room and the outside patio is amazing. Great living room with wrap-around windows is really cozy and idyllic. The place is conveniently located to downtown and is in the good part of town. The Arctic Fox was decent and the breakfast was great but its NO comparison to Susitna Place.The view at the Arctic Fox is of the railway station and the industrial part of town. I highly recommend this place after spending 4 nights in Anchorage. read more

If you're on vacation and you're not looking to wake up before 7AM, this is not the place for you (unless you have earplugs) If you're a heavy sleeper and the sound of doors constantly opening and closing, people chatting, and other noises won't bother you, then this place is perfect. Don't get me wrong-- the location is fantastic, walking distance to downtown and Linda keeps a very, very clean spot. It's just the minor detail that when on vacation, i like to sleep in and not be woken up by noises in the house. Great price, i might add. read more

As others have said, the location and view of the place are perfect. We were also able to check in early which was really helpful. I loved all of the light in the living room/common area and the array of board games and reading material. In addition to cable, they have HBO if that is important to anyone. The hosts, Steve and Monica are terrific, incredibly warm and friendly. I was feeling a little skeptical after booking Airbnbs throughout most of our trip but would highly recommend this place and if I'm in Anchorage again, will definitely be staying here read more

Absolutely wonderful. In a downtown area that is overrun with cookie cutter tourist hotels and shops, this place is a great find. Tucked away on a quiet corner of N street, this is a beautiful home that overlooks Cook Inlet. There are about 8-9 rooms here, and I stayed in the Susitna Suite. It had a view of the inlet, a separate sitting area, king sized bed, and private bathroom. Everything was clean and fresh, and the owners gave us wonderful, friendly service. And the view from the living room cannot be beat. Highly recommend. read more

Super comfortable. Lovely large communal room and dining area with views of the inlet and sunsets! Our room also faced inlet and had a view as well from its own patio. Room very well appointed, as all of them appear to be. No noise from others in the front rooms where our friends and we stayed! Nice breakfast with lots of choices. We stayed here 1 night as transitioned from the Kenai Peninsula to Denali. We had a spacious, very comfortable and tastefully appointed room with a large deck overlooking the harbor. Everything was very comfortable. Proprietors were very helpful accommodating our need to depart early for the train in the morning by serving us breakfast a little ahead of schedule as well as ordering taxis, and then helping them find the property (it is rather secluded). This is a great place to stay whether for 1 night or several. read more

Susitna Place was great! Linda was very friendly and sent an email ahead of time with directions to the B&B. She was also extremely helpful on the phone when I asked her a million questions about taxi vs. rental cars. She knew exactly the taxi fares to get to various places I needed to go and helped me to make a good decision on how I would get around. We were only in Anchorage overnight between our commercial flight and our air taxi, and Susitna Place made the perfect stop over. The room was immaculate and comfortable. After our long flight, my boyfriend and I slept very well. Linda was up even at midnight to greet us and get us settled in. Breakfast was very pleasant, anything you might want was there: fresh coffee, tea, juice, herb bread, pastries, sausage, cheeses, cereals, milk, yogurt, and fruit. The living and dining area overlooks the inlet. Linda gave us directions to walk downtown (10 minutes), so we were able to get a small amount of sightseeing in. For less than the price of a crappy hotel we had a comfortable and pleasant stay in Anchorage. I will definitely be back next year. read more

They both are very helpful in giving us information about area attractions, other places in Alaska, and answering our questions.They make an excellent breakfast every morning, freshly prepared, with a nice diversity of items. Our room was spacious, clean, and nicely appointed with abundant closet and dresser space. The bathroom was also very nice, with a double sink, bright lights, and a good shower. This place is only a 10 to 15 minute walk to downtown to our favorite restaurants. Considering its location and amenities, the price was reasonable. Susitna is a winner and we highly recommend it to anyone. read more

The place is super clean and very modern, actually more modern than what it appears on the pictures on Yelp. I wish the breakfast is a bit more fancy, maybe a hot egg dish, even just hot boiled egg with shells on, but I would still highly recommend this place to anyone. read more
