A general, routine eye exam should not take up two hours of a patient's time…read more A patient also ought not be kept waiting alone in an exam room for 30 or more minutes after having the pupil dilation drops placed in their eyes, wondering when (or if) the doc is going to return to the exam room to finish the eye examination. During my appointment, after at least a 30 minute wait, I left the exam room to speak to someone at the front desk about the excessive wait time (who stated that the doc was with another patient), and then returned to the exam room. Magically, the doc re-appeared to the exam room almost instantly. No apology. This was my experience when I went for a routine exam last month. During this experience, I was reminded how much waiting time I encountered during my previous routine eye exam here a few years prior. It causes me to wonder why, when the office does not appear to be in the least bit "busy", a patient who has health care coverage via medical assistance, is subjected to excessive wait time. Certainly other patients would have expressed complaints about excessive wait times if they had encountered them.

I'm extremely nearsighted and from the beginning he educated me about risks associated with this condition; especially retinal tear which is an eyesight emergency. Sure enough, I had one and got in with a retinal specialist the same day. (I can also highly recommend Retina Center [Dr. Vaughn Emerson] -- the referral Dr. Snyder gave me). Dr. Snyder also carries high quality, brand name, designer frames that his friendly staff do a great job helping me choose. (I have 'made in USA', State brand). They measure and help me find ones that are both stylish and fit my face. Figuring I use my glasses every day, it's worth getting really well-fitting and comfortable glasses! I was at a busy lakefront restaurant, with a friend when a magnet popped out of the lense within 2-3 hours of having them. The lenses felt loose, especially compared to my numerous, previous trusted Oakley brand prescription glasses. I called & I was told to bring them in & they could fix them while I wait. I drive from an hour & a half away to bring them in & am told no one is there to fix them & I can drop them off and pick them up after the weekend on Monday. I get a call the following morning saying they were ready. Again, they tell me one thing and do another. The staff is all "nice" but NOT one person acknowledged or apologized for how much of an inconvenience it was for me, the customer. I have owned numerous Oakley glasses for decades & have never had a problem. Just with this eye care center. I have had to adjust two different days of my schedule/time to have repairs done & drive back to pick them up. I lost daylight time, other expenses like gas, when I could have been doing other things. Hours out of my day & not one acknowledgment! I will go back to my former Eye care place that isn't as costly on top of it from now on. Lesson learned! At my other eye doctor place, I got prescription polarized "sunglasses" for at least $100 to $150 cheaper than what I paid them for "CLIP ONS." There's a similar review I read where they showed zero concern as well. I've run multimillion dollar companies & trained management, employed thousands of diverse people, I imagine someone told them "not" to say sorry or be apologetic because it might "imply" fault on their part. But, A little empathy/sympathy goes a long way. They knew I was irritated by the situation & their obvious inferior product or someone's apparent ineptitude & did nothing to sympathize or show empathy. They seemingly do not appreciate their customers & it's obvious. I thought I was helping a small town business. When I originally walked in they hounded me like I might steal some $2 glass frames. I simply wanted to see & pick out my glasses before deciding to go with them & I politely told them I was looking for Oakley brand specifically, if I didn't find any I liked I would go somewhere else. They tried getting my name and information before I had even decided to go with them. I should have noted that as a red flag and left & gone somewhere that are used to diversity in skin tone. I wouldn't trust buying the clip on magnetic sunglasses if this is how it's going to be. I typically don't waste my time on reviews but I have had enough of businesses that show zero remorse and pass off inferior product at high end prices. They seemingly have a huge overhead in staff that hound you, except when you bring it in for repairs, then no one is there, like I was told there would be. It should have all been done right the first time. Incompetence, inferior product and zero accountability really bothers me. I'll wear my old prescription glasses and prescription sunglasses so I don't break my new ones again and waste more time with this company. I tested out the "polarized" clip on sunglasses and they do not seem like they are "polarized" whatsoever! I had to take them off to see the fish in the water. I've owned polarized sunglasses and this is not it!

Their frame selection is au courant, and they offer Blackfin, Masunaga, Andy Wolf, Maui Jim, and Dita, amongst others. Their optometrist is empathetic, listens, and thorough, plus Uptown Vision accepts most insurance policies. Trust me, it's the way to go in the Twin Cities.
