What better way to explore little-ol Key West than on a moped? I've been here on two day trips and having a moped is an excellent way to get around. Mopeds can park in a bunch of places for free, next to the bikes. As for Moped Hospital's service - it's great. They respond to any hiccup quickly and efficiently. Whether it's me forgetting how to turn on the moped or anything else -- they're always quick to answer the phone and if need be - come check in. Although their mopeds aren't the newest ones their prices are unbeatable. We got the 2 seater model and they are quite comfortable and have loads of storage space (under seat, and on basket). Last time we rented it for 4.5hrs and only got charged for than 3 hours. Really good deal and kind service all around! read more

We rented a three-wheel electric scooter for 24 hours. We had so much fun with it! The electric scooters were brand new and for what I hear, they are the only place in Key West where you can rent them. The scooter was big enough to sit two comfortably. We felt confident enough to park it anywhere because of its alarm system. I left my phone in it by mistake and when I went to get it I set off the alarm. I didn't even move the scooter! It was impressive how sensitive it is. We picked it up at 3pm and they let us keep it until closing time the next day. The battery life was amazing! Not to mention not having to pay for gas. We changed the battery the next afternoon only because the place was a block away from our hotel; but we really didn't have to. We were at 58% and 3 hours to go on our rental, that was enough battery to get around. The staff was very friendly and very helpful. It was a pretty straight forward business. No hidden fees! I would definitely come back to the Mopped Hospital in the future. Every team member has been very courteous, making sure we get the bike fitted to each of us, that we have the locks and lamps for safety when riding later in the day. I called this place because our friends actually rent from them and said they were happy. When I spoke to someone about our reservation and a specific scooter because my husband is taller than most and we wanted to be comfortable. I spoke to a Zach who was polite and said he would do his best to find us something that would work. He said he had us down with a note that we need a larger scooter. I was fine with that. Now today I called because we wanted to be sure a license wasn't needed and apparently I spoke to the manager who to say the least sounds like a piece of s**t with no clue on how to speak to a customer. If I'm giving your company money, you better appreciate the biz and talk to me properly especially after you say you see nothing on the books for the day I thought I reserved with a different employee. Because I was asking questions and was frustrated that my reservation wasn't entered, he thought it would be better to hang up on me than try to work with me. Prior to vacationing in the Keys there are three scooter rentals, and out of the three, Moped Hospital is the least expensive. One of the owners-Hendrick, was exceptionally nice to deal with and patient. The place closed at 6:30 P.M. and he stayed with us after closing to make sure two out of the four of us were able to ride . Great experience at this establishment!!! Everyone was very easy going and helpful. This was our first trip to Key West and getting scooters was definitely the best way to see the island. Parking is clearly an issue in KW, but not when you have a scooter. We were able to see all the sights at our own pace as well as tour the residential areas of the island. The best service we received in Key West was here! Four of us girls showed up to rent bicyles for two days. But then we asked if we could keep them and extra day and they said no problem. The good-The rates are pretty good and they're initially nice when you rent from them. The not so good-The sign out front says $35 for a 24 hour rental for a single-seat model; however, they tell you $40 when you walk in. They also charge $5 for gas. No big deal though. The bad-These scooters have been abused. They're scratched all over the place. The mirrors don't adjust on some, parts are loose, and the kickstand didn't work properly on the model I rented. To make matters worse, I was charged $35 for a loose turn signal mount when I know it was already like that. They get you with the "you signed the check off sheet"! If you rent from here plan on spending several hours documenting every single scratch and every single broken part on the entire scooter; otherwise, you will get swindled like I did. There's not enough time in a one week vacation to document the wear and tear on these junkers. Just rent somewhere else. They'll scam you too! read more

A1A experience! We ended up at Moped Hospital by coincidence. We had rented a 6 seater golf cart with Sunset Watersports through one of the many booths you find in the area. The guy at the booth made us get on a shuttle that took us to the wrong place and they ended up dropping us off at Moped Hospital. The guy working the front desk was so helpful and attentive and even went out of his way to help us by calling the other company. Unfortunately Sunset Watersports was not helpful at all but we ended winning in the end because we ended up using Moped Hospital instead. They sent me the incorrect part and then it took me 3 weeks of calling and emailing before I ever got a hold of anyone! (after promises that someone would call me back -- they never did). When i did finally make contact the attitude was that it was my fault! no apologies, no taking responsibility for sending the wrong part and absoluetly no effort to rectify the situation and send me the correct one. just another empty promise for a USP call tag and a "refund once they receive the part." The staff was friendly and very concerned about safety. The manager (owner?) was there and he was very respectful to the customers and the employees. They were welcoming to every customer that walked in the door, even with being only 20 mins from closing. Our contract agreement was kept to the full extent of the terms. Although, a good percentage of their equipment was not the newest around, it was maintained in good shape (minor dings, a few tears in the seats). Bottom line...they deliver what they promise and with nothing less than the Key West welcoming spirit. Pretty great operation. 10% off if you mention you are repeat customer, which we are. Got a moped there and there was some issue with the carburetor. Brought it back and they swapped me out to another one that runs great and topped out at 42mph. $90 for 2 day weekend rental plus $5 gas. The scooters appear to be in top notch condition, there were only a couple of scooters left when I came in witch indicates to me that they are doing a good job satisfying their customers. My own scoot was broken down, bad ignition solenoid. I called the Moped Hospital out of desperation, stuck mid island, no idea what to do. These guys were no less then stupendous ! They came out and picked me and my scooter up. Went back to the "Hospital" and immediately dropped everything to repair my scooter. They even had the part I needed. I had the privilege of speaking to everyone who was working and they couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. The new owner was also there and was very friendly and professional. I can say in the past I have dealt with some shady moped rental agencies from Hawaii to Thailand most of them have left me with the same impression most used car lots have left me with. That being said, Moped Hospital does none of that... They staff is friendly and patient (Henry at the front desk is really personable). We rented a moped for 24 hours but after about three hours decided that we actually didn't need it (especially after we realized we had plans to drink a fair amount of wine that night - and would prefer to walk home). We brought it back exactly at the three hour mark, and while I expected some sort of negotiation to ensue there was none... Henry calculated the price which was exactly fair and even waived the $5 gas we had paid for since we had used so little. I can't say enough good stuff about this place. read more
