They say you should find a reliable garage once you become a grown up so you can establish a vehicle maintenance routine. I'm grateful that More Than Tires has been a reliable place to go for annual inspections and repairs! It has been my experience that management here does their best to take care of your vehicle without trying to charge you for services or other suggestions you don't need. As an example, I recently needed tires for my vehicle, and they were able to work up several options ranging from the cheapest they could find on the market, to the premium upper range, as well as a reasonable mid grade too. I appreciate that I can schedule service and drop my vehicle off the night before, which makes it way more convenient for me than having to sit and wait for the work to be done. The technicians here work efficiently and I've not had an issue that ended up requiring my vehicle to be here longer than they said it would need to be. Make sure you call ahead for an appointment though - like most garages that do good work, they AREN'T generally a "walk in same day" establishment! only good for oil changes, charges me about $40-$50... other than that they find stuff to do for unnecessary reasons... my car was stuck on limp and the reason was i forgot to plug in one of the sensors and instead of plugging it back in and clearing the code they ran a whole diagnostics test and charged me over $130 told me they ran a test and told me the code, two days later it went on limp and i decided to take it to my own hands and borrowed a OBDII sensor and found out i needed a new throttle body... another instance, i needed to replace ONE tire and gave them the size and everything, somehow they manged to give me a tire thats an inch bigger than the other 3 tires, kind of ironic for a company to have "tires" in the name... In conclusion learn how to fix your own car and make money off working on others cars so that these mediocre type of shops dont eat up your wallet. read more

I have an older vehicle, 1989. Ethan was the person that I talked to. I needed a head gasket replaced. He told me that when he worked on it before, he would find 12 other things needing replaced. so, he said that they would need $2,000 up front to do the job!! Who has that kind of money when they are disabled and collecting disability once a month that is only half of what he wanted??!! This place is a big rip-off, especially for disabled and elderly people!!! Stay far, far away from them!!!!! read more

I took a commercial trailer in for inspection. We perform a DOT Safty Check everytime we take the trailer out. This check includes checking brake and tail lights. When I took the trailer to drop it off, one of my employees followed behind the trailer. It was getting dark so the trailer lights were very visible. When we got to More than Tires I asked my guy how the tail lights looked. He said everything was working fine. Imagine my supprise the next afternoon when I went to pick it up and was handed a bill for almost $400. they had replaced both tail lights that were working fine 12 hours earlier. I asked to speak to the inspecting mechanic about this and was eventually told to leave and not come back. Did they really think I would come back?? read more

I had my tires replaced here, they put a five year old tire on one of the wheels. When I told them, they did not apologize and in general did not seem friendly. I would not recommend them. read more

Got a flat on my car. Valve stem was torn. Jacked it up, pulled the wheel and took it in at 2:45 to get a new valve stem and balance. Woman wants to know if I can drop it off and come back next week?!?!?!? WTF?!?!? I have a wheel and tire already off the car, it's only 2:45, and you can't fix it until next week? Ok, how about you just put in a valve stem and I'll get it balanced later? Nope! Best they can do is "try to get to it tomorrow." WTH?!?!? Ended up at Barrick's Tires in Newville. Carry it in the shop. They put a stem in and balance it. I drive around and pay. And it was all done in less then 15 minutes for $15. read more

Had a steering rack put in my truck last month also had them do an alignment. From day one when I took the truck the truck did not drive right it wore my tires funny I took the truck back to them to have them realignment .Basically the first time you had to hold it at 80 for the car to drive straight they reversed it now you hold it at 50 to drive Straight . I asked another mechanic what the issue could be he said that he feels like they didn't line it back up when they put the steering rack in the steering column all back together. But of course nobody wants to admit fault I've been back out there three times the problem still hasn't fixed itself I'm over it so this is good as it gets for me!!! read more

Need an inspection plus an oil chance. Not a big deal, however they do work and CHARGE you for it without your consent. They put in a fuel system that cost me $15. They told me it's recommended by my manufacturer, funny thing , I read and read my owners manual and no where does it recommend fuel system cleaner. Just another way cheap garages getting more from the consumer. I take full responsibility for this because I didn't believe they would STEAL from the consumer. read more

I came here to get 2 new michelin defender tires on the front. Left there with a vibration in the front tire. Talked to them about having a vibration in my front end, they test drove it an asked the technician if there was a vibration....he said "no". Solutiom: Taking my rim off an taking it to my tire guy. Turns out a bent rim will balance perfect, but still have a vibration on the vehicle going done the road. An going to another tire place an getting the other 2 tires put on. NOT COMING BACK TO THIS PLACE AGAIN!!! Update: they ordered a used rim to replace it. The problem was when they test drove it to get a tire pressure sensor to go off, they bent the rim...how do you bend a rim? I won't be coming back here...just a simple 2 tire replacement turned into 2 months of vibration. They have a manic for a test driver there. Stay clear of this place!! Update: They result of purchasing 2 front tires, i get a bent rim, damaged wheel bear hub, an damaged front cv axle. Expensive 2 front tires....that's why I'm staying clear of this place. read more

They must be under new mgnt because they now do not want repeat business after the service I received today. To replace one $60.55 tire, rotate the tires and change the oil it took over an hour after they took the car back and then...wait for it, charged me $155.60!! I should have disputed some of the charges but instead I vowed never to return. The reason I went this time is because I had a very good experience 18 to 20 months ago, but this was add-on hell. read more

I travel quite a bit for my job, so when another garage in Carlisle wasted six days telling me the wheels I had ordered were coming in but then they left me high and dry on the sixth day with only three wheels; Bob was able to bail me out almost immediately For about $400 less even. We did hit a small glitch in the wheel order, but he took care of that as well. They've earned all my automotive maintenance service business. Honest, professional, and competively priced too. Excellent service and reasonable pricing. Was impressed by the courteous demeanor all the staff exhibited and their flexibility accommodating work my SUV needed. (My husband tried t get oil changed at a local dealership and they couldn't give us an appointment for over a week.) I'm grateful that they were able to work my vehicle repairs in easily here. This place will stick it to you!!! Go somewhere else for your state inspection or don't wait till the last min so you can go get a second opinion!!!! I have bought Tires from More than tires on two different occasions at the Carlisle spring swap meet. I have called them up on the phone a got Quotes on what i needed and they always had them waiting for me at the show, I live in Connecticut. I just Emailed them last week about 4 more tires that i need, and the next day i got a answer from Bob on the price, and he will have them at the show this week. so so far for me I have had good luck with them. They should change the name to "Not Even Tires". I paid nearly $1,000 for four new Continental tires at More Than Tires. Rated at 50,000 miles. At 12,000 miles two are nearly bald although they were rotated by them at 5,000 miles and always properly inflated. Politely told my long story to the guy at the counter, he came out and looked at them they says "I'm not the tire guy". He took me back inside to talk to another gentleman. Went through the whole deal again. He goes out and looks then says "The tire guy isn't here, he's at the fairgrounds selling tires". Does he have a phone? "Probably but I have no way to reach him."
