This was my first and last visit to this establishment. The customer service was average to say the least, but the lasting impression left by one of the employees prevents me from returning. I received a gift and went to exchange the gift. I wasn't aware that there was a time limit for exchanges, and this was no problem because most stores have this practice. I stated that the gift was purchased and presented to me. The lady asked me if I had anyone to give it to....talk about offensive. Once again, I understood their return policy and didn't question the policy at all. But the lack of sensitivity is what I question. I wanted the gift simply because someone gave it to me, and the store employee kept my receipt. Lastly, the store is overpriced for the products. Cute little whatnots...but not for me. read more

Unfortunately the bag I brought my item back was rumpled from being tossed away in error. So when I bought a new piece of merchandise & exchanged a bracelet a loved one gave me, the clerical person wrapped the new product in the crumpled tissue paper & put it in the crumpled bag. I love this store. Sometimes I plan a day around going here! Pathetic isn't it? It's not exactly close to my house so I find excuses to go here. It's a great gift store and so much fun to shop here. This wonderful store has always been a favorite of mine. I am really starting to question their customer service. I was greeted by a very nice lady when I entered the store. She was sweet and very helpful. The problem is when you check out.....the two ladies working looked as if they had rather been anywhere but at the store! No smiles, ' no were you able to find everything....just blank faces going through the drill! I notice this more and more whenever I shop here. I have struggled with this gift shop for the past few years. They have adorable items and a ton of pandora jewelry, which is big in my family, but I really dislike their customer service. I guess it's because I've worked in retail or maybe because I'm in Communication, but I can't stand to be treated like I'm a bother to a store owner or employee. And it's happened on numerous occasions here. The last time I went, I spent over $200 on gift items and the woman seemed irritated when I would ask her questions or ask for help. For my birthday my mom ordered a Pandora ring and when we went to go pick it up, it didn't look anything like the ring she had ordered, so naturally we wanted a return. They said they could only give us store credit (which is illegal FYI). So safe to say I will never be back and thankfully she put it on the credit card and got it taken off. By far my FAVORITE place to stop for gifts. They always have something cute for any woman in your life. I find the best birthday presents there and they are always a big hit! From pandora, college themed items, picture frames, paintings, to shot & wine glasses... They have it ALL! Because they have so many different items you can get overwhelmed by all the possibilities! They also carry "Tyler Candles" which are a huge hit and usually difficult to find. The store itself is a little crammed, I feel like its time to update their layout or move into a larger space. I went back up there and they happily ordered me another size of the same Ronaldo bracelet which I'm waiting to get soon. They have literally anything you could need from stationary, home decor, fun college mascot decor, jewelry (large selection- Pandora, Ronaldo, VSA, etc) Andrea was such a sweetheart and helped me find my very first VSA piece! She was honest and genuine. Very bubbly personality! All of the ladies who helped out were amazing! Loved the set up and the atmosphere of the place! I intentionally choose to support local businesses when possible, even if the cost might be a few $$ more, so I can support my community and the individuals who live here. However, I also need to feel that I'm supporting something GOOD, and I've consistently felt that the vibes in this store suggest that condescension is a community quality. On my last visit, and I hope it can be my last, an older adult woman who had spent quite some time (and $$) selecting gifts requested gift-wrapping. The young employee was given some specific requests for the wrapping. She smilingly handed the wrapped packages to the customer and as soon as the lady's back was turned, changed her expression to one of disgust, sighed heavily, and rolled her eyes. Then she walked off, even though I had been waiting to check out. Very unbecoming. The deal breaker, however, was watching the ordeal my mother-in-law went through to make a purchase - tons of questions, ending in a request to see her ID along with her credit card. Despite the fact that the major cards and financial journals recommend that clients NOT provide a vendor with this information, I know many businesses feel they still need to. It was the explanation that killed me. From "We want to protect our client's credit" to "We care so much about our customer's financial safety," comment after untrue and patronizing comment rolled out of that clerk's mouth. Most of us are well-aware that we will not be liable for charges we don't make and that by providing the card plus more info, we are actually enabling someone to more easily access our financial resources. Just offer a little honesty and say that you have to protect your business, rather than treating customers as unintelligent and gullible. At this point, I left without making my purchase. The store has tons of cute things, but it's not worth it to support this kind of customer disrespect. read more

Have shopped there over the years...beautiful items, love their jewelry. Unfortunately, many times, I have felt like I was an inconvenience to their salespersons. Although, I love the stock they have to offer, I am always a little hesitant to actually visit More :Than Words. Also, for whatever reason, plz know they are unable to accept Visa or American Express Gift Cards...unusual and such a disappointment for those that receive those for Christmas (especially teachers). read more

I used to love this store. For the past three years, it was my go to for thoughtful gifts because they carry such a variety of products ranging from jewelry to bath soaps, inspirational gifts, and so much more. However, my most recent experience in late July left me walking out of the store saying to myself, "I will never shop in this store again." A couple of days before I went into the store, I called the store to check if they would replace a bracelet that had broken after only 5 months of having it. They said they would. When I got to the store, I spoke with a lady, who I believe may have been in a management position. She asked me where the broken bracelet pieces were and I explained that the pieces had gone rolling all over the restaurant and I was unable to recover them all to bring back to the store. She informed me that I should have brought the broken pieces back (probably all worth less than $3.00) and I requested that she look my name up in the system for proof that I had purchased the bracelet 5 months ago (as well as multiple others that I had bought for gifts over the years). She then instructed me that next time I could just go to Hobby Lobby and buy some elastic string to fix the bracelet myself! I told her that I actually had a friend fix my first bracelet (this one that I was getting a replacement for was my second bracelet)! However, that one had lasted a year before it broke, not only 5 months. I kindly told her that a customer should not be expected to fix a product, especially when it is being sold at a premium. The lady then informed me that the artist "doesn't make a lot of money on each bracelet" and that a portion of each bracelet goes to charity. First of all, it was completely unprofessional to try to make me feel guilty for requesting a free replacement, when I had to repurchase this bracelet for myself because it broke after a year, and now this new one had broken after 5 months. Second of all, NOWHERE on the product label or on the large display table was there any indication that part of the product price went to charity. I did not appreciate being lied to. The employee further proceeded to tell me that the bracelet was made with elastic, so it wasn't very strong and I should have handled it more "carefully." I am very aware that this bracelet is fragile and took utmost care to gently handle it when putting it on and taking it off. There is no reason why two two identical products should have such drastically different life spans (five months versus one year). I was given the replacement bracelet with no box or bag (when it had originally come with that) and sent on my way. When I told my husband what had happened, he said, "Good, I'm glad that you're not shopping there anymore. It's all so overpriced to be treated that way." I am disappointed because I absolutely adored this store. They carry a lot of wonderful brands that I now will shop for on the artist's website, amazon, or another gift boutique. read more

I have always liked this store for unique and special gifts and have spent more than my share of money there. In the past, someone has greeted me and asked if there was something they could help me with; however, a few days ago I went in looking for a specific item I had purchased previously and was bypassed by several employees who seemed rather arrogant and didn't even acknowledge my presence. I still stayed and looked all over the store for the item, almost feeling like I wanted to see how long it would take for someone to offer help. After quite a while I stopped someone and asked since it seemed that no one was interested in assisting me. After being told that they no longer had the item I wanted, I stood at the Rinaldo bracelet counter waiting for help and had to ask to see some items. A very sweet and helpful young girl assisted me and I bought two bracelets from her. In hindsight, I should have walked out and not purchased anything. I will probably not return to the store. I think management should consider the fact that independently owned establishments are rapidly disappearing and if they want to stay in business they need to take a hard look at their customer service. read more

All I can say is that the woman complaining about dropping in on New Year's Eve must have an IQ in the single digits. Who does that? And never,ever, ever in the 20 years I have shopped there have I received anything other than the most gracious service from the most helpful staff. And unprofessional in their dress? Terrible. I found the staff to be incredibly unprofessional, both in their dress and in their behavior. I ran in on New Year's Eve, a night on which I expected special hours. There was no note on the door to indicate otherwise, so I went in. Everybody seemed to be instantly aggravated that I was there. I was quick in my selection. The girl pulled the wrong chain and then ARGUED with me that it was the same as the one I had asked for. She was obviously flustered with trying to close while I was there, despite the absence of a sign on the door. I was tired of being rushed, especially over a transaction in which I would have spent a significant amount of money, so I paid for just one charm and left. Bottom line: if you want to go home at 5:00 on New Year's Eve, that's fine. I don't blame you, but have the decency to stick a note on the door, and conduct yourself with a little bit of class, even if you have to stay 15 minutes longer than you expected, when you fail to do so.
