I thought root canals were supposed to be painful! This is the second root canal that I have had done by Dr Kim. The first one I thought maybe I was just lucky because it was no worse than having a filling. The second root canal was just as pain free and I attribute this to Dr Kim skill and not luck. this review is long overdue & i've recently relocated so i'm sad i won't be coming here anymore if i need anything else done in the future. several months back, my root canal had an infection where my gums were feeling swollen in the area. i was deathly afraid of having surgery on it. my dentist referred me to a different endodondist covered by my insurance but i didn't trust the reviews of that one or the location so i found dr. arita on yelp instead. i'm so happy i went with dr. arita! he & his staff are so welcoming & caring. dr. arita's office isn't covered under my insurance so i had to pay out of pocket but he made sure my payment was very fair. no extra hidden fees, everything is plain black & white. i wouldn't have had it any other way. i was reassured, treated very well & the surgery was painless from start to finish. his front desk administrative assistant, mari, is very caring & did follow ups making sure i was recovering okay. she was also quick to reply to my texts & phone calls whenever i had any questions or concerns. i knew i was in good hands with their whole team. i went in for a consultation at first, which was very brief. there i had met dr. arita & found out co$t of treatment, how he would treat my infection, how to prepare pre-surgery & what was to be expected post-surgery. next appointment was the actual surgery, which took a couple hours but i was comfortable the entire time. if you have dentist/oral surgery phobia, i SO empathize with you & trust you will be in great hands if you come here. 5 star service all the way around! my teeth & gums are so healthy & feel so good now. thank you dr. arita & everyone there for your care & making my appointments go smoothly & non-traumatizing. happy holidays! read more

I was here 2x for root canals. The 1st time was OK - I felt comfy since he can be very talkative / bubbly which can put you at ease. The second time, I went in because of tooth pain and he didn't think I needed a root canal and sent me home. A few days later, the pain increased quite a bit and I needed to come in for a root canal. It was 6 more days of pain before I could get seen and I was referred to another endodontist. If he caught it when I was in the office, it wouldn't saved me some pain. I came back for another root canal on a different tooth, he forgot I was even in the office recently and missed a few other key points. I told him I had anxiety from my last experience with another endodontist and he brushed it off and showed little empathy. Firstly, I never thought I would be writing a review about a dentist but this one is worthy of praise. Like many, I was referred to Dr. Arita because of a previous root canal which now had an issue. Long story short, I had to have my original root canal from years prior redone as it was starting to abscess. Dr. Arita explained exactly what he was going to do and what outcomes I could expect etc. I think this the most pleasant dentist appointment I've ever had if one could possibly be. And what was amazing was that not once did I feel the slightest pain or even any mild discomfort. I didn't even feel the shot! My dentist referred me to an endodontist for a root canal and, in addition, I sought out Dr. Arita for a 2nd opinion due to high praises for his exceptional treatment and trust from several friends and family members. With his calming nature, he focused on my concerns and explained my options in detail. My tooth was severely calcified and via a 3Dxray, he was able to see if I had an infection, which was one of my concerns and thus allayed my fears that I would be ok if the procedure were unsuccessful. I have had several unsuccessful and painful root canals by specialists in the area. Somehow I found Dr Arita and never had those problems again. He gives a shot that is very near painless, which is important to me as I am somewhat dental phobic. He also explains what he is doing in detail. I know I always present with a difficult case, but Dr Arita can handle it! I know other endodontists would just say to pull the tooth but this guy is fiercely determined to get the job done and save the tooth. Ben Stein DDS referred me to Charles Arita M DDS when he saw I needed a root canal. Root canals is all that Dr. Arita does and it shows. It was the best root canal I have ever had. I have only had one other but it was so bad that I avoided dentists at almost any cost. Which is why I needed another root canal. The local anaesthesia (shot) was almost painless and accurately removed the pain from the affected area. During the procedure Dr. Arita constantly spoke to me to inform and distract me. It was almost pleasant other than having to hold my mouth open for an hour or so. Afterwards I only needed some naprasin for a couple of days to easy the pain. If I ever need a root canal again in whatever area of the country I find myself I think I'll fly back to Dr. Arita's office. Tip: Dr. Arita informed me during the procedure that the best time to go get such a procedure is during the middle of the year. At the beginning and at the end of the year patients are flooding the medical offices to use up their medical benefits or finish a procedure that was started at the end of the year. So if you plan correctly and get your dental work done in the middle of the year the doctors are less stressed and appointment are easier to get. read more

Drill phobia...check, needle phobia...check, check,... I am simply phobic about anything dental. After I shattered a back tooth, I went to another dentist who didn't want to touch it, he referred me to Dr. Arita. Apparently Dr.Arita is "the man" according to the first dentist I saw. Their office called Dr. Arita's office and they fit me in the same day. Ended up needing a root canal. Dr. Charles Arita has proven to be one of the best dentists I've ever had work on my mouth. I just had my first root canal, ever, performed by Dr Arita last Thursday and while it is still early in my treatment, I believe it was successful. He has shown me how much he cares about his patients by contacting me during this weekend to ask how I am doing. I have never had a Dr do that before. He had explained the procedure thoroughly and what I might experience afterward, what to do, and prescriptions if needed. I just needed to let him know. OMG, what an AWESOME dentist! I drove from San Jose to Morgan Hill to have Dr. Arita do a root canal and it was painless. Dr. Arita is very professional and personable. First, he numbed my gum at the injection site before the shot of Novocain. If I didn't know what he was doing, I would not known I was getting an injection. My lips were dry so his assistant put Vasoline on them so I would be comfortable during the root canal. Dr. Arita told me what he was doing every step of the procedure. He used a rubber shield to keep any debris from going in my mouth during the root canal. I was able to breathe easily and I was happy I had the shield on. The root canal took about an hour and at the end, Dr. Arita walked me to the front desk and handed me over to the receptionist to make my follow-up appointment. His entire staff is fantastic, they are extremely helpful and friendly. The office is beautiful with great equipment. An Andes chocolate awaits for you when you check out! You can't go wrong going to this dentist and you'll be happy you did, I highly recommend him!! read more

Had to go in for a Root Canal and was dreading it. Everyone had scared me about how painful it is.. However, Dr. Arita clearly knows his stuff! He thoroughly explained the procedure to me, before and during the process. He described in detail exactly what he was doing and kept talking to keep me distracted. As a bonus - he was really funny too! He made sure I was completely numb so I didn't feel any pain during the operation and I didn't really have any pain afterwards either. Never thought a root canal could be a good experience but Dr. Arita made it so! Wonderful doctor. I had a root canal that was still giving me great sensitivity, I was referred to him by my regular dentist and managed to see him the same day. It didn't take him long to figure out exactly what was causing my pain and the very next day I was scheduled for a correction procedure. He took plenty of time administering the anesthesia and I felt absolutely nothing during the entire process. He has an amazingly calming and straight forward attitude that immediately puts you at ease as it is obvious he knows exactly what he's doing. He talked though out the process which I found very reassuring - he's also great fun to listen to!
