Michelle is a brilliant detective and excels at finding the root of problems rather than just treating symptoms. I do a lot of powerlifting, Olympic weightlifting, and running, and she's helped me with both acute injuries as well as overall recovery and maintenance. Michelle has guided me through back injuries, a torn ACL (avoided surgery thanks to her!), tendinitis, bursitis, a concussion, and everything in between. Not only is Michelle a top notch physical therapist, but she's also incredibly thoughtful in how she approaches her practice. She has a very holistic approach to what she does and her knowledge of food allergies, supplements, and the effect of stress on the body have also been quite helpful for me. Who knew a physical therapist could help fix what your GI doctor gave up on? So, I saw Rachel for therapy to see what could be done to fix it. She helped a lot with massage, then proper stretching, and now exercising. She analyzed how I moved and spotted where I was having a problem, then made great suggestions on what to do going forward. What was important to me was not just fixing the immediate problem but also working on prevention, she spotted some corrective things I should be doing too. I'll admit I am not a "good" patient in terms of following the new routine but I gotta say when I do things are LOTS better. I am impressed, I'll be back!

Erica dry needled my arm after an injury. I had fallen and hurt my elbow pretty badly. My arm…read moreextension wasn't great and due to availability, it would be a bit before I could see an arm specialist. Erica was able to see me and after one session even she was able to work out a pretty awful knot in my bicep, which was a limiting factor in extending my arm. It really helped my comfort as I waited to see an arm occupational therapist, I've also gone to Erica for a couple of sessions in my back too when I can feel my movement has gotten limited from pulling something. She has great bedside manner and is able to explain everything as she does it. During evaluation, she also explains how my poor life choices have led me to these nasty knots. Needles freak me out but I felt reassured by her showing it to me and letting me know what to expect. Her instructions for aftercare have also been helpful. She's given me different levels of stretches to do post session, and includes really simple ones that I can do without a lot of formal set up/ones that don't take a long time, which makes it easier to do when you don't feel like you have a lot of time in the day. So read that stance again- this practice TAKES INSURANCE. For most people that means nothing- there's an assumption of we have insurance so a practices should take it. As an insurance accepting practice myself- that is NOT how it works. Small medical practice's (solo woman owned / mom and pop establishments etc like this one)- take a HUGE hit when accepting insurance contracts for their reimbursement. At this point many small business are getting paid HALF of what their cash only / self pay only counterparts are getting paid. Also- keep in mind, an insurance contract doesn't increase with inflation, cost of living, rising employer salaries etc.... I give the business lesson because it's only fair for people to be informed as to why a business structure is what it is for the sake of survival... Now on to the actual PRACTITIONERS- this staff is honestly saving people from surgeries, worsening conditions, and maladaptive body patterns... I've been working with them for 8-9 years and my mom now drives from VA to go to them as well. They're priceless in their cleanliness, knowledge, anatomy and functionality awareness plus FULL body attention. I cannot express how many times a DOCTOR or SURGEON has sent me in for an issue- and they've figured out it's stemming from somewhere totally different ! I've had much better experiences with subsequent AT teachers. Gabrielle doesn't listen well and gets offended if you disagree with her and exhibits very childish behavior. There was a day she sat in a chair for 30 minutes because she said she was too frazzled to work because I was expressing something to her about pain I experienced and she was disagreeing about the pain that I had, and trying to tell me it was all in my head and the type of pain I have doesn't make sense. I disagreed and she said she felt attacked, sat in silence saying she could not work the way she was feeling and then charged me for an entire session for which most of it she just sat down in a chair staring into space. Definitely would not recommend her to anybody especially people of color, it's clear she does not work with us often and she exhibits a lot of white fragility tactics and microaggressions. if you disagree with her she says she feels attacked and gets upset like a child. I literally had to explain to her that I was not attacking her I was merely expressing my difference in opinion. She then admitted that I did not attack her but she still felt attacked and was unable to focus to work, this happened on more than one occasion. The first time I chalked it up to her having a bad day and gave her another chance but when it occurred again I decided to not return. An AT instructor should be emotionally regulated before working with students and she definitely is not. She is also very overpriced, other AT instructors in the area charge about $100 or so per session and she is charging double for that but offering subpar service. DO NOT RECOMMEND!

Our sessions focused on empowering me with the tools and knowledge to get over some difficult knee pain. One day, she even dropped what she was doing to help me with a completely unrelated but critical health issue, and followed up later with a phone call to ensure I was still okay.
