Morgan Sound provides unique specialized speaker repair services. From professional studio monitors and amplifiers, to guitar amps, to many professional PA brands, they can fix things others can not. Think professional. Morgan Sound is primarily a business to business business company. So voice phone them to see if they can solve your problem before assuming they can solve your problem. In the professional world, Harmon International-Samsung dominates. JBL was absorbed into Harmon. JBL, still today, has support voice lines answered by humans and a web list of authorized professional service centers by geography. I contacted my local (Portland, Oregon) authorized professional JBL service center. "Well we are backed up for 12 weeks and our minimum evaluation charge is [expensive]." Basically that Portland, Oregon business does not want more business. It is understandable, with the shortage of skilled specialized professional technicians, no fault, no blame. So it was worth it to spend $60 per round trip to travel to Seattle for better service. I'm sure Morgan could provide the service by shipping too. I had several problems to solve with a vintage pair of JBL professional monitors similar to today's JBL L100 classic. I bought them used and these were reputedly used and abused by a professional producer of a famous band. One woofer had a rip in the cone from being overworked, and one mid had some crinkles in the cone and a big wrinkle at the edge. So I brought the woof to Morgan. After I dropped it off for evaluation, I was in my vehicle doing some phone stuff and the repair professional ran out saying they found an original new old stock cone kit in their inventory. Today many 40+ year old speakers rely on reproduction spare parts. In the JBL pro world, they actually did (and do) speaker engineering using exotic test equipment. I bought these old speakers because I recorded on them professionally in my early career, so understand how they translate. At that time, JBL used paper cones with Aquaplas elastomeric coating. Aquaplas is not made anymore, though there are reproductions of unknown equivalence. Morgan had the original cone replacements with original Aquaplas. Picking up my newly reconed woof, I brought in my suspect crinked mid which had an exotic cone material. They were, "checked, we have the original recone kit for that, and we can do it while you wait, for this price. It's speced in our year 2000 JBL repair manuals for both the H2 and H3 speaker variations." That's service! They run incoming speakers and repair results through a tone listening test. In my observation, they have at least 3 repair staff. A senior person, mid-Zach, and young-Zach. I dealt with young-Zach. They all are recommended. Morgan Sound, hang on to young-Zach. Every interaction I had with him was stellar. I'm sure it would be the same for all your service staff. While I was there, the senior person was working on a Genelec. That company, based in Finland, is one of the top 5 professional makers of recording studio monitors in the world. Morgan seems to be best with voice calling. The guy that repairs speakers is very difficult to deal with. After they initially fixed my problem buy jimmy rigging something, I got the speaker home and it had a buzz during playback. The speaker repair guy works odd hours. Finally, he looked at it. He wanted to know what kind of buzz it was. Wasn't sure how to explain that. Just a buzz during playback. He then wanted to know if it was in the highs or lows and was it during loud or soft playback. I don't know. Just a buzz. He couldn't hear it and neither could I at his place but I got home and their it was again. I'm not going back there though. I bought new speakers and wasted 85 bucks and several trips to their place. read more

My first review of this company was a cutting report of a dismal experience. I feel I had been mistreated as a customer and that really made a negative impact, and I was more than willing to make that experience known. I am a manager for a business and I support local businesses as much as I possibly can. When a negative customer interaction occurs- it is easy to give the bird and say whatever; or, you can reach out and try to honestly figure out what happened and rectify the situation for the future. I'm happy that Charlie Morgan contacted me to find out exactly what went on. My initial reaction was reluctance to call him, because I would bet that some owner's want to twist an arm to twist an opinion. However, Charlie seemed very genuine in wanting to know exactly what happened and offer an explanation- without an excuse as to what did occur. I think it's a responsibility to contact owners of businesses if they do contact you about a negative experience. I can sit high and mighty and right stinging words behind a desk and monitor- but what good would that really do anyone other than my already puffed ego? All of this said- I did get a great quote on great equipment- that is the bottom line, and that is why I did choose Morgan Sound. The service on the day that I went in- was not stellar, but I don't think it's by far the norm- especially since I had gone into Morgan Sound with great reviews from friends and colleagues. Mr. Morgan has addressed some of the issues that did affect my initial review and he does care about the customer and wants to know how they can best be served. I am not writing this update because of any obligation, or twisting, or bribing- i'm writing because Mr. Morgan's honest attempt to find out what happened and his sincere apology. Very pleased with the results from bringing my Fender amp into Morgan Sound for repairs. They did a great job, and in much less time than I ever would have expected. When I first called they were slammed and I was told it would be a few weeks. Hard to imagine without my trusty guitar amp - but then I was told, "hey, we'll call you to bring it in when we've ready for it". Net result, I could still enjoy the amp till they called. The repair was done super fast, within a day or two...now that's what I call good service. read more

Good speaker repair shop which are increasingly harder to find these days. Brought in high-end amp and they had it running again like new. There's a bit more work to do on it but it's sounds great. Ken fixed 2 pairs of KEF speakers when nobody else would touch them because these were mid-90s models. They sound great now with replaced woofers and surrounds. Ken even took a pair back and redid his work because something wasn't quite right the first time. Brought in 2 M&K subs for repair and they did a great job too. Morgan is mainly for audio professionals [and performing groups] but I brought in two consumer speakers from my surround sound system. They had a worn out surrounds on the woofers and the speakers had not been manufactured for years. Pete Munson, the repair manager, took them and said that their commercial business came first, but he would look at them soon. He determined that the parts were not available, but that his partner had some used speakers that had woofers that were pretty close. I purchased the used speakers and Pete made the switch. Worked perfectly. The charge from Morgan was only $75 for the two speakers repair [plus the $40 I paid for the used ones]. I am very pleased, it saved me from having to purchase seven new speakers. read more

Not a trustworthy company. I called and asked if they could repair/replace faders in my Presonus Studiolive 16.4.2 mixer, they said they could but they were two weeks behind in repairs. I said great, if you can't look at it for 2 weeks, can you put me on the list so I can bring it in closer to when you can look at it? This is because I'm still using it. The faders are mostly working. They said no need, they will look at it immediately, the 2 weeks is just the time it takes for the parts to come in and perform the repair. After 7 days had passed, and after I toughed out not having it for band practices for 1 week, I called to check status and left a message (repair center was open, they just didn't answer). Over 24 hours after I called, I got a call back. They said there was no way they would touch a Presonus. So not only was I told they could fix my faders on a Presonus, they also lied to me about being able to look at it immediately. Not only did they not look at it, they couldn't bother to look at the name of the thing they were supposed to look at, which would have been enough to short-circuit this error. Now I've lost a week and a half on the repair, leaving no time to get it repaired before my next gig, and I've taken time off to commute the 44 miles round trip from Monroe to Lynnwood to drop it off, and other 44 miles to pick it up. Massive waste of time. If you bring something here to be repaired, expect a risk that you may end up with a lot of wasted time like I did. There is some disconnect and lack of communication within the organization, and the result is that you can't trust them. read more

Morgan Sound fixed my Fender Blues Junior under the warranty in April of 2016. They're usually backlogged by 2 weeks, but for good reason. The guys here know what they're doing. Bruce is a cool guy, I had called back in September of 2016 about some questions that only an experienced amp tech would know the answer to and he was more than happy to share his wisdom. It's well worth the wait to get your amp checked out by these guys. They found a failed resistor on a print circuit board amp that was no bigger than the size of a small ladybug and replaced it. Another amp tech in the area was not so generous with my questions, but Bruce was. The same tech refused to perform a modification on one of my amps probably because he lacked the skill to. I was going to ask Morgan Sound to, but I had decided to buy a new amp instead, but I have no doubt that Bruce would've been able do the modification in his sleep. read more

Hired Morgan to do the wireless mics and sound for a one-time musical production held in an Outdoor Amphitheater. Channing was great to deal with in determining our initial equipment needs, and Fraser was the tech who set-up and ran sound for both the rehearsal and performance. We had a threat of rain on the actual performance day and Fraser came prepared with indoor (for out back-up rain plan) and outdoor options, an all-weather system, and a great calm vibe that gave us the confidence to go on with the performance no matter the weather - luckily, it was just a bit cloudy, but the piece of mind, and knowing we were in calm and professional hands was priceless. The cost was reasonable and we feel incredibly fortunate to have found Morgan sound for this event. Besides being true professionals, they have great integrity and wonderful communication.
