I would like to tell everyone about the wonderful experience I had visiting the offices of Brown…read moreand Neuwirth in Hickory North Carolina . I am a very busy businessman and was referred to see Dr.Brown for the removal of a root canal tooth that had a fracture in it . I am often in and out of town , so trying to make an appointment with my schedule can be very difficult at times . I was given a refferal paper to see their office and I called the office to make an appointment . I was greeted by a very pleasant employee of Brown and Neuwirth and this began a very positive reaction and influence in the treatment I was provided . I was able to make an appointment within two days of my call and needed to be seen as this root canal tooth was hurting me . I was given antibiotics by my dentist and pain meds but needed to get an appointment as soon as possible . I was very impressed by the first call and the manner in which the staff very professionally interviewed me basically for my appointment to make sure I had my xrays with me and the refferal form . They asked questions to me about my insurance and I provided all the insurance information at that time . Needless to say , even before my appointment this office had confirmed my insurance benefits and were ready to discuss coverages with me after the consultation . The phone was answered with a "JOY" that you usuallly don't get when calling Dr's offices and I was very impressed . I showed up for my appointment and then gratiously greeted by the lady at the front door or the window to greet new patients . With a smile . I was asked to fill out paperwork and gave my id and insurance card to copy . This is a busy office as there were several patients in the waiting room filling out paperwork and waiting to be seen . I was seated in a room to discuss my case within ten minutes and the employee who brought me to the room , again very pleasant and we discussed my case. Every step this far was such a nice experience . Dr.Brown then came in and introduced himself and we reviewed my case . This is where I will always refer patients to this office . Not only was Dr. Brown concerned about my case, but he was able to get me in for surgery the next day . He also took the time to discuss with me the options for replacing the tooth which my dentist apparently had not even thought of yet . I was told I could leave the space alone where the tooth was taken out , but when I smile you can see the space there with the tooth gone . Or I could do a bridge but I didn't want to do that because one has to have the teeth cut down so much that they aren't even like teeth anymore and both the teeth on either side of the missing tooth where good teeth . Or I could get a dental implant . He showed me models , explained the implants in detail to and gave me a brochure on the implants . I was also able to go to the site of WWW.BrownandNeuwrith.com and on the site you can watch a video on implants . Needless to say in the next three months I plan on replacing the missing tooth with a dental implant . I was so happy with my consult and then it was for free.. no charge . I went to another employee who went over the fees and how insurance works and this completed my first visit . The very next day I had the tooth removed and was asleep for the surgery . When Dr.Brown did the surgery I was all the way asleep and a I barely even felt him start the Intravenous line in my arm . I woke up and amazed we were done . I was able to fly out to work the next day . What a wonderful experience . I will be seeing the office again soon as no followup was necesary for this simple surgery . In the future I may not get a root canal and rather might just go for the implant instead . This is amazing dentists can do things like this now especially for people with dentures . Great office , atmosphere .. employee's and Dr's

She took her mother & a good friend back with her because she is autistic and has selective mutism so often needs someone to speak for her when she can't. Dr. Brown began immediately berating her for not having her wisdom teeth removed earlier in her life. She asked if someone could be with her when the IV was inserted because she was scared. He said, no. She got scared & nervous and of course her mutism kicked in as a panic attack happened. He had a God-like attitude telling them she would get tumors and die. He stated he was the only oral surgeon in NC and if they went elsewhere it would cost them $3,000! In the end HE canceled their surgery! The entire appt was appalling for a person who is disabled with special needs. However, I was in the car waiting and when this young adult came out trembling, crying, sobbing and having a panic attack I realized someone needed to educate him on persons with autism. So I went back in and quietly asked to speak to the dentist. I noted I was not going to cause trouble I simply wanted to have a conversation with him. I was finally allowed back into the treatment area but Dr. Brown immediately started trying to intimidate me. He would not discuss the situation, asked me to leave his premises and threatened to have me arrested. I suggested he call the police so we could work it out. As I went back out in the waiting room he followed me so I stated my thoughts angrily and loudly enough that those waiting knew he had berated and belittled a disabled person who has autism. He followed me outside the building, videoing me with his phone, tried to get the passenger to open their door and videoed my tag. I waited until the police arrived, told my side of the story and left. Be aware if you have dental fear, PTSD, special needs or someone with autism. He has no patience, no understanding and is the most arrogant professional I have ever met! I would NEVER recommend him to anyone.

He frightened him with his method of speaking to him. He refused to address the primary care giver for basic information that she had, instead asking me for the info even though I explained REPEATEDLY that I did not provide the care and so I did not have the answers. When he did speak to her, he spoke down to her. Additionally, my daughter had him for her wisdom teeth removal. She had been referred by her dentist. (If I had known she was going there, I would have helped her search for another oral surgeon.) He treated her as a second class citizen, talking down to her and berating her for not getting her wisdom teeth removed sooner (which her regular dentist didn't recommend at the time). I could go on, but suffice to say that it is an absolute shame that this person is working with people of less means and with disabilities as he treats them horrifically.

And the thing is you wouldn't know because when I ask your staff to speak with you or have you call me. They said no. You told them to handle all such cases and not to bother you with them. I have not canceled twice. And this a work in appt. Made late in the afternoon the day before, I did not keep anyone else from getting or missing an opportunity for an appt. And I told the girl on the phone I might not be able to make it when we talked. It looks like you would want to fix the tooth you were supposed to have fixed months earlier... My daughter is a whole separate person than me. She went off to college and you know that these cleaning appts are made when you leave from an appt months earlier. She did not know that she would be required to do a summer internship 7 hrs away from her home at that time. So I thought it was kind of me to call way in advance to let you know this and you would have time to fill the spot. So you need to do a little more investigating before you tell a patient what they said was not entirely true. When you would not even talk with them. Your staff was very rude a bossy. And they surely cant tell where there are two different people. I cant wait to tell what this next dentist says about the work you did. For it to break entirely in half while brushing my teeth. Good job, in caring about your work and patients

I would like to preface my review by stating that I believe Dr. Sharon Foreman is a very caring and…read morecompetent pediatric dentist who goes above and beyond. Before today, I could not imagine entrusting the dental care of my children to anyone else. Twelve years ago, I began taking my oldest daughter to Dr. Foreman when she was commuting from Asheville and working out of Dr. Scott Murphy's office. She was new to the area and just starting her practice. My daughter was turning 2 at the time and was deathly afraid of needles, shots, and pretty much any place that resembled a medical facility. I had no idea at the time how lucky I was when I blindly choose Dr. Foreman for my daughters first dental appointment and teeth cleaning. To make a long story short, I was amazed by Dr. Foreman's friendly demeanor, caring bedside manner, and patient, motherly touch to which she lovingly provided to the area children and the disabled, without sacrificing her commitment to quality care. Through out the years, Dr. Formans office, staff and practice grew, first going out on her own and and obtaining her first small space in the Grace Hospital office complex and then to her designing and building the the beautiful, rustic, and kid friendly "mountain lodge" we know as Morganton Childrens Dental Center today. During all these years and among all these changes, my family was growing too, I had 3 more children, went through a divorce, moved twice, both times an hour and once an hour an a half away, but one thing remained constant.. I made the commute without a second thought and all of my children remained patients of Dr. Sharon Foreman. It is with great sadness that as of today, I must report my children will never again set foot in Dr. Formans office. That being said, this review is regarding the experience I had with office administrative assistant, Melanie Jo Bivens today, which ultimately has fueled my decision to remove my children from the practice and never return. To make things a little more understandable I first need to explain that with all the growth Dr. Foremans practice had, not all change has been good. Over the past year especially, I have noticed the office has become more disorganized and on at least 4 occasions over the past year, I made the commute to Morganton with my youngest for his appointment only to find out that a. the office was closed with a sign on the door, no one had called to cancel the appointment.(They have my cell phone number and I carry it at all times.) b. my son had dental surgery scheduled at a Morganton dental outpatient center and when we arrived for the surgery we were told the referral and x-rays were never faxed over (I asked for a paper copy and was assured it was taken care of already, that everything was done digitally) Of course, it was Friday and Dr. Foremans office was closed so again, we had to reschedule the surgery.. c. Office staff forgot to call in Anxiety/Pain medication for my son and so after we arrived we were told we had to reschedule the appointment for a later date. Because of this mistake, he could not be seen even though he had a severely abscessed tooth because even if we had picked it up then, he would have to wait an hour for it to take effect. d. The anxiety/pain medication was called in but to to the wrong CVS so we had to drive an hour to go pick it up, even though I explained to office staff on several occasions that we had moved and switched pharmacies. e. my sons last appointment was scheduled for September, and after picking him up early, signing him out from school, we drove to CVS, picked up and administered the medicine, and then drove to Morganton to find the parking lot was empty, the lights were al off and the door was locked. There was no sign on the door. I was confused and a little shocked, then just as I was about to head back to my car, the phone rang and office staff was calling to cancel the appointment, less than 2 minutes before it was scheduled. I was very upset because I had already given my son the medicine and I was told I should not return him to school. I was further advised that they would call me to reschedule his appointment. Sadly, a month went by without any call, things were busy and it slipped my mind until my son started complaining about the pain in his tooth again. At that point, I called and rescheduled the appointment myself. It was this appointment that was scheduled for tomorrow at 830 AM, and that has prompted this review. This afternoon, as I was running around Christmas shopping, it occurred to me that they would want my son to have the pain/anxiety medication again, and so I called the office and left a message, reminding the office staff that if they needed him to have it to be seen tomorrow, that they would need to call it in for him. About an hour later, I rec'd a call, which I assumed was the office staff calling to confirm the appointment and let me know whether he needed the medicine or not. Nothing c
