Don't go to Morgantown Eye Associates if you have insurance!!! They apparently don't know how insurance works or they are just too lazy to bill the insurance. My son Alex went there today for the second time and was told for the second time that they couldn't bill his insurance and that he had to pay that day. Alex being 19 just did what they said and left. I thought after a few days of back and forth with these people last time about the insurance that this was settled. They assured me that it was. Honestly, I should have known they didn't care and it wasn't over when they never provided an itemized bill, so we could submit a claim to the insurance. He had to ask for both itemized bills at today's appointment. They just want their money! Alex said he saw a different doctor today and he didn't even know why was there. They do not disclose all the extra upcharge expenses, and they do not show any prices on frames. The optometrist gets commission on glasses, so they try to pick them out for you and hide the prices until you are about to pay. Do not go here if you like price transparency, I have still not received an itemized receipt and the person in charge of my exam called me and lied about disclosing the extra pricing. Even with good insurance, you will be charged $200-$300 more than your quoted copays and material coverages. Frames are price inflated 200-300% retail pricing. Very Sketchy, avoid like the plague. read more

I went in on a Saturday morning. I thought they were very thorough with my eye exam. As someone who has multiple eye abnormalities they were great at explaining what issues my eyes could have and what to expect as I get older. They also went over my pictures and explained how that relates to my prescription. Everyone was super nice and friendly. When choosing new glasses they were helpful in explaining different lense options and add ons. I have had glasses for my entire life and gone to multiple eye doctors. I appreciated how they explained everything start to finish. Which I did not get at my eye doctor or other ophthalmologists. read more

Morgantown eye associates loves to over charge. The funny part, is that they never can explain what the charges are.... Morgantown Eye Associates will also take your insurance company to the ringer. I called Morgantown Eye Associates to see if they would accept my insurance and if so, make an appointment. They did, and the person I spoke to was very friendly and explained how the insurance worked. She took my basic information, told me what I needed to bring and scheduled my appointment which was was only 2 days later. Dr. Wratchford was very nice, has a good attitude and did a thorough exam that began with a preliminary exam by an assistant. All the staff were very pleasant. Emma, the optician/eyewear specialist, was very helpful in picking out my frames and going over different options for the lenses. I was very pleased with the whole process and I know it was my first appointment with Morgantown Eye Associates but I was totally satisfied and would highly recommend. read more

I had a good experience for my exam, but they completely changed after I paid. They did not keep their promise of a $100 rebate. I called several times to resolve the issue and they politely said they would get a call me back. Again, they did not keep their promise. I would give zero stars but the "staff" is very nice. Dr.Stout however needs to give it up. He does not give a rats ass about his patients. Get them in and get them out. He doesn't listen and when you have questions he doesn't like it. 3 times I went back trying to get my prescription right and the 3rd time he pretty much got irritated and left the room never to come back. He even tried to tell me they didn't make multifocal daily contacts when I had been wearing them for a year! He was all happy go lucky 1st visit even plugging in that he does tear duct blocking. I went there based on all the good reviews I saw. No thank you! I also thought he could help test me for a condition that causes you to get car sick driving. He fluffed me off yet google listed this place as a place that did the test another reason I chose this place. I have heard the other doc there is good but I wouldn't know. I just started as a new patient with Morgantown Eye Associates and already am very happy with their services. The actual office had tons of frames to choose from and all of the staff was very friendly! Dr. Stout was very friendly and took the time to explain to me what exactly was happening with my eyes instead of trying to simplify it. He showed me all of the test results right there, answered all of my questions, and gave me brochures for options I might be interested in for the future as well as proper procedures (ex. proper care of . . .) I had an eye emergency and called Morgantown eye associates because I couldn't see out of my eye. Even though the drs weren't supposed to see patients that day they had me come in immediately. I saw dr Wratchford and she was so nice took the time to explain everything before she did it and made sure I was comfortable. She even called over the weekend to check on me and make sure I didn't need anything. They have been so wonderful to me and made me feel like they care about me and how I am doing. I still have a few more appointments for my eye. The scratch was pretty bad and they are doing everything possible to ensure it heals properly and my eyesight isn't affected for the rest of my life. I highly recommend them to everyone that needs an eye doctor, glasses and they are wonderful with children too. Call them first you won't be sorry I'm not!! read more

Dr. Stout and all of his staff are amazing. He took the time to go over all of my concerns and results from the initial new patient exam. His staff took the extra time to call my insurance company to make sure I got my new glasses covered. They even gave me free samples to help with my allergies. I recommend going here if your really want your Optometrist to listen and find the best solutions for your lifestyle. They also have a large selection of frames to choose from. I was recently diagnosed with diabetes type 2 and scheduled an appointment with Dr. Mancini. I had never been to an optometrist before and I didn't know what to expect. The people at Morgantown Eye Associates were very friendly and knowledgeable. The receptionist helped me fill out all of the forms and explained what was covered by my insurance. The service I received from Dr. Mancini and from the opticians was fantastic! They were incredibly friendly and Dr. Mancini seemed to genuinely care about addressing issues my previous optometrists disregarded. If you have really good insurance that will cover the majority of the visit, I would highly recommend MEA; that said, even with my insurance, it was more expensive than my last 3 eye exams combined, so unless my insurance improves drastically, I will probably have to go elsewhere for my next exam. read more

I came here a year ago expecting a routine check up and left loathing my experience. I never leave reviews, but I am obligated to prevent others from the experiences I was faced. Although, there are several things that I could complain about nothing is more degrading to a patients experience than an incompetent, rude and lying staff. Furthermore, I felt consistently (constantly might be a more appropriate word) pressured to purchase contacts and glasses through the office. I moved away from Morgantown for NYC and it was a miserable experience simply asking for my prescriptions. They continued to insist that I purchase through their office. It was not until I recently acquired new glasses that I realized they never gave me the prescription for my lenses! They only sent my prescription to me after continual pressure! Prescriptions that I purchased!!! The doctors are obviously hardworking individuals; however, the office is so poorly managed its quite humorous. This absence of authority speaks for the doctors and their staff. The women that conduct business at the front desk are mannerless, shrewd women with a serious lack of sophistication. There was only one women at the front desk, a short woman with black hair, that was kind and I deeply appreciate it. read more

This was the worst experience I've ever had in 35 years of wearing glasses. They charged me over $500 for a mediocre pair of glasses and a routine eye exam. They broke my glasses and couldn't fix them. I had to go back several times to order new frames because they couldn't get the same ones that they broke.This required multiple return visits and I wasn't offered any kind of discount. I recently returned for an unrelated problem with my glasses and they had the nerve to charge me $25.00 dollars for being late to my appointment which was an honest mistake on my part. Go ANYWHERE else but here. One final word to the owner of this business. We live in the information age. Your shady business practices will catch up with you via bad reviews such as mine. The number of bad reviews and overall poor rating that you have bears witness to this fact. Addendum: I posted this same review on Google to which the owner replied. He said "I understand you broke a part on your original frame but it could not be replaced as the frame manufacturer had discontinued that style. Frame companies frequently do that without any notice to us. Fortunately, we were able to select a brand new style and had new lenses made for you at no charge." It was his technician that broke the nose piece off of my brand new glasses not me. He thinks that I should be grateful that I wasn't charged to make new lenses due to an error that was entirely his technicians fault?! He also failed to mention anything about swindling me out of $25.00 especially in light of the fact that I had to return their multiple times due to his technician's screw up and never offered any discount whatsoever. This is the most dishonest place I've ever done business with hands down. I hope that anyone reading this review takes my post very seriously and considers going somewhere else. Dr. Owen is friendly and personable but I think I'm done with going there. The prices are crazy high and the pressure the "assistants" apply to push the upgrades on eye glasses is reminiscent of a used car salesman. I had to ask for my written prescription 5 times to 3 seperate staff members before it was given to me. read more

My wife and I were customers of MEA for several years. We ordered a pair of glasses on a Monday at 4 PM and then called back at 6 PM to cancel the order. The MEA Office Manager said she would send an email to the lab to cancel. I called back Tuesday morning and the Office Manager said that the lab was closed Tuesday thru Sunday. I called back on Monday and was told they contacted the lab and it was too late to cancel. I asked for the name of the lab and she gave it to me.. Mistake. I called the lab and they explained that they had the order and had received NO EMAILS OR CALLS from MEA requesting it be canceled. The lab said they were open all day, as normal, that Tuesday MEA told me they were closed. They also said that they had actually just received a duplicate order for those glasses from MEA which they thought was odd. At my request the lab then called MEA to ask if they wanted the order canceled and MEA told them NOT TO CANCEL THE ORDER. The next day the MEA office manager reaffirmed to me that she had done "EVERTHING HUMANLY POSSIBLE" to cancel the order, but it was too late. In short, the office manager and Dr. Stout lied to me repeatedly over an eight day period. The only thing exceptional about MEA is their arrogance and their high prices. We paid for those glasses and MEA lost 2 customers. I've had other billing problems with MEA in the past, but we won't accept dishonesty from an Optometrist Office. read more

Very helpful when they sell you the glasses, not helpful when there is a problem. I have been a customer for five years. They have a hard sell style to get you into the most expensive frames and lenses that your insurance will approve. On 5/7/14 I had a full eye exam and was written two RXs. One for distance, one for reading. Dr. Stout convinced me to get the Lifestyle progressive lenses. My portion was $170 plus whatever they billed the insurance. I just couldn't adapt to the lens style. I returned on 6/3/14 to switch them out for single vision. The optician assured me that I would adjust if I just gave it more time. On August 15th I returned for a third time to get single vision lenses put in. They stated they would contact the doctor and call me when the new lenses came in. September 21. No call, no lenses, left message with optician. 11/13/2014 I visited in person. Just wanted to get single vision. They wanted to do another Dr. visit to update my prescription and then bill the insurance company for a new set of single vision lenses. 12/29 Went in person to notify them that the charge had be flagged as disputed with Visa, and a formal complaint has been filed with Metlife Vision so the insurance company can get its money back too. Very bad business practices here. Go elsewhere. read more

I called to make an appointment at Morgantown Eye Associates and make sure that they accepted my insurance. A receptionist named Kayla reserved an appointment for me and told me she would check on my insurance and call back if there were any issues. A couple days passed and I had not heard back so I called. Kayla assured me that they accepted my insurance. When I got to the office the morning of my appointment, someone working there had written down that I had VSP insurance, which was incorrect. The receptionists then him-hawed around for 15 minutes before they informed me that they didn't take my insurance. Who knows if the doctors at this facility are actually decent or not. I am surprised that they get any patients at all given the lackluster support staff they have. Other reviews of Morgantown Eye Associates suggested that the receptionists don't care and those reviews are correct. Find another eye doctor in Morgantown- there are plenty of options. read more
