Stopped in for lunch right when they opened and grabbed a spot at the sushi bar. Our server was there quickly to take our drink order and take care of us. They brought out complimentary miso soup before our spicy steamed edamame. The edamame was average and the spicy sauce was just squirted on top rather than how most restaurants do it. We ordered 5 signature rolls to share on a large platter. It was fun watching them prepare everything for us. They provided a bunch of sauces on the side which seemed unnecessary. Our server forgot cups for soy sauce which the sushi chef grabbed for us. All of the rolls were pretty good but all tasted similar. The wagyu beef roll was delicious but definitely a unique sushi option. The server kinda stopped coming around after we started eating which made it hard to get refills. This was by far one of the worst experiences I've had at a restaurant in a long time, we didn't get our drink order taken for about 20 minutes then we had to wait about another 20 minutes to get our food order in once we got our food our server never came back to check on us to see if we needed anything we were waiting to check out and had to ask 2 different employees to get our server and we still had to wait almost 30 minutes for her to come check us out, she went to her other tables 4 plus times but we were just forgotten I assume, the restaurant was not even busy for us to have gotten that type of service, the food was good just wish the service was up to par. read more

This place was recommended to us by a colleague as really good Japanese food. The food, service and drinks were top notch. They have a lot of interesting combinations of sushi on their menu. The size of the roll is also larger than your average roll, but hey, I'm not complaining. We sat outdoor on the patio which was very noisy, not only from the music that was played on the patio but also the surrounding. Mori is located at the plaza mall and the patio opens up to the parking lot, so you get a lot of noise from the cars. Next time, definitely will sit indoors. read more

Came here for a late lunch, very promising atmosphere but that was the best part. Food was sub-par, very heavy and not a lot of flavor. The service was among the most disappointing part of our visit. Never came by to ask for refill, what we got on the plate did not match the menu description, zero hospitality, and very long wait time for food even though the restaurant was below moderately busy. Wow. We came here 'cause Yasuke was closed. We just wanted some good food. It was mediocre at best. We had the Wagyu gyoza that had a really off-putting texture. The filling was just tiny balls of ground beef, it seemed like. The funky geisha roll was super average. I didn't even eat it all. The service was pretty bad. I ordered water to drink and the glass was so visibly dirty, I sent it back. It also took forever to get our check after having asked a couple of times. For a restaurant that's supposed to be higher end, it really needs to do better. read more

After Kumori left a taste of disappointment, I was hesitant to try this place but I'm so glad I did. This place was AMAZING. From the service to the food, the whole experience was great. They have a lot of rolls to choose from (and only a few had cheese). The appetizers were great and the ambiance was cool and spacious. We tried as much as our bellies could take and everything was delicious. The only one dish I think could improve was the ramen. Fewer or thicker noodles and a bit of contrast in flavor could have made that dish better, but every roll we had was great! I will definitely return. read more

I've been looking forward to visiting Mori for quite a while and was not disappointed at all. They had really creative and clever cocktails that were absolutely delicious. Speaking of delicious, their oyster appetizer is to die for. One of the best things I've ever eaten. I also really loved their fresh fish. One thing I will say that I was disappointed by is the taste of their salmon roe or Ikura. I don't know what it is about Kumori and Mori but you can tell that it is an altered salmon roe because it taste of a very strong vinegar flavor with no fish flavor at all. Highly disappointing. Beautiful interior and very nice service! We sat near the counter where they brought out all the dishes, so we were close to multiple servers. They always checked up on us and asked if we needed anything, which definitely made our lunch all the more better! The sushi was fresh and they were the perfect size. I always hate it when the sushi is super small and it doesn't seem like you get what you paid for, but this place isn't that! The ramen here is also delicious. The broth isn't too salty and the noodles are cooked perfectly. I highly recommend getting their crab gyoza as an appetizer, I could order multiple plates of that if I could. If you like fresh sashimi and high quality fish. This isn't the place. I gave this restaurant FOUR chances. The first two experience was okay, except the sushi rice was falling apart while you're trying to eat your rolls. At our third visit, they fixed the rice. Food is overpriced for what it is and nothing special. We were excited for Mori to open since there's no restaurant here like it. It is NOT COMPARABLE to Uchi or Kata Robata in Houston. I went with my brother who was visiting from out of town for lunch, and let me just say I am Never going back! I'll stick with Yasuke for my fresh fish and better service. The servers at Mori are ALSO CLUELESS about sushi. Y'all need to train your servers and educate them about japanese cuisine or at least your menu. When I worked at a japanese restaurant the servers were required to have knowledge about the menu bc it will make the restaurant look bad if they don't know the menu when a customer ask a question. I literally had two servers on two occasions at Mori saying they don't eat sushi and don't know much about it. Red flag right there. Anyway, the last time I ate here I had food poisoning. Should've expected that since my Otoro looked old and was fishy! I don't like to complain, but this is just bad. Even my brother was not impressed. The server also informed me that the otoro sashimi was now $15 a piece, and I told her the menu said $15 for 2 pieces. She went to her manager and pointed this out without me asking and said they'll honor the menu price, but she still brought out Nigiri instead of sashimi... Okay no big deal. We asked if they had fresh wasabi, and they did. Yay! But it was just very sad..... they let our inexperienced server grate the skinny stick.... and she was clueless. The manager walked by and said "you're doing a great job." My brother and I were confused.... we didn't want to tell the girl how to do her job, but honey..... that's not how you grate it and your wasabi stalk is.....not looking right. We sent it back, sushi chef came and apologized, even he knew not to serve it. We ordered a few dishes to share and one dish that was subpar was the hamachi app that was suppose to have a ponzu or yuzu sauce, instead it was a soy sauce thing with a TON OF SESAME OIL. It was nauseating trying to finish it, we always finish our fish. Mori needs to work on their fresh fish dishes and quality. read more
