    Dense biscuits

The MS Cafe is now under new ownership. Brad McManus, prior owner of Bam Bam BBQ, is now the new owner. The restaurant reopened on Labor Day weekend for breakfast. I stopped by at 12:30pm today and the place was packed. Service was fast, though. "B" was my server. She took my order right away and also gave me water and coffee. The coffee is free but it's weak. I didn't come by for the coffee, though. I had a full order of B&G and I ate it all! The sausage gravy still has that peppery kick to it. The biscuits were a bit dense but the gravy made up for it. The interior hasn't changed much since Brenda ran this place. Gone are all the 2014 flood photographs of the nearby San Pedro River. The crowd died down by the time I left at 1:15pm, but that gave me some time to chat a bit with Brad, who had been working in the kitchen with a few other employees. He told me he plans to open up Wednesdays and Thursdays and extend the opening hours until 8pm. He will still host local musicians to play on Fridays. He will run his famous BBQ as specials once he's settled into this new place. There is a 3.95% surcharge for credit cards.

I will start with the service. It was good. The ambiance laid back. The food was GREAT! We did have to wait a bit longer than I expected but it was worth the wait! Nice to have a place closer than having to drive into Sierra Vista!

My husband and I went to Morning Star for breakfast and again tonight for dinner. If you haven't eaten there since Brady bought it, you should give it a try. My husband had a breakfast burrito and I had the pancakes. The pancakes were fluffy and tasted good. My husband's burrito was very filling and delicious. Tonight we both had a hamburger and fries. The hamburger is made with brisket and the flavor is to die for. The French fries are hot and crispy. We also ordered the cod basket to go. My mom loved the fish. It wasn't all greasy like a lot of other places. They are open Wed through Sunday for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We like it because we don't have to drive all the way into town to get something to eat. We will be eating there regularly.

We were the first ones in the building when it opened at 7am. Mitzi, manager and our server, made our breakfast a true dining experience. I had Eggs Florentine, my friend had a blueberry pancake, and her hubby had the Copper Kettle. Food was delicious but the coffee was strong and the sausage gravy way too peppery. However, service and ambiance were top notch. The place was lacking the loud tourist crowd this Monday morning. There were only four table during our hour-long visit. Ever. Pricing is deceptive. Be careful on build-your-owns, and just because you are offered a biscuit instead of toast, doesn't mean it is included with your meal (I was charged extra), and a tiny side of gravy is extra too. The thing that was most surprising is the fact that the floors, walls and ceiling are unbelievably filthy. The wall at the end of the bar is visibly fuzzy at quite a distance. And it's a huge wall. The ceilings are black with grease, and on a Saturday morning the floor looked as though it hadn't been cleaned in weeks, if not months. This review applies to the Lowell location. Sounds like they are moving to a new location in Tombstone Canyon. Gone will be the ample free parking. Hopefully they can keep it cleaner. Bottom line? We won't be back.

The streets were packed, and I had shown up without reservations expecting the worst. I somehow waited less than 10 minutes to be seated, and had my drink order taken right away. Like the menu, the alcohol selection is very safe--comprised of a ton of beers and liquors you've probably already heard of. I opted for a local delicacy--Bisbee Blue G&T. While I'd prefer they take their chances on a limited menu of real cocktails, it was nice having something new you don't really run into outside of a small town. Your choices of food are basically Mexican, sandwiches, burgers, and barbecue. I went with the West Texas Millionaire Burger and it was certainly worth it.You can't go wrong with truffle or sweet potato fries, either. Portions are huge--perfect after you spend a day walking around for miles. The atmosphere feels like you're in a diner, and it's not as flashy or artsy as a lot of places. That's fine.
