Great local diner! We went with a large group (10+ people) without warning for breakfast and they handled it wonderfully. They didn't mind us moving tables or having a slow trickle of people over an extended period of time. Coffee, waters, and drinks were brought out promptly and coffee carafes provided. The wait staff also handled everyone's orders and split bills well which I know can get overwhelming. We had a 1 year old with us and they accommodated him better than anywhere else we've been; they had silicone plates, small silverware, and provided fresh fruit for him that wasn't even on the menu read more

The MS Cafe is now under new ownership. Brad McManus, prior owner of Bam Bam BBQ, is now the new owner. The restaurant reopened on Labor Day weekend for breakfast. I stopped by at 12:30pm today and the place was packed. Service was fast, though. "B" was my server. She took my order right away and also gave me water and coffee. The coffee is free but it's weak. I didn't come by for the coffee, though. I had a full order of B&G and I ate it all! The sausage gravy still has that peppery kick to it. The biscuits were a bit dense but the gravy made up for it. The interior hasn't changed much since Brenda ran this place. Gone are all the 2014 flood photographs of the nearby San Pedro River. The crowd died down by the time I left at 1:15pm, but that gave me some time to chat a bit with Brad, who had been working in the kitchen with a few other employees. He told me he plans to open up Wednesdays and Thursdays and extend the opening hours until 8pm. He will still host local musicians to play on Fridays. Morning Star cafe has THE BEST food!!! We especially love the breakfasts but lunch is awesome as well!!! They serve generous, delicious portions. It's a relaxed very casual, warm family atmosphere. My husband and I went to Morning Star for breakfast and again tonight for dinner. If you haven't eaten there since Brady bought it, you should give it a try. My husband had a breakfast burrito and I had the pancakes. The pancakes were fluffy and tasted good. My husband's burrito was very filling and delicious. Tonight we both had a hamburger and fries. The hamburger is made with brisket and the flavor is to die for. The French fries are hot and crispy. We also ordered the cod basket to go. My mom loved the fish. It wasn't all greasy like a lot of other places. They are open Wed through Sunday for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We like it because we don't have to drive all the way into town to get something to eat. We will be eating there regularly. read more

This place is a gem We went on a Saturday morning and as expected they were busy. There was a big group in addition to several family groups. Waited only briefly for a table to be ready. The serve yourself coffee, tea, soda etc bar is brilliant, helps the waitstaff spend their time on the food orders and table service. As a result the wait for our food was less than anticipated for such a busy morning, hot and definitely didn't sit under a heat lamp waiting to be brought to us. The food was excellent. My sausage and cheese omelette was great. Tasty and cooked to perfection. My friend had good old fashioned eggs over easy with bacon, both also cooked perfectly. We both had the hash browns which were awesome, cooked with just a little browning and crisping. We will definitely be back. read more

I had high hopes for this place but alas they were dashed today. I made the 20 mile trek looking forward to the fresh fish & chips. As someone who can't do soybean oil I was thankful Brady bought this place as he has said numerous times he uses beef tallow/ or mixed with corn. Not soy. As I was placing my order for 2 piece fish for $18.95 I doubled checked with the women about not using soy for deep frying. She got Brady's attention & went on to say that no he was delivered 100% soybean oil, in fact 3 large containers of it & that's what they are using right now!! I was at a serious loss for words other than "well the beef tallow mixture is why I came." He walked away not interested I assume since that's when the conversation ended. I said guess you can cancel my order & left. I'm so glad I doubled checked, it could have been disastrous for me had I not. I will be scratching this place off my list as I cant trust it to use soy or tallow. I get the man needs to stay in business & needs to use whatever his supplier delivers him but my health can't chance it, is it tallow today or soy oil. Just a heads up to people who are allergic to SOYBEAN oil. read more

Amazing! Morning Star Cafe is a fabulous place to eat Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. But did you know they also do catering? They made and delivered a wonderful meal to the CQCH Palominas Rural Health Clinic staff for lunch yesterday: Pastas with Red Sauce and Alfredo, Meatballs, Chicken, Salad Bar, and Garlic Bread. Oh, YUM! the food was delicious, hot, and plentiful. It was delivered to our staff lounge on time for our regular lunch hour. What a nice surprise! We all really enjoyed the food! We decided to try this place for breakfast after church services but they stopped serving breakfast at noon. We arrived about 10 minutes after 12. The first thing we noticed on the menu were the prices which were very high compared to Country Kitchen, Denny's and other breakfast restaurants. Since we could not order breakfast we ordered soup and a half sandwich. The soup was chicken n rice which was very thick but the chicken was absent. The soup was bland and the sandwich had far too much mayo. We were there 45 minutes before our order arrived. The women's toilet did not flush. However, the place was clean and the workers were very nice. Given the fact that breakfast ends at noon (which excludes many church goers), the high prices, we have no plans to ever go back. read more

What a find in an unexpected place. A bit of a drive to this rural gem halfway between Sierra Vista and Bisbee but, well worth the drive from Sierra Vista. Food was good, hot and tasty! All the staff were friendly and helpful. Everything was clean even though it is a very old building. They even have live entertainment. Only open 3 days a week so make it your weekend place! We finally got around to going here last weekend after hearing and reading all about it for quite some time. So glad we did! Went for dinner, and there was an excellent Bluegrass band playing, we walked in to a crowded dining room, with not a single table open! The "Hostess"(owner?) walked us over to a table that had one man sitting there eating, and asked him if we could share his table with him. Turns out he was the owner's son, and he graciously agreed, so we sat down and had a nice conversation with him while he ate. We noticed it was a slightly "older" crowd so we fit right in. We ordered some tequila shots and beer, then the ribs on-special that night, and enjoyed the great music, great food, and very friendly help-staff the whole time! The place is a good size, felt and looked clean, very friendly folks, the food was okay not great but okay, a bit expensive for the type of food and the cafe's location. I won't be eating there after 12 again but its worth a shot at breakfast. They have specials like fried fish on Fridays -- try the pollack. I read a lot of great things about this little diner and decided to check it out with a friend this morning. We walk in and were told that drinks were help yourself which isn't a bad thing but the coffee cups were so tiny that I had to walk across the restaurant 3 time to fill it back up. It broke up our conversation and was distracting. I ordered the spinach and tomato omelet with hashbrowns. They didn't have gf toast so I couldn't substitute the bread. My food came out nice and warm but as I was eating the omelet I noticed that there wasn't any cheese. I didn't want to complain so I just asked for some salsa to give it another flavor since the spinach was dry. It made a difference but I was just disappointed that there wasn't any cheese or at least not enough to be noticed and I opened up my omelet all the way to check. The prices are not cheap. I paid $10 for an omelet, hashbrowns and a small coffee. I won't go back especially since I can get a lot more food for that much money in town and don't have to fetch my own drinks, straws and napkins. read more
