You know how when you get a clam chowder and you wish that it was more than runny water and a few bits of imitation clam meat? Well that soup your dreaming of is what you get here, and it's $6. Speaking of $6, this place is, to put it politely, affordable. It's priced locally, and when you go you should just pay double out of the kindness of your heart. It's fantastic.

Two of us had wanted the Shepard's Pie and she told us there wasn't any available yet and just as we were about to order something else she beamed that it had just come up and we could order it, which we did. The other two in our group ordered hamburgers. Our meals were swiftly served and... just wow. WOW! I'm no connoisseur of Shepard's Pie but if there's a better one out there I'll never find it. It was simply stellar. The hamburgers were also incredible. We learned, quickly, Irish food is usually served unseasoned or seasoned very little and it's up to the person eating to season it to their taste. Both the ladies in our group added a little salt to their burgers and fries and said their fresh burgers were awesome. The owner, Ginny, came out and joined our conversation. We learned she was from the states and she told us some about her experiences in Ireland. All in all, it was just a super nice visit and meal. We all wished we could visit again soon. We started with a bottle of Sangiovese while I noshed on some homemade brown soda bread, which was divine with Irish butter. The seafood tagliatelle was delicious and creamy that I savored every bite between the mussels and prawns and squid. The banofee dessert was magical between the biscuit on the bottom topped with bananas and drizzled with caramel and topped with ice cream. Enjoying our meal amidst the glorious setting was equally as memorable, if not more. No pictures can do justice to just how breathtaking it is to enjoy a meal in such a beautiful setting. I found it to have very thoughtful touches like that, the special room & playground equipment - I also heard staff tell a patron that the kids get a toy to keep with their meal. I didn't view the kids menu, tho I heard a parent talking about some options with her child, including fish & every child's favorite fun food "spaghetti"! Adults were not forgotten- there were candles on the table and nicely plated meals and home-style options, with a lovely selection of wine and beet to choose from. The lamb and grilled fish are recommended for entrees--though be warned that Ireland overcooks meat in general for the American palate, so discuss how well you want your lamb and beef done with your server. The lamb casserole (sans noodles, hooray) was exquisite as well. A number of the dishes, like the Hake Au Gratin was a little rich for my palate, but popular at our table. A broad selection of desserts and a wine list with enough options of excellent quality round out the meal. (Go for a soft Albarino or crisp Sancerre to complement your seafood). The goat cheese bon bons were a nice surprise and I loved the brown bread that accompanied the delicious seafood chowder. I had the seafood platter- smoked salmon, shrimp and other fish with salad greens...plus a delightful oyster to top it all off. We had ice cream to finish, but we heard that the sticky toffee pudding is better than our friends had in Scotland.
