Holy COW!!! Linnane's was amazing!! We were craving a nice local and fresh seafood spot on our way back to Dublin. We looked up some things on the map and this came up! We parked our car across from a field of cows and walked in. There were no tables available really, but they accommodated us in a little counter space against a window which worked out fine! Were started with some special blood orange Oysters, which were local Flaggy Shore and SO fresh and tasty. We also did the seafood chowder and garlic crab claws. They use a Brown Crab I believe, which is kind of like a stone crab that we have in Florida, but served hot. DELICIOUS!! Main course was a seafood pasta and grilled Hake. Both amazing. I can't say enough great things about Linnane's! I would come back here in a heart beat. This was some of the freshest seafood I've had in a long time. They literally have the oysters coming in right there! Highly recommend. read more

Absolutely stop here if you can! Make a reservation if you'd like to sit by the water or have a patio seat, but they aren't required. Local oysters and seafood. Among the best in Ireland. Stopped in for lunch and enjoyed half a dozen oysters(the larger of the two usual options) and seafood chowder. The chowder is rich and meaty. More than enough for a meal by itself. Nice little restaurant right on the bay. Super fresh food, and the oysters were great. We actually had the special oysters that were cooked and had beer cheese on them I believe, I had the Irish stew which was great, my husband's steak was a little bit overcooked, but had a good flavor. We stopped in for an early (12:30) Friday lunch and we're able to get a table for two near the windows looking out toward the water. We realized we were quite lucky because the place filled up and was very busy by 1:30. The service staff worked well together and efficiently. We didn't feel rushed. Having lived in Maine for many years I thought about the lobster, but at €72 it was a bit rich. We did, however, share the cold seafood plate, (salmon, small clams, mussels, smoked mackerel, crab, oysters) which was excellent. Everything was very fresh and tastefully presented. We had the meal of our holiday here. A delicious John Dory with butter, chili and other goodness. It was fantastic, we're still talking about it 2 months later. Friendly service, well poured Guinness, delightful setting- oh and decent oysters and mussels too. You may need to book a table. Excellent parking. Amazing location on the riverbank. Clean and in great repair. Friendly, helpful staff. Indoor and outdoor seating. Check the sky for rain. Supper for four. We sat outside. The sunset-river view was spectacular. The waiter brought bread and explained the night's specials. He said "local duck"--I said, "YES!" The bread, salad, and appetizer were good. The duck was phenomenal. It wasn't greasy or charred. The chips were superior. I can't remember the other entrees, but they were all great. read more

In a remote location on Galway Bay, you get to experience fresh local seafood, especially oysters from Flaggy Shore Oyster Company, and a pub atmosphere with friendly efficient staff. Definitely on the expensive side for the value but it's the only game "in New Quay" so enjoy it! read more

We stopped by here for lunch as we were driving. I had read about it ahead and I knew that would be a perfect lunch to my husband - however, we are a challenging group because we have two shellfish allergies, a gluten allergy, and a picky eater. I was a bit worried. Lunch was amazing! Fantastic oysters, other seafood solid as well. We arrived around lunch time to a relatively empty dining room. We ordered a dozen oysters, along with a scallops on risotto dish and a lobster dish. The oysters were among the best I have ever eaten--fresh and plump. The lobster was decent although a bit small, while the scallops were very well prepared, as was the bed of risotto it was sitting on. It's not super cheap, but everything other than the lobster was not terribly expensive, and I highly recommend a stop here for fresh seafood. read more

I would love to be able to give this place a good review, but the chef refused to make me a surf and turf so only herself and the young lad ate, herself had stuffed chicken with a mushroom sauce, which came out in under 5 minutes, which means the chicken was pre cooked, it was very dry and sloppy, served over a bed of mash with loads of parsley sprinkled over it, very eighties. The young lad had chicken goujons and chips, the chips were packet and the goujons really over cooked. The views are fantastic, and there was a fair crowd there, I did feel let down that the chef refused to make me such a simple dish though. read more

We were directed here by a pub owner who said it was the best seafood around. We had to drag one of our group, kicking and screaming, because he had his heart set on Monk's even though we had heard from several reliable sources that Monks had gone downhill. Anyhoo, here we went to Linannes Lobster Bar in New Quay, with it's bright picture windows looking out onto a scenic inlet. We were happy to find the place very busy on this Sunday afternoon, a testament to it's good food. Afterwards, you can take the Flaggy Shore Walk, which starts right out the front door. Favorite Dish: This place is all about seafood. We started with Seafood chowder and a plate of mussels, which really could have been enough for lunch. The chowder was full of chunks of fish and shellfish and was delicious.I proceed to the main course of sauteed scallops while others had the absurd seafood platter that was full of prawns, crab, smoked salmon, and more. Fresh, fresh,fresh! One in our group ordered lobster and the chef was seen, after receipt of the order, walking down to a docked boat, being handed a wiggling lobster whereupon she returned to the kitchen. Beautiful, clean and fresh "pub" and restaurant. I hope i can return one day! read more

This was some of the best seafood we had on our trip to Ireland. The oysters and seafood platter were beyond fresh. The restaurant was modern and clean, but still retained a charming and traditional feel. We sat by the window and watched the tide slowly come in. We ventured here after our triathlon in Lough Cutra Castle and we weren't disappointed ! Fantastic views where we elected to each outside. We had Muscles marinara for our aching muscles, and the fresh clams in wine sauce as starters. I had the vegetarian of the day dish which was a stew that was fantastic. read more

On vacation in Galway and received a tip from a young man in the city that this was a good place to stop on the way back from the Cliffs of Moher. We walked in around 2:30 in the afternoon, sat down, and were completely ignored for 15-20 minutes. The restaurant was clearing out and several employees just walked past us. Everyone in Ireland up until then was very pleasant and accommodating, no matter how busy they were. These people were just rude. I would avoid this place like the plague. read more

As always, great food and good service. I chose something that existed on the menu, the scallops. My wife ("Herself") had the pork wrapped in bacon on mash, which she enjoyed, while my son ("the young lad" aged 7 ) requested the clams with chips which he demolished along with pineapple juice. The Guiness was excellent, the chips (from a packet) were fresh and the last meal out of the school holidays was enjoyed along with the superb quayside view, people fishing, and a busy but relaxed atmosphere.Quality is proven by repeat business. We were lucky to get a table since reservations closed in the early evening. Think I'll try surf and turf next time, but if it isn't on the menu I won't expect the chef to make it especially. read more

The sweetest freshest shrimp that I have eaten in years! While I loved the seafood platter, the best was the shrimp. The brown bread was fresh and delicious. My husbands clams were excellent. I'm only sorry that we shared the apple crumble. I would have liked it all to myself. No complaints about the service either. read more
