I was recently notified what they did to a family member, so I looked things over. I thought this place was great, UNTIL I realized they charged us for things not legal, not purchased, and not disclosed! I called the crematory, medical examiners in 2 different states, and the insurance company. They informed me of the REAL prices, the LAW, and how Dyer-Lake used our money to fund their own interests without disclosing it. It wasn't theirs to use! To this date, they have refunded 4 checks, admitting guilt, returning (dragging it out slowly) almost what they owed us, but not fully. They refuse to refund us for merchandise we never bought. They refuse to itemize the bill. They refuse to tell us what "basic professional services" cover, since we never had a "service", and so many other fees were charged on top of basic...things like transportation, storage, paperwork, drivers, removal of pacemaker, ect. They charged us for 2 medical examiners in 2 different states. One owner said it was the LAW because the person died in one state and was buried in another. The other owner said that was a mistake. BUT they did it twice! 16 months apart! Once, it "might" be a mistake, but twice is how they run their business until you catch them. I could describe each thing, but the checks are proof enough.. BE WARY and do your homework! A smile, a hug, and making you feel like and old friend means nothing when you find out the truth. Its disgusting and deceitful to do this. Its been SIX MONTHS and they still owe us for one more thing.

I had multiple phone calls with them and they were able to assist me even though I was in California. I mostly spoke with Jake and Colton during this process. When I arrived Saturday was the only day I could go down and we had a snowstorm the day prior. Roads were pretty bad and they were able to accommodate me even though they had a service going on. I would strongly discourage anyone from using Boston Cremation…read more Our family has had an incredibly frustrating and distressing experience working with them during one of the most difficult times of our lives. They issued a death certificate listing a cremation date that does not match the actual date of cremation. When we contacted them to have the error corrected, instead of taking responsibility, we were given the runaround. Most recently, we were told that the date on the death certificate represents the date they "started the paperwork" for the cremation rather than the date the cremation actually occurred. We do not believe this explanation is accurate or consistent with Massachusetts requirements, yet they continue to refuse to correct what we believe is an error on an official legal document. As a result, our family has been forced to continue pursuing the matter instead of being able to focus on grieving. Unfortunately, this has not been an isolated issue. Throughout the process, communication was poor, empathy was lacking, and we repeatedly had to advocate for ourselves to receive basic information and proper treatment. The entire experience has caused unnecessary stress and has ultimately required us to seek legal assistance. Families deserve professionalism, compassion, and confidence that important legal documents are being completed accurately. That was not our experience. I sincerely hope no other family has to endure what ours has.

Lola and her team were exceptional with the Chinese details. Our loved one was living in Quincy, but her roots were in Brighton. We appreciate that Lola and Hamel were able to secure the use of a Newton/Brighton funeral home. This venue allowed elderly friends to pay respects locally. Lola and her team had every detail covered. The amenities and services provided to our loved one and our visitors made the experience exceptional at this time of sorrow. Chinese snacks and refreshments were provided for the day. The car service and police detail were excellent. Hamel did their due diligence by driving out to the cemetery and our funeral route in preparation for the day of the funeral. Lola also dealt with the cemetery and the florist on behalf of our family. At the funeral, Lola explained both in Chinese and English for our visitors the particulars of the day. We were extremely pleased with Hamel and would highly recommend them, but especially their Asian services.

This other funeral home we chose did not have any guidance to offer regarding transportation of cremains to China and so we called Hamel Lydon. Though we did not conduct funeral services or cremation through them, they were extremely kind and helpful regarding next steps for our family and even reached out to this other funeral home to help coordinate. This process is never easy but it was a relief to speak with someone who was well versed and willing to help.
