crappy service - and we have given them many chances!! We go to bars for a living and never had service this bad!!

Five stars but with a couple negatives. It is a bar that serves good food. Shared tables slightly uncomfortable and loud. Service was outstanding, steak and bake was a beautiful cut of meat, nice salad, great garlic bread and a loaded baked potato. Steak has a pepper rub which I didn't care for but found you can get without if asked for. No longer ten dollars now $13.99 it still was great and we will be back. On Wednesday steak night really full parking lot but find a spot across the street you can find a place to sit if you ask to share a table. Every day there seems to be both a great food and drink special. read more

Food was ok but service was really slow!!! Said they were busy- but there were a lot of empty tables. Will not return.

I'll be honest most of the bartenders are great! There's one bartender there that doesn't give a hoot don't know what her name is. Pool tables are a sham. Felt is ripping on all parts. There's a good inch of felt missing from the rail to the rest of the table (both tables that is)Have brought this up to the bar but the girl said "that's not our problem we don't own the tables" haven't been there in quite some time now. It's a shame cause I used to love the place. I'm a pool player and they would get so much more business from me if they fixed it but now I'm willing to drive up north to Legacy or Snoops (I live in the South Hill) which is quite a drive for me rather than go to the closer place that is Morty's. That's not the only complaint I have. One time I ordered the jalapeño poppers and they were not what I expected. So I sent them back and all they had to say was "oh you don't know good jalapeño poppers". So that's why they get one star. read more

Was in here for the first time. Thought we'd try a new place. Place wasn't busy since it was Saturday afternoon. Boyfriend ordered the chili cheese dog with fries and I had the hot wings with the extra hot sauce. Chili cheese dog was bland with a tomato-y taste and fries were limp. My hot wings were bland and not spicy. It was awful. The carrots and ranch dip was good. Won't be returning. read more

Finally! I found a breakfast spot on the South Hill worthy of my very reasonable standards of properly prepared food, and good service. I am SO tired of the SH restaurants who simply do not give a damn wether your food is served with pride or not. And you know who you are in Lincoln Heights.... who consistently throw crap food at their customers, we customers who keep trying over and over to allow you another chance to earn their loyalty! No More! Morty's whipped up a super breakfast for my grandson and I. The place was clean and friendly...they actually seemed to want our buisness! The spuds and eggs were great, cooked to perfection. And the sausage patties were excellant and FRESHLY COOKED! Not retrieved from the back 40 burner like some other place in Lincoln Heights. Each to his own. From now on, I will frequent plain old Morty's, metal machine shop decor and all. Nature abhors a vacumm, and inevatably, someone emerges to serve good pup food with pride and attention to details, where the regions long time operators have stopped caring. read more

Always friendly service, usually fast, too. They keep the place pretty clean, which is a big deal to me. The beer selection isn't huge, but there's always at least a couple good ones on tap and the prices are reasonable. The food is nothing special, but it's reliably decent and prices aren't bad. Daily food and drink specials means there's usually a good deal. Overall I'd say Morty's is the best bar on South Hill. Great service and specials; I hardly go anywhere else on South Hill. read more

My friends and I love Morty's! We come here for games and especially for a no kids breakfast - pretty often. That is until this cold snap hit. I'll drive for good food and good service, but My Goodness - they keep the temp at about 60 degrees in here. Are you kidding? When it is single digits out side, we need warmer than that. Keeping my coat and gloves on inside is not what I had in mind. It also makes the food cold really fast. When wee asked, we were told by the servers (who also had coats on) that they cannot get into the thermostat. Mr. Morty's you need to fix this. read more

I love this place....in the warm months! It's 60 degrees in here (while it's 6 degrees outside). Apparently none of the staff is allowed to/knows how to adjust the thermostat. We ate our breakfast with our coats and gloves on!! read more

One of my favorite places to eat. Five stars for what it is: a neighborhood bar with good beer, food, and friendly faces. If you are looking for a fancy meal in a quiet setting, it's not for you. I would give a zero!! Usually a great place, but the male bartender with the dark hair and beard was the most immature and unprofessional individual I have ever experienced. My good friend requested a drink shortly after last call. The bartender barked at him saying how he isn't his babysitter and that he wasn't going to give him a drink. My good friend was not intoxicated, nor did he appear to be. He wasn't demanding a drink either. AFTER all of this, a man who was part of our group in playing pool went and ordered shots and beers. He was served pleasantly by this male bartender. Both my good friend and this man from our group approached this bartender identically. They both calmly and happily ordered their drinks. The only difference is my good friend is Saudi Arabian and our friend from the group is White. The way the bartender varied in treating both of them is unacceptable. This matter obviously upset my good friend. He went to the bar to speak to the manager and ask for the owner's phone number. The male bartender hopped over from the register and started yelling at my good friend saying, "I am a manager and we don't give out phone numbers. You got a problem, you can come back in the morning". As my good friend calmly continued to ask the lady bartender for the phone number, the male bartender started screaming, "Just get the fuck out". My good friend said he was then going to speak to the owners and the male bartender blew it off by saying, "well good luck, I know the owners so it won't matter". I understand that it was after last call and that bartenders have many tasks they need to complete before their shift can end. This, however, does not excuse how this bartender handled my good friend. He could have simply told my good friend and the man from our group that last call was made and he was no longer serving alcohol. Instead, the male bartender chose a route that upset many individuals, including myself. I will not be returning, nor will many of my friends. It's very unfortunate how one employee can make a great place so rotten. read more

Have eaten / drank here quite often, not to the point of being a "regular", but quite often. Recently had a bad experience with the "Daily Meal Specials", specifically the Prime Rib. Was listed on the board @ $10.95 Friday and Saturday, but when we got the bill it came in @ $14.95 ea. Asked waiter to explain, he stated the price of beef went up, tough luck ! Then he took down the Specials board ! Be nice to know what the price is BEFORE ordering, especially for the shoe leather you call Prime Rib. Fool me once.......... read more

The service I was provided was unfriendly. A group of girls and i just got there and was talking about alaska and the fish she is familiar with. Right after we ordered our drinks. For no reason they said they couldn't serve us.i am a nursing student, I told them that and we were not wasted and I was really pissed they decided my friend who I have not seen all summer couldn't not stay there because they were missing the points. We were told by a new guys that he has no idea why the guy training him was cuting us off. (Fuck you if your reading this) The man training the guy on the night of the 12rh should have a talking too because I was very sobar and we had no reason to be cut off. Food was awful, service was terrible, and our bartender was extremely rude. I will definitely not be back.

I've been to mortys a few times now and been ok watching their average tvs for football. Some waitresses are great and a couple not so much. However, today I went and it was the worst experience I've had at a restaurant in years. We waited an hour and a half to get our food and watched a couple who arrived a half hour later eat and get their bill prior to receiving our food. Oh this was after they screwed up our drinks order. When the food finally came out, it was horrible. One of our burgers was well done and cold when we asked for medium rare. Another order of simple chicken wings were dried out and only came with six wings in the supposedly full pound of wings. The waitress never acknowledged the extremely long delay or offer any way of correcting the terrible meal we had (even after acknowledging how bad the wings looked). Needless to say we left immediately and went to the very nice sports bar next door. We will not be returning. read more

I've visited Morty's for over the last 7 years or so because it's really close to my home and I've never had a bad experience until tonight. A girlfriend and I were at the gym and decided we worked so hard we deserved an award so we turned the corner and entered Morty's not even realizing it was Friday night. After being passed by multiple times I called out to a bartender that I've had pleasant conversations with prior and was only met this time with a rude response. We shrugged this off as just being busy and shortly after we found a corner table to sit in because we just wanted to get out of the way. We then decided we wanted cheese sticks (which are AMAZING by the way) after unsuccessfully trying to wave down a girl that was slamming chairs as she went by I went to the bar to order. At the bar I was met by a sweet friendly blonde lady, Kayla, who gladly helped me. Towards the end of the night we we're waiting to close out tabs when we were met with another rude remark which I just replied "I'm just trying to close my tab". The straw that broke the camels back was when I over heard the lady that was slamming chairs talking to another patron about "how people want their drinks they better get out of her way" etc.... Like she's a queen. My party and I were completely turned off by this as well as the whole experience and now I'm sad to say I will never go back if I have the choice. Which is unfortunate because I always have an amazing experience with Andy and had a great experience with Joe prior to tonight but this lady whoever she is in her short shorts completely left a bad taste in my mouth. I will not return and risk the fact I will have another unpleasant experience with this representative of your brand. read more
