Looked up sandwich shop and Mo's Deli came up. Called in my sandwich order as I had limited time before work. Order was promptly prepared for me to pick up with my tuna sandwich nicely proportioned. Yesssss!!! My partner wanted a sandwich shop for lunch today so I was thinking this is the perfect opportunity to try out Mo's as I've seen them a few times pop up across socials and door dash. There was quite the line when we arrived (starting out the door), but they were quick with taking orders! I took this as a great sign. My partner got the Reuben and I got the Smokin' Mo Sandwich which is brisket, cheese and bbq. Finally some good brisket in town!! It was so good and tender. I was very happy with my order. It comes with a pickle which was nice and garlicky mmm mmm! Chips and slaw are optional sides, but I didn't partake. I also got latkes as I haven't had them since I was a child. They were good. They come with the traditional applesauce and sour cream. I found the portions generous - I came home with half a sandwich and 2 latkes to eat for dinner. The place is clean and has plenty of seats. They do breakfast all day. They also have Dr Browns soda from NY available by the can or case. The pickles can be bought too and all of their meats by the pound. We plan on coming to get some of the by the pound meats at another time. Staff was very friendly and helpful with answering any questions we had. Will definitely be back. read more

This place is down the road from my neighborhood but it's never on my radar. This is a good place to get a deli sandwich for things you can't find too too often, like a good Rueben, pastrami, roast beef. I got the Deli cold cut: Pastrami, Salami & Corned Beef, Slice of Cheese, Lettuce, Tomato, Mayonnaise on Choice of Bread. I got sourdough, it was not very fresh or soft which was disappointing. Getting a cold sandwich, or any sandwich, on which you are paying $$ for better be good house made bread. Otherwise it was good. Pickles are not included, they are extra. $1.50. I'd rather go elsewhere for a sandwich. It's nice they have Jewish dishes like latkas, but can't attest to how those taste. read more

Where has this place been on my radar? Being a sandwich fan, I have tried most Anchorage shops, but failed to hit MO's. My mistake! Queried YELP for a Pastrami Sandwich and up pops MO's deli. I thought, ok give them a try. I will definitely be back to this establishment. I'm a Pastrami and Reuben fan and theirs are great. Sandwich comes with large dill pickle. I finally went and tried out this deli instead of subway and I'm glad I did! The gentleman at the counter helped me pick out something to eat. Ordered the Rachel online. Picked it up and realized it had been heated. Told its a specialty sandwich and comes hot - may say that on the paper menu but didn't see that on website or grubhub menu. Would have been nice to know before I ordered and drove from a downtown hotel. TBH not sure cold would have been much better - corned beef OK, bread stale and the extra Russian I asked for was pretty much MIA. In my opinion, good bread makes a sandwich. Ordered a cold turkey on sourdough. Sourdough was dry like the bag was left open all day. Sourdough also seemed to be big chain store bought. For a $15 simple turkey sandwich, it better spot on. Unfortunately it wasn't even close. read more

We were headed out to watch an ultimate frisbee tournament and stopped by Mo's Deli for some takeout sandwiches. Friendly atmosphere with personalized service from seasoned staff. It was fun just watching the teamwork between Jason the owner, Bill the creator, and the rest of the crew. You could tell they cater to large numbers, so our order was a snap. I'm thankful for Mo's, being an East Coast girl I'm glad to have a deli like this in Anchorage. A taste of home, if you will. I've ordered from them many times but never stopped inside so I won't speak to that. I will say try the corned beef sandwich with mustard and mayonnaise and their Mac salad. Yum! Delish Sandwiches!!! I had the Tuna (Friday Special) and my friend had the roast beef. The tuna was really yummy, highly recommend. I tried my friend's sandwich and it was super tasty too! I'm excited I found this place. The service was excellent and everything was made to order. The location had easy parking, the ambiance of the place was that of a typical sandwich shop. Welp, Anchorage has a legit Jewish deli now, we're comin' up in the world! I ordered a pastrami Reuben, chicken noodle soup, and a coffee. Coffee was self-serve, which is my favorite way to do coffee. The rueben was probably one of the best Ruebens I've ever had. Meat was very flavorful with just the right amount of salty bite! My only criticism is that it took a long time to come up, but they apologized and gave me a coupon, so no worries! read more

In a hurry and happened by this sandwich shop. When I entered the shop in price a good sized spot that was empty on a Saturday afternoon. I ordered the tuna salad Sandwich which came with lightly toasted sourdough (I think) with lettuce and tomato. Much to my disappointment the sandwich left much to be desired. The tuna itself was bland and without and taste, the lettuce was a little wilted and browning. About the way part of the sandwich was the bread. The staff was courteous and the restaurant was clean. I really want to try this place, I live across town and I work until 4:30 everyday. Drove across town to visit for the first time and was going to pick up a dozen latkes or blintzes to surprise a friend for Hanukkah who hasn't been able to celebrate at all this year due to work travel. They closed at 1430 due to the snow :( I understand this weather is terrible! But I think this business generally doesn't have great hours considering hardworkin folks who don't have the flexibility in their positions to visit a business as amazing as this one seems in the far corner of the city. They should be open about one hour after the end of the average workday (~5pm/6pm) so they can catch the crowd that are tied to their desks all day! No idea how the food is, but I hope I can try it :) I'm going to try and struggle through making latkes for the first time tonight excited to learn! Thank goodness for Mo's & Yelp delivery! I'm sitting at home, out of my mind with a cold, no friends or family in town at the moment, and craving a big serving of chicken noodle soup. After reading that Mo's has matzo balls in their soup & that they participate in Yelp delivery, I was sold! Ordered the soup & potato pancakes, and they hit that comfort food craving. The soup was good but a little bland, but that may have to do with me having a cold. Nothing a little salt & pepper couldn't cure! I wasn't a huge fan of the texture of the noodles, but it wasn't something that couldn't be overlooked. The latkes had a good balance of cheesy & potato-y, especially when layered with sour cream. I ate the applesauce as a mini dessert, it was a great palate cleanser & throat soother. Delivery took about 45 minutes and it was super easy to pay & tip through the app. read more

I must have eaten here on a bad day. I have no idea how the ratings are so high. It's extremely disheartening to spend what I spent on my family's meal only to find out the Mac salad we ordered was spoiled, one of the cookies was wrong, the other cookie was frozen solid, and both sandwiches were soggy and taste like normal lunch meat. A person in my family recently had surgery. I've had to stay home and nurse them. In the thick of it all I find myself being too exhausted to cook and figured I treat my family to a movie night in with some take away. I ordered this on doordash and had it delivered. After seeing all the reviews I was really excited to try this place out. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed in the food. I ordered a pastrami Rachel, a turkey pastrami, an oatmeal raisin cookie, a black and white cookie and a side of Mac salad. When opening my husbands sandwich the turkey pastrami I noticed all the bread was fairly soggy and plastered to the meat. I wasn't disappointed with the soggy bread because of the amount of meat. He got the original size which is what you'd expect from a east coast deli sandwich. The price is steep, but the flavor is extremely underwhelming and reminiscent of straight up lunch meat you get a Fred Meyer. There's much left to be desired. The Rachel was even more soggy than the turkey and at one point I couldn't tell if I was eating bread or meat. I got the regular size and there's more cole slaw than there is meat on this sandwich. The Mac salad came out of the bag and I let the kids take a few bites while I was grabbing plates and drinks for everyone. After a few bites they brought it back saying it tasted and smelled funny. I smelled it and sure enough, it smelled rotten. I took a bite and couldn't even swallow it. It smelled like a sweaty locker room and tasted worse. After the faux meal no one finished, we ventured in the bag for our cookies only to find the oatmeal raisin cookie was not there. It turned out to be a peanut butter cookie. (There's $200 epipen gone) the black and white cookie was frozen solid. There literally was NOTHING good about this meal. I'll never get my money back and I'm fairly positive I won't return. This isn't a Katz deli but that's a good think because Katz is closed now I am told! This is Mo's! It has a New York deli feel but subtract the huge lines. We had 2 sandwiches and a breakfast sandwiches. All three tasted like they fell from heaven. I could live here and die fat and happy! They have the traditional sandwiches and a few creative creations. Prices - honestly this is always a hard thing to judge in Alaska because yes we do pay more to ship EVERYTHING here. The prices I feel are fair for the amazing quality you get. It's not a sandwich that's stacked 6inch high with meat but the meat you get taste amazing! Quality over quantity! I came down here for lunch earlier today after hearing the positive reviews from other Yelpers and the Daily News about how good the food was as well as the prospect of visiting the first Jewish deli in Anchorage. Mo's Deli is a new business that opened early last month and occupies the former Quizno's space in a strip mall at the corner of Lake Otis and Abbott. The dining area is relatively the same setup like the previous business but with new tables and walls minus the Quizno's colors and logos. The gentleman behind the counter who I'm guessing is the owner gave us a friendly greeting and showed us how to order off the menu and even guided us through a number of steps on picking the ingredients and sides. I decided to go with a Reuben Sandwich (pastrami, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, and Russian dressing on dark rye) and a side of Chicken Noodle Soup with Matzo Balls (a common and delicious offering in Jewish delis). The wait was only a few minutes with a couple of diners who ordered ahead of us. The Reuben was awesome with perfectly sliced pastrami served hot with lots of melted Swiss. The Russian dressing added more flavor to complement the toasted dark rye. The Matzo Ball Chicken Noodle Soup was not bad. The shredded chicken went great with the matzo balls, but I wish the soup itself had a little more flavor. However, the sandwich was more than enough to enjoy the meal and I will definitely try out their other offerings. Some of the other traditional Jewish items on the menu worth trying are the Potato Knish ( I used to get these all the time at the hot dog stands when I lived in New York City back in the late 90's), Potato Latkes (pancakes with sour cream and apple sauce....that will be next in a future visit), Cheese Blintzes with jelly, and the Beef Brisket or Corned Beef Sandwich with a choice of bagel, dark rye, challah, or an onion roll (the only thing missing here is the E Train going through 57th Ave and Lexington stations on the way to Queens). There are also loyalty points that you can acquire by text message for special deals after a certain number of visits. This is definitely a welcome addition to the South Anchorage area in a town predominant with fast-food franchises and casual eatery chains. read more

A Jewish Deli? In Alaska? This has gotta be a joke. Luckily it wasn't and it was an incredible meal. I'm a weird Jewish deli fan because I don't eat meat. Still I had a fantastic meal. I got a knish and latkas as a meal. They were both mini which was the perfect size. Often both of these dishes are too big but by having half sizes the food was filling but not overwhelming. One little touch I liked was that they gave you containers with mustard (knish) and the sour cream and apple sauce (Latkas). It's hard to explain why the food was so good, it just tasted right. Mo's is a new-ish deli in South Anchorage located in an old Quiznos location. On my first trip there I got a hot pastrami sandwich on rye bread with deli mustard and American cheese. The sandwich was around $13 and then I added chips and a drink for about $3 more. Including tip my total was just over $20. The pastrami was perfect. One of the better pastrami sandwiches I've had. A lot of meat piled on the sandwich, which is how you want a hot pastrami. The people behind the counter were great and helpful, and the food came out quick. The only knock I would give them would be on price. More than $20 for a deli sandwich, bagged chips, and a fountain drink felt high. That being said, when I want a pastrami sandwich, this is where I will come in Anchorage! They do have two sizes of sandwiches, regular and original. The original was what I got, and was $3.75 more than the regular. Next time I go I will probably try the regular to see how it compares to the bigger sandwich. read more

Opened June 10th and we came on the 24th, when Mo's was still, as the proprietor said, working out the kinks. Still! This is the first Jewish deli Anchorage has ever had, and they seemed to me to be on track to success. I read an article about Mo's in Nosher and knew I had to go. I ordered a classic bagel with cream cheese and lox; my companions ordered tuna on rye, chopped salmon salad and challah, and egg salad on a bagel. The salmon salad was fantastic (just the right amount of dill and onion) and the lox was also excellent. The bagels themselves were mediocre (though I'll admit I'm a bit of a bagel snob)--a little too breadlike. And Dr. Brown's root beer. Having read about Mo's in Nosher, I was envisioning an exposed brick, Ashkenazi hipster, bougie sort of aesthetic. It's not that at all. It's a very corporate vibe, like a Subway. Still, the lack of personality in the interior design is more than made up by the amiable proprietor and staff. Strong menu, including chopped liver and pickled tongue. No whitefish, though again, Mo's only opened two weeks ago. Wheelchair accessible. Gendered bathrooms. Definitely not kosher, but no tref meats. read more

This place is the best deli in town it's unbelievably delicious and I love it...... the only thing that I have to say though is that it's expensive I mean SPENDY!! I realize it's 2020 and we are in Alaska but it costs $10.75 for a chicken salad sammich on an onion roll with a slice of American cheese, that's not with a soda, not with a bag of chips and not with a pickle.. there's a reason they're on south side and not Mountain View or Fairview. And I have to say, as busy as they are the manager John keeps his cool despite "crisis mode" callers like myself when there are issues with some of the Delivery Services. This is a Serious Plus. The food - is great. We've had a variety of Sandwiches, Sides and nothing has disappointed. The Pastrami has us coming back time and time again for that taste of the "east coast" that I learned to appreciate when spending time there with the family. I would say this place is definitely spendy. Came here to treat a friend to lunch. She was familiar with the place and knew exactly what to order. When she was finished I asked the cashier to "give me the same thing" my total was over $35 so I didn't realize he hadn't listened. Normally I really like this place. However, they currently have a staff issue. Came here on Saturday night and one of the workers was in the bathroom for at least 20 minutes. When another customer busted open the bathroom door he was laying on the floor of the bathroom on his phone. He finally came out and began working. Then was very disrespectful to the customers in the restaurant. Gross and uncool behavior. The other woman working was busting her ass the whole time. Wife bought me a gift certificate at Mo's Deli for Christmas. But I eat sandwiches everyday for lunch at work so the last place I want to eat at is a sandwich shop/ deli. Yesterday my tastebuds were blown away. I'm recovering from surgery and my parents came into town to have lunch with me. Well at their age they have a routine and the routine is a sandwich at lunch. So I recommended Mo's Deli since it was close and almost an hour later than when they eat lunch. Remember routine. Went in about 12:30 Wednesday as the busy is in a strip mall we had to park at the business next door and walk. Sidewalk as clean and parking lot was clean for early spring in Alaska I ordered first since I reviewed the menu online and I wanted to sit down at one of only two tables left and rest my leg. I ordered a full smoked brisket, philly style (they grill onions, peppers toast the bun and add cheese) and a water. Dad had pastrami on rye and a dr. Pepper, mom had a turkey breast sandwich, wife had half a pastrami on rye and a cup of beef barley. There was steady traffic till one for people grabbing lunches to go. Our lunch came out quickly, I'd say within five minutes. My first bite of the smoked brisket philly was mesmerizing. You could smell and taste the smoke but your head wasn't in a campfire. My sandwich had lots of thin sliced brisket and was super moist. Normally I'd share a bite with the wife. Not this time I offered a small slice of the brisket and in turn she offered a single spoon of her beef barley soup. Dad went into the twilight zone as he demolished his pastrami. We all enjoyed our sandwiches and the wife made several comments that the soup was homemade and delicious. So here is where the review takes a turn. My mother's memory isn't so good, so asking her how her sandwich was will usually receive a blank stare as she won't remember eating even 15 minutes later. It's sad but it's our reality. We start driving home along Lake Otis and mom tells us how much she enjoyed her turkey sandwich. Going into some details about the turkey and bread. Sorry but for someone that has Alzheimer's for over six years and doesn't know that I'm her son. Your sandwich's made quite an impression on all of us. But to get my mother to talk about food she ate 30 minutes ago is a great memory that I'll cherish for a long time. Parents normally eat half their sandwich and have the other half for dinner.
