Very good Southeast Asian grocery with a great selection of frozen fish, frozen prepared Southeast Asian foods, produce, and Southeast Asian rice. A little less choice in Far East Asian ingredients, and little to nothing of interest to South Asian cooks. The assumption might be that anyone shopping here is feeding a clan because it's hard to get only enough vegetables for two humans, but the prices for fresh produce are so good a little waste doesn't bother me too much (especially since I compost). If you are single and not Asian, and think you're okay with American supermarket instant ramen, you need to rethink cheap eats and try some instant noodle soup from here. A few coins more will get you much tastier instant noodle soups, especially the ones without good English translation on the packages. Add some of the fresh vegetables and tofu or bean sprouts you get here and you can make a cheap meal nutritious and well balances. I guess technically bean sprouts are vegetables but noodle soups require more than two added ingredients I think. read more

Mo's food market is my go to place for Asian groceries in Milwaukee! It's super close to my apartment and it has all the basics I need. Their pork belly and chicken are a great deal and I love trying their new products in their frozen section (they always have the coolest ice cream)! They don't have a ton of fresh produce, but their cabbage and bok choy are such a great deal for a huge bag! They also have a pretty big snack and drink section as well! read more

I remember coming here some years ago and thinking: clean, but very sparse. At the time, it had felt barren and the produce didn't seem very fresh. Plus there was no other cars/customers, so I felt it just lacked the traffic needed to thrive. Fast forward a few years, Covid, and not driving to work and stopping by other shops on the way home... so I'm looking for Asian groceries closer to home. Over the years, the cleanliness of Mo's must have gotten word of mouth, cuz it had filled up! Both with products and with customers. Despite the live fish in the back, the store doesn't have a queer smell. Everything is very well organized, though if you aren't Chinese, it may take a while to browse through and find what you need. (I'm not and it took me a while to take it all in). There's a section wholly dedicated to hot pots. Fresh grocery section is small and in the back of the store, but fresh. I didn't find a single item rotting or old. It feels less crowded than some of the other Asian stores, is clean, and plays some good Chinese tunes. While the owner/worker at the counter isn't especially inviting or friendly (or smiling or saying hello), they're efficient. A smile would have made this shopping experience stellar, but as is, it was a great one. read more

Mo's Food Market is a great Asian grocery store! It reminds me of Asian food markets in the DC area. This is a mom-and-pop kind of place so it's not on the scale of H-Mart but you'd most likely be able to find what you're looking for here. Good variety of frozen items, snacks, noodles, teas, spices/sauces and beverages . They have some fresh meat and produce as well. Make sure not to miss a side area with tons of cooking utilities, pots, pans, tea accessories, cups, etc. Things are reasonably priced, well-stocked, and organized. I would never visit this place again. I went with my sister here today and she wanted to by soju (alcohol) and my sister was ready with her Id and I was just waiting for check out to be done. Then this cashier went to find a manager or an adult. Then someone came by and she then asked for both of our ids an I was like why I'm not buying the alcohol my sister is and plus she is over 21 (she is 25) and I'm not I'm only 19. She then said no it's a "STATE LAW" to check all ID. Now being a law student, I said no mam it's only a person who is buying the alcohol who gets their id check. NOT STATE LAW. And she started argue with me it's a state law and said since I'm not 21 she can't sell alcohol to my sister. I was like whattt??? I don't even think she was manager and nor does she know state law. State Law states that person who is purchasing gets their ID check and not others. Though it can be store policy NOT A STATE LAW. If it was a store policy then they should put a sign by alcohol stating that. Also technically in WI, you can consume alcohol under 21 with a parental, guardian, or a legal adult consent. Eventhough I never consumed alcohol in public without my parents or family who are all over the age of 21.. I don't even think the lady knew the law on alcohol purchase and just follow whoever told her. I was so close to pull up in my phone and show to her. Mo's is such a great market. It's sort of a hidden gem, but once you've been there, you'll keep going back. The store is super organized and has a lot of good stuff. The best part is the prices. The prices are low but the quality is good. You can find a lot of great stuff here that you would not be able to find elsewhere. Great Chinese grocery that's incredibly close to Marquette University. Equally as excellent in quality as their sister store Mei Hua. I appreciate the parking, and overall have no worries, but it does lose points when I compare to other experiences. It is clean and has wider aisles (which is much appreciated during COVID season). It's relatively dead even with customers in the store. There are some frozen foods out that are questionable (edible, but ideally not to be stored the way they are), and it's a bit more difficult to find what you need without having familiarized yourself previously. My main complaint is that there are prices on products that are wayyy to expensive. For example, imitation crab was almost twice the price as all the asian stores I've went to around here. Fishmonger is very detailed and good at cleaning up the fish but takes a bit longer then preferred. I'd recommend this place no doubt, but it'd be good to note to be mindful of both expiration dates and costs. (To be fair, always be conscientious of larger international markets) read more

Mo's is great! Such a wide variety of items. They have things you just can't find in any other grocery store in MKE. Tapicoa pearls, mushrooms, snacks in every flavor, rare fruits, and asian cuisine staples that aren't found at Pick n save (azuki beans, coconut cream, etc). Avenues West is kind of barren when it comes to grocery stores, so it is so nice to have Mo's to go to for fresh fruit, vegetables, and spices. Support local businesses! I'm happy I found this place. I cook a lot of Asian dishes and I was able to find my usual staple items here as well as some hard to find items too. I was impressed with the prices. I was able to find tofu that ranged from .95 cents up to 1.75. Go anywhere else for tofu and you will end up paying more. The store was large, well organized and most importantly clean. I don't have many favorite Asian markets but this one is 1 of my top three that I like to patronize. read more

Decent sized Asian food market. Has a private parking lot with plenty of parking. Well organized. Clean. Didn't smell like nasty fish (aka pacific produce). Great selection of items. Prices were very reasonable. I got two large rice wine vinegar bottles for $7. At grocery store, small bottle is almost $4. Tofu very reasonable. Good prices, great selection, have most popular stuff there unlike other Asian markets in the Milwaukee area which is nice. Pretty clean store. I got everything in the picture for 33$. The only negative is the Napa cabbage I bought was very dirty with sand like substance and had a bug on it. I'm not sure what the standards are, however just be wary and thoroughly wash the produce when you get home. read more

Make sure to check food labels at this store! They sell expired products. I was there yesterday to pick up some last minute tailgate items and made the mistake of purchasing American cheese and sriracha mayo without checking the expiration dates. The sell by date for the cheese was October 30, 2018! The best by date on the sriracha mayo was May 16, 2019. read more

Well I finally made a stop to this new market. The size of the place is impressive. I went on a Saturday. Frozen and imported spices and canned goods were plentiful. However I was expecting more from the fresh produce dept. It was really lacking there. I was looking for fresh lychee. They had some that were well picked over and small. I didn't even bother getting any. Now to the fish dept. Only a few blue crabs and again picked over, most were dead. I went with 2 live Dungeness crab from the tank. They were much better. The lobsters looked nice and healthy so I'll plan to pick 2 up next time. If they work on those few depts I think they got a shot. They have lots of other stuff there too, lots of noodles and ramen. Beats going all the way to Chicago....but if you want it fresh and good nothing beats making the trip to Chinatown Chicago!!! read more

My experience at Mo's surpassed my expectations. The store is clean, brightly lit and spacious. The prices are good and the amount of things they stock is impressive. Their inventory bigger than any other Asian market I have been to in Milwaukee - everything from fresh fish and produce to a huge assortment of frozen items, staples and housewares. An extensive selection of items from many Asian cuisines at good prices. There's also a nice variety of inexpensive cookware and home items. As others have mentioned, I'm impressed with the pricing of the tofu--it's much cheaper than what you'd be able to find at any chain supermarket or grocery store. They also have live seafood and a wide array of frozen dumplings! They have fresh rice noodles too. The selection of Asian produce is pretty good, though of course it's not quite at the level of a large, high-turnover supermarket like Cermak. That said, it's got the best selection of produce on the Near West Side, where there aren't really any good fresh grocery stores (other than the overpriced Sendik's on Marquette's campus). It's great for anyone who lives in the area and doesn't have a car--it's within walking distance of the Marquette campus and surrounding neighborhood. read more

If you're looking for authentic Asian ingredients for your Asian food fusion foods or anything else that requires something from the far east, look no further. Inside of an actual food desert in this area, Mo's is a hidden surprise. Sure, if you're coming here looking for just a normal ingredients for your normal days ends and outs, this may not be the place for you. However if your normal ins and outs are Asian cuisine, here you are. Now for the western cuisine, some ingredients seem unusual,but that just lets you know how culturally significant this place is to this area. Among a large Asian population in the downtown area you need a place like like this to make certain that everyone can get all the things that they need to create their cultural foods.
