I have found the staff at Mo's to be knowledgeable and helpful. If you don't know a lot about wine they will make recommendations, whether based on price or pairings. If you do know about wine, the selection is varied, interesting and ever-changing. The beer section is fully stocked with domestic favorites and many interesting imported choices. The prices are good, maybe not the state minimum, but certainly competitive. Mo's is the closest beer purveyor to Fairfield University. I suspect the couple of poor reviews are due to strict carding policies. In my experience, the staff has always been friendly and helpful. read more

My review of Mo's is just about the beer selection. It's amazing. They have tons of regional microbrews, good imports (I'm not talking Heinekin here), and some extreme rarities - including Sam Adams Utopias. Was my usual stop to pick up beer or wine after work, until I went in with my husband, was carded and realized I left my wallet at work. Although in the state of CT only the person purchasing the alcohol needs to be carded, the cashier even admitted, "I see you guys in here often" she still refused to sell to us which was incredibly inconvenient. Best selection in town, helpful and friendly staff. Great prices, convenient location. I go out of my way to go here instead of the 100 other liquor stores near me because they always have what I need at competitive prices. Those of you complaining have to understand that being tough about carding is essential in a university area, half of the customers I see in there are college students, Mo's has to watch their butts with all the kids going in and out of there. The wine manager Matt has always given me great advice when choose wine for presents and hostess gifts! They are also great about order wine you have tried somewhere else that they might not normally carry. Really enjoy this store. Great tastings on Friday and Saturday, be sure to check them out. HUMONGOUS selection of wine and beers. Not a mixed drink drinker, so no idea about that. Employees that work there are nice and the ones in the aisles know what they are talking about. Always get great advice on wines. Never felt rushed when I've asked questions. My one gripe is PARKING. Wish we had a way to pre-order what we want and do a drive by pick up. Sometimes their parking lot can be busy, particularly during holidays. Christmas-time was nuts. read more

I would do less than 1 star if I could. Went in with a friend to get some quick drinks and was told rudely by a woman that we would both need our IDs even though I was the one purchasing and had my id. It was an understandable request, but we did not appreciate the immediate unnecessary attitude. My friend went back to get his wallet and expressed his unhappiness with the womans attitude just to be told with even greater attitude and confrontation "its clearly written on the sign on the door if you can read" as she walks over to the door to read out the sign. "You guys can shop somewhere else" she concludes. "Seriously?" I reply just to be told "Yeah, you guys are rude. You can go somewhere else." I ask her if my friend leaves can I purchase what I need as she had seen his ID. "No. You guys are rude. Actually, youre ok, he just rude. This is my store. Bye." At this point Im livid. We were given attitude and no hospitality immediately just to have our time wasted. Went down the road to another store and explain what just happened to be told they have heard of similar stories. I wish there was an option for 0 star.. i don't usually use yelp but I have never felt disrespected in my life. I walked in with my mother, trying to grab some drinks for the beach.. First off , no one greeted my mother and I. Not a good start. I am of age and I was the one buying it. My mother wasn't drinking because she is driving and has a low tolerance for alcohol. I had my I.D. When the clerk asked me for my ID I showed it to her. My mother is 45 and the clerk asked her for an ID. She obviously looks older than I do. We politely told the lady that the ID was in the car and that she was not drinking. The clerk lady was so rude to us. We explained that she was my mother and she takes the bottles away from us and placed the bottles behind the counter. My mother and I walked maybe 15 minutes to the car and walked back to the store with my mothers ID. We were a little frustrated and confused because we couldn't understand why she couldn't let us purchase when its so obvious that my mother is older than I am. Once we stepped in she squinted her eyes and said " can you PEOPLE not see the paper?!" We are an Asian family and we felt strongly disrepected because she was obviously making a racist joke to us. I told her she was being rude and expressed our feelings about her racist "joke" then said "we came back with the i.d so what is the problem?" She made an uglier face than her ugly face and told us to leave because we accused her of being racist. My mother saw me about to lose it so she decided that we walk out. The clerk lady tried to embarrass us infront of other customers but I know she has embarrassed herself. I will never purchase from this disgusting store ever again. Jenning's beach is too much of a beautiful place to have such racist, disgusting, time wasting, unreasonable, no etiqutte and disrespectful liquor store like this. Do not support this place ever. This place ruins your good vibe for the beach. This place deserves something worse than a star.... I will be telling this story to everyone I know. read more

Shop at this store when on that side of town, nice selection of wine, and a ton of beer to choose from. This place is just down the street from a University, and kids being kids, obviously try their best to beat the system. These guys take it seriously! This is definitely "my" wine and spirits store. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful and very interesting to talk to; the descriptions posted with the wines, particularly the "staff picks," are reliable, and a big help to people (like me) who appreciate good wine but are not themselves oenologists. The variety of EVERYTHING (wine, beer, spirits) is very good. In summer the array of rosés is as gorgeous to look at as it is rewarding to try. Prices are very fair. read more
