Steve Cannon - State Farm Insurance Agent

I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience with Steve Cannon State Farm Insurance…read more I initially called the office to add a new vehicle to my existing policy. I spoke with Colin, who provided me with a quote for the new vehicle. I asked him to email the quote to me, but he explained that due to a system change, he was unable to send the email at that time. He advised me to call back the next day to move forward with the process and assured me that he would leave detailed notes about our conversation, including the quote he provided. When I called back the next day, I spoke with Marisa Litavis, and unfortunately, she seemed completely unaware of the conversation I had with Colin. Instead of professionally reviewing the situation, she made an inappropriate comment along the lines of "you know men do not give details," and also made additional comments about Colin's work ethic that I should not have been privy to as a customer. That was extremely unprofessional. Marisa then gave me a new quote for the vehicle, but the amount was over $100 more per month than what Colin had quoted me the day before. When I questioned why the amount was so different, she stated that they were doing system upgrades and said she would double-check and call me back. When she called back, she told me that the higher amount was the new price and that Colin's quote was incorrect. Because of the drastic difference in price, I let Marisa know that I would be shopping around for more affordable insurance. I ended up finding a new policy for both my home and auto insurance with another large company. Not only was the new company able to offer me better coverage, but the price was also much more affordable than what I was being quoted through Steve Cannon State Farm. Since the State Farm office was already closed by the time I secured my new policy, I waited until the next morning to call and cancel my existing policies. When I called, I spoke with Marisa again and informed her that I wanted to cancel because I had found better and more affordable insurance. Her tone and attitude toward me were extremely rude, nasty, and unprofessional. I felt mistreated and disrespected, and honestly, the way I was spoken to made me feel like I was being treated unfairly as a Black customer. Marisa told me she would cancel the policies and that I should receive cancellation information. Because of how poorly the conversation was going, I told her I preferred to stay on the line until I received confirmation. She rudely told me to "hold." Once she came back on the line, I was able to confirm that I received the cancellation information. However, while I was still speaking, Marisa abruptly said "okay, bye" and hung up while I was mid-sentence. I called back and told her that she had hung up on me while I was speaking. She denied it and became argumentative. She also stated that she wanted the rate and company information for my new insurer, but at that point, I no longer felt comfortable continuing that discussion. I told her directly that her behavior was rude and unprofessional. I have had my home and two vehicles insured through this State Farm location since I purchased my home in January 2021. As a long-term customer, I expected to be treated with basic respect, professionalism, and fairness. Instead, I was met with inconsistent quote information, inappropriate comments about another employee, a lack of accountability, and extremely poor customer service when I decided to move my policies elsewhere. I used to think highly of State Farm as a brand, so this experience was very disappointing. I truly hope State Farm does not condone this type of behavior from any office representing its name. It is unfortunate that this location gave me such a negative final experience after years of being a customer. Steve Cannon State Farm needs to do better. Customers should be treated fairly and respectfully, even when they choose to make the best financial decision for their household. No customer should feel mistreated, dismissed, or disrespected simply because they found more affordable insurance elsewhere.

They made a mistake when switching over my previous insurance and My effective date was incorrect which resulted in a lapse of insurance without my knowledge until months later. What would have happened if I was in an accident at that time ? Most recently made a mistake with an effective date that left my wife at the tag office for 2 hours before it was corrected . My wife and I called the office at minimum 30 times and no one ever answered the phone . We were texted and said they were all in a meeting and would return our call , well I'm still waiting for a call back 5 days later. They continue to make mistakes and then make you feel like it's fault . One min the manager is at lunch and another moment he's on Vacation . Dishonest and unprofessional.

I am sorry to say we have had a very frustrating and poor experience in dealing with Allstate for a…read morehomeowners claim. We have been loyal customers to Allstate for several years carrying two car policies and a homeowners policy. To be fair, they were definitely the cheapest on premiums when we originally shopped for homeowners insurance. Over the past 4 and a half years we have had 4 issues we at least looked into as far as a possible claim (broken main water line, dying large tree near the house, foundation support repair, and sump pump replacement) and were told all were not covered. While frustrating, we didn't complain. About a month ago we noticed water damage along a wall and wood floor of our finished basement. When my wife called and talked to Mr. Longyear she immediately felt like they were not planning on paying for anything without even knowing the details of the problem and told me as much as soon as she got off the phone. Frequently basement water issues are from ground water which typically is not covered. We assumed this to be the case and proceeded with remediation as instructed by the Longyear office. Our contractor soon discovered it was a leaking condensation drain line behind the dry wall. We immediately called Allstate and were told the soonest an adjusted could get out was two weeks. I did meet the adjuster two weeks later and he just looked for a few minutes, and I emailed pictures I had taken. He agreed the source was definitely the drain line. The adjuster called a week later and said it would not be covered because it was a slow leak and caused mold even though it was undetectable. They stated this was common practice and coverage for all insurance agencies. A quick internet search and I found multiple accounts of these slow undetectable leaks being covered. An article on insure.com cited "associate editor of National Underwriter and FC&S Online, which interprets insurance policies for the industry." She stated, "But what about a slow leak you can't see? Say, for instance, a pipe behind a wall leaks, and you don't notice it until water starts seeping through the wall. Are you covered? Most likely the answer is yes, as long as you take action as soon as there is evidence of the leak, Barlow says. "Nobody expects you to tear out your drywall now and again to check the pipes," Barlow notes. So insurance companies understand it's impossible to know you have a hidden leak until the damage becomes apparent." - Christine G. Barlow (a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter) I also have friends with a very similar issue of a AC condensation line backing up and overflowing the drain pan in their attic leading to slow but significant water damage to the ceiling and the entire floor below, causing a much larger financial repair. It was covered. When we called and complained to the consumer department for the Georgia Department of Insurance the woman that answered the phone stated she had literally just gotten off the phone with another individual having the same problem with Allstate for the same issue. I feel this is a failure of trust with Allstate and the Robert Longyear office. I must recommend anyone looking for insurance to seek other options.
