I usually would go to Sarasota Memorial, Downtown, which I do for breast exams, etc. and rate them highly. I will not come back to SMH at University Parkway for a MRI. The person providing the MRI said he was at the end of his 7 hour shift. He was not dressed neatly in "uniform" of any kind, and smelled of BO. I first thought he was a maintenance person. He did not provide assistance in terms of how to negotiate the MRI bed, what to hold on to, etc. Very casual and not engaged in the process. Very unusual from positive experienced I have had with SMH downtown.

We're just finding out over two years later that he and the…read morepsychiatrist he referred me to overloaded me on a mix of EIGHT different POISONS over the course of THREE MONTHS: an antidepressant, benzos, Lunesta. an antipsychotic and ordered 2 different anti seizure meds, which I refused. All this stemming from ONE panic attack that led to the inappropriate prescribing of these POISONS; not once did any of these lessen my symptoms, but rather worsened them and presented new ones which led to more drugs and new false diagnoses. And the worst, an attempted OD that left me hospitalized. But first: I was only on levothyroxine for years, and after ONE panic attack he had me STOP it for 4 days, then restart it at 50%, a drastic reduction after being stable for decades. He then gave me Xanax, mirtazapine, busparone all within 2 weeks and didn't stop there. He did not once appear to monitor the effectiveness and potential paradoxical effects, which we now know was the case: the drugs worsened the symptoms they were designed to treat. Both my husband and I both left his " practice" due to the aforementioned incompetence and unjustified arrogance of his refusal to refer me to an endocrinologist once another physician ( granted, a former anesthesiologist turned wellness MD) ordered blood labs that showed a high level of thyroid antibodies leading to a Dx of Hashimotos. (Aside: Kahane also declined my request for a referral to a dermatologist to remove my husband's skin tags, claiming he could do it... we were horrified when he proceeded to numb him with lidocaine and cut the 30+ of them with a scalpel, which by the way my husband felt, rather than cauterize them as we had anticipated. I went from living a HEALTHY and productive life as a physical therapist and athlete to being mostly bed bound and suffering from a myriad of major medical problems. Look up the dangers of not tapering these poisons, as well as lingering effects on the nervous system, BIND ( benzo. Induced neurologic dysfunction), kindling... find Dr. Josef on YouTube. Got more out of him from an hour video than sessions with this incompetent "doctor".

I had a right total hip replacement 1/28/26 at Premier Surgery Center by Dr Silverstein. I must…read moreadmit I'm used to state of the art surgery centers ( retired RN) and found the aesthetics quite outdated. Putting that aside the care I received was outstanding!Nurse Kelly my prep op nurse was so kind, explained everything , made me comfortable, I felt a real connection to her! Top notch professional!! The CRNA I believe his name was Edwardo was so kind and gentle, answered questions put in my IV, reassured me he would do his best to keep my post op pain under control and he did! I then met the Anesthesiologist Dr. Lawson, Wow what a gifted man. Answered all my annoying questions so thoroughly including telling me the history of the drug used to control bleeding! So kind and caring! Silvi my postop nurse was amazing too!! Then Dr. Silverstein, what can I say? He is a gifted talented surgeon with a hint of sass who explained to me step by step what he did! I had my last hip replacement on the left side by one of the surgeons who was on the team that invented the anterior approach in Michigan at a fancy state of the art surgery center. Although I was happy with the care there it didn't match the care I got at Premier! So happy I got the surgery here in Sarasota! I hope this snowbirds recovery goes well. All was fine (courteous,…read moreprofessional, nice facility) except we had to wait 30 minutes to get the blood drawn and there was only one person ahead of us. It turns out that is because in "off season" (early June) they only have one nurse on duty. So, just be aware that there could be more of a wait than you would expect, but it does save a trip to town. You do need a signed order from a doctor to get the bloodwork done.

I was in town for vacation. Broke my finger while here at went to an actual er the day it happened…read more I was out of the elastic bandage holding my splint on (what was on my hand was not sticking anymore and out of pain meds and still in tons of pain. I came here to have them rewrap it (I get very queezy with anything medical) the PA, Yuliya, scoffed that I hadn't changed the dressing (the er told me to leave it alone because it was broken, also I am one handed). She then proceeded to unwrap everything and cut off what she couldn't unwrap and was extremely rough with my broken finger!! She proceeded to tell me to daily unsplint it and rewrap it. The first er I went to told me not to unsplint it because it was broken and needed to stay stable. As she was being extremely rough moving and pulling the wrap against my finger, I told her it hurt and reminded her it was broken. She said I know. The nurse offered to help her and she ignored her and continued. I cried the rest of the afternoon from how much pain she inflicted. My finger was throbbing and I could feel intense pain where it is broken at. I called a family member who is a RN to vent and she was appalled at the behavior and actions.

I went to see Dr. Bakus as a walk in the next day and was diagnosed and treated within hours despite it being a holiday weekend. She has stayed on top of the situation. I appreciate the whole spectrum of medicine practiced from modern, to Eastern and in between. Dr. Bakus is thorough, caring and empathetic. Her staff is equally wonderful.
