I waited 40 minutes to have vitals taken and be shown to the room. I was told the doctor was running a bit behind but would see me by noon. By 20min after noon, I'd not been seen. The medical assistant who took my vitals said she needed to ask the doctor, but she never got back to me. When the doctor arrived he was personable, but brief. Review of My Experience…read more I'm sharing my experience because I believe patients should know what they may encounter at this office. I was charged a cash "convenience" fee simply for having blood drawn in the office. I also submitted a new insurance/pharmacy card and provided the office with a copy, yet my prescriptions were sent to the incorrect mail-order pharmacy twice. As a result, I was without some of my medication for more than a week. My most frustrating experience involved an appointment. I was running approximately 15 minutes late because I was stuck in traffic, but I called the office while I was on the road and left a message more than an hour before my scheduled appointment to explain the situation. When I arrived, I was told I would not be seen unless I paid a $100 missed-appointment fee. I refused to pay it because I had notified the office in advance and was only 15 minutes late. I asked to speak with the doctor, but I was told the doctor would not speak with me and that the fee would not be waived. Shortly afterward, I received a letter in the mail stating that the practice would no longer be treating me. Overall, I found the experience extremely disappointing. The issues with my prescriptions were particularly concerning because they resulted in me being without medication for over a week. The way the appointment situation was handled also left me feeling that my concerns were not heard or taken seriously. I'm sharing this review based on my personal experience so that others can make an informed decision about where they receive their care.

She believes in preventative care and is extremely professional. Her offices are clean and well run, she truly cares about her patients, and she is easy to talk to. Since money was always an issue for me, she went out of her way to give me samples or discount coupons on my prescription medications, when they were available. She also made sure to discuss every aspect of life with me that would affect my health; such as diet, stress, excercise, family history, and overall well being. She has also given me excellent referrals and worked with my insurance companies to make sure that my preventative care is covered. Sometimes her office staff and nurses can be pushy or rude, since she is in a shared office complex with other doctors.

There should be no co-pay for this appointment, we already verified. The receptionist would not help, just demanded the co-pay. After 45 mins we left, within 5 minutes the clinic sent a cancellation of the appointment notice. We had already been in contact with his case worker, and we confirmed no co-pay should be ask of us. The man behind the counter was rude and unhelpful, took calls and helped other clients without providing any additional information, other than, pay the co-pay. I will never handle my health affairs at this clinic or any MCR clinic since this is how they treat non insurance patients.

JANET LAM, APRN - This might be Labcorp's doing OR Janet L.'s fault, but I had asked for specific levels on my lab work that were not completed as asked. I had my primary physician confirm that these levels were not checked in the labs. DANA HAMTINI, NP - My third experience was another nurse practitioner who has only been in practice for a year. I was addressing my low thyroid levels/lab results and she essentially gaslit me trying to say that the levels weren't "that abnormal" when I was trying to explain that I have reason to believe that we should keep an eye on it. She quite literally said, "I can't just give you medication for something you don't have." when I hadn't even suggested medication. I was expressing that it should be looked into further, but I was basically shut down. Unprofessional and clearly not in health care for the right reasons.

Jessica, the nurse took my blood pressure and some information. Dr. Denise Guevara did my exam. She was extremely thorough and took all my concerns seriously. I have had many cancer screenings before but Dr. Guevara was the very best. I definitely recommend MCR-Dermatology with Dr. Denise Guevara. She was extremely knowledgeable, did a thorough check and was very nice making me feel comfortable. Jessica, the nurse, was also excellent and very nice. Not sure about the actual health care because after arriving 15 minutes early for my appointment, I sat in the waiting room for 45 minutes until I could no longer wait. People were jammed in like sardines in the waiting room and also all along the wall outside the waiting room. Ridiculous in the age of Covid that this place overbooks to this degree and expects people to wait 45 minutes or more. There was one lady with expiring insurance who had already waited over 2 hours. I have no idea how much longer I was going to wait before seeing someone because in my mind 45 minutes was plenty long enough. After 45 minutes I asked that my co-pay be refunded to my card and I left. This is dermatolgy, not like it is an emergency room where something unexpected like a bus crash impacting an ER might be the cause of a long delay. Nope. This long delay was due simply to the greed evident when signing up way more people for appointments than they can reasonably accomodate. This is part of the MCR (Manatee Rural Health) network now and it shows. Same lack of caring, hard if not impossible to get someone on the phone or line up referrals or get a straight answer. I was also told that this appointment was only for a 'meet and greet' type visit with a doctor, not what I thought I was booking and just a blatant cash grab to get you to return so they can bill your insurance again and charge you a high co-pay. I was there to get a suspicious small growth removed. It doesn't take a 'meet 'n greet' to just go ahead and take care of the issue I am there for.

On March 7, 2026, I experienced vomiting, severe chest pain, and urinary issues characterized by a strong ammonia odor. A neighbor transported me to a hospital in a neighboring county. It was subsequently diagnosed that I had been suffering from a severe urinary tract infection for approximately one month. The sole positive aspect of Dr. Walsh is his willingness to prescribe controlled substances when necessary for pain and anxiety. I decided to terminate my association with him as my healthcare provider and am grateful that I discontinued the controlled medication he had prescribed for several months. I regard him as an incompetent, uncaring physician. No thank you.

They have been excellent-always helping me find the right specialists and care I need. Jessica Fennel, APRN, has been who I've seen every time I've had an appointment. She is nice, thorough and knowledgeable. She works through Dr.Douglas Walsh. She has always helped whatever I've needed. I definitely recommend North Manatee Family Healthcare. They maintain Covid safety procedures which makes me feel safe. Every single person I've worked with from the staff answering phones, nurses and my APRN have been excellent. They all seem to really care about the patients and doing what they can to help. I am very happy to come here because I know they will do their best for me.
