While this store seems to have a little of everything, their houseplants are terrible. Not one of them is pretty and healthy and the case of rare plants actually has half dead plants in it. I was told this was the place to go in Moscow for houseplants. It is not. Unless you want to buy one that you'll need to spend a couple months nursing back to health. I was very disappointed. I think I'll stick to OfferUp and Blossm for my houseplants. read more

Moscow building supply is always there for my construction and plant needs. It is the number one spot to go get houseplants and outdoor plants and the employees are always so knowledgeable. Specifically Laina who works in the nursery! She was so helpful in helping me pick out some plants for my porch and I now have a beautiful spot to hang out. i don't know her name, but a girl with curly blonde hair in the nursery really helped me out with finding my perfect perennial, a dianthus! she was so knowledgeable about the plants and she told me all about how to take care of it and what to expect throughout the course of the seasons. thank you mbs and girl who's name i definitely don't know! mbs should give her a raise, definitely at least $20 an hour, plus tips. read more

One winter night our furnace died and I called MBS it's was just before closing and one of the employees offered to bring us a space heater on his way home. Thanks to them we had a warmer evening. Now we look forward to their garden department to open For spring. It's a good store. read more

This place just keeps going downhill. They overcharge you for almost everything they sell and their lumber is super low quality and the give you a hard time if you sort. Definitely don't let them deliver it as the last time I had lumber delivered every single 2x4 had a live edge and I'm not talking about just a little bit, practically a third of each piece was that way. Their customer service stinks as well. At this point I would rather make the drive to Home Depot for lumber and go to Spence's Hardware for the rest. I saved around $150 at HD on plywood and lumber the last time I made the trip. read more

This review is long overdue! My mother had requested a specific hydrangea plant for Mother's Day, I called around everywhere in the Lewis-Clark valley and stores kept trying to offer me another solution. I finally called Moscow Building Supply where I talked to Bobby, he was amazing! He said he would talk to his hydrangea supplier - and low and behold he was able to get the plant on order for me! It took a bit longer to get in because of the season and special order, but he followed up with my consistently to ensure I was still happy with my purchase and to give me updates on the shipping/arrival dates. My mom was able to pick up her hydrangea's at the beginning of June and is absolutely in love with them! Bobby was kind enough to follow up with a phone call to make sure my mom loved her plants and that I was happy with my experience! I cannot thank Bobby enough for his awesome customer service!! Above and beyond! I should also mention, I am currently residing in Cleveland, OH and was able to do this all over the phone! I will definitely be purchasing future Mother's Day gifts from Bobby! I love to shop local, I know brick and mortar stores are experiencing hard times, and normally I don't post bad reviews. But I believe in good customer service and this time the service was so bad I felt inclined to post about it. I tried to contact the store manager, who promised a call back. It's because I never received that call that I'm posting this! Bearing in mind, we live an hour outside of town, we purchased a faulty fake fireplace heater. No big deal, products can be lemons. So we turned around, made another hour long trip back to town to return the item. Not only did we not a receive any sort of "I'm sorry you had to deal with this", the help was downright rude. We asked to plug in the exchange unit to make sure this one was working. The guy un-boxed it, plugged it in, said "there you go, it works" turned around and walked away! Left my husband to pick up all the pieces on the floor, box it up, and take it out to the car. I work in a customer service environment, and I would never treat a customer the way we were treated. Needless to say, we won't be back. Will drive clear to Lewiston before shopping there again. Customer service really does matter! read more

What a great hardware/DIY store with a good garden & plants area! Every time we start a project, at some point, we get in the car to go to MBS for the tool or little part we need that wasn't in the box of RTA furniture. I wanted to like this store, gave them several chances to earn my business, but will no longer shop here. Today I was treated rudely by the woman at the customer service desk when I attempted to return an item purchased just yesterday. I told her I bought the wrong size. She opened the package, removed all of the contents, then told me that she couldn't accept the return because it "had been used". No, it hadn't. She called over a manager to get his approval for the return, and he of course approved (at least someone was reasonable). On an earlier visit, I asked for a quote on a new door. The guy called someone at the Pullman store, and instead of asking me to clarify what I wanted, I heard him say "oh, let's just pretend it's fiberglass". There's no way I can trust that quote! It's worth a drive to Lewiston to get good customer service from Home Depot. For smaller purchases, there's Ace Hardware here in town. These two stores will be getting my business from now on. read more

Outstanding full-service hardware store. As an avid DIY-er, I was bummed to not have a Lowe's or Home Depot here when I first moved here. But a few trips to Moscow Building Supply, with their outstanding, above-and-beyond customer service, allayed those feelings. I just had one of the worst rental experience I have ever had. Had to wait for two days for my scheduled rental time (that was ok). Call to check before going to the store. Talked to a person, but the item was not available for pick up (not their fault). They were going to check on why not, (this is where things started to go wrong) I had to call again later to get an update. Talked to the same person, the item had still not returned. So they were going to check again and to see if it was not back. If it wasn't they would give me a substitute. I called again to get the substitute product. This time I just got voicemail, so waited some more, called again and got more voicemail. Called general service desk, voicemail there too. After an hour and a half, I called a real rental company and had what I needed in 20 minutes. MBS never returned a single one of my 5 calls. This lack of service was not affected by Covid-19. read more

Normally our experience with Moscow Building Supply has been very good. However, for the past 5 weeks my husband and I have been trying to get the parts necessary for putting a new chimney in our home. After numerous visits, where the parts we need are not in stock (but we are promised that they will be arriving with the next delivery), and having our name and number taken several times for someone to contact us to answer questions about the supposed products/supplies arriving "soon" (with no phone call ever received). We are giving up and taking our business elsewhere. I think that we have been more than patient. read more

Usually I have been more than happy with MBS. Today I tried to exchange a pair of Dickies pants that are 3 weeks old, because I noticed the fastener button was beginning to come apart.The manager gal was very rude and refused to exchange them because I had worn them to work in. That is why I bought them I informed her. She said she could not return them. I spent a lot of money there and I will be building a house in the future, but I will go elsewhere after this experience. She was very rude and condescending, not professional at all. The other employees have always been helpful and courteous. I won't be spending my money there. read more

Moscow building supply is the best hardware store in the area in my opinion. There are several reasons I say this. The first and main reason is price because no one can beat them on any product price such as electrical or any other thing. They offer huge variety, especially their lumber. Renting equipment can be a bit pricey, however it is well worth it. The employees literally seek you out and help you with just about anything. It's quite funny actually because if you are found alone especially in the warehouse they run on over to help you find what you need. They are good with offering advise especially when it comes to finishing products. They take good care of the equipment they rent out so when you go to use the machines they run smoothly with no problems. One of my favorite things about this place is that they have a contracters department where you can recieve specialized tips as well as back orders on any items they don't carry. read more

Today was my first experience shopping at Moscow Building Supply. The staff were able to help my find everything I was looking for, and they were quick about it too! The checkout gal, Clarity, was so friendly and made me feel like I had been shopping there for years, even though it was only my first time!
