A lot of it looks like it's the same as its 1913 establishment date. The claim to fame is that the Mount Dora Yacht Club is Florida's oldest inland Yacht Club. But guess what it doesn't have? It doesn't have any yachts; hence a yachtless yacht club. So, about the only use of the place is as a rental facility for weddings, etc.

When we walked in downstairs, there was a bar on the side and tables and chairs. We got a drink and went outside for the view of the lake. It was cool to see the seaplanes taking off. The receiption took place upstairs. The bar in the middle was a good location and the line never got too long. They encouraged holding on to our wine glasses if we wanted a refill. The wedding wasn't too large so there was room for tables on both sides and a dance floor. The couple also set up a screen to project video during dancing; there was room for all of it. The food buffet was delicious and refilled generously. It was in all a great experience. Only one terrifying thing worth mentioning was at the end of the night, it was dark outside and light inside so all of the mosquitoes were attacking the windows and anywhere there was light. The staff said these were the type of mosquito that only lives one day. Still terrifying because there were so many of them (biblical amounts) and when we walked outside, we had to go through them. This is nature and not the venue's fault but be aware!

I was constantly up and down the stairs because dinner was upstairs and dancing was downstairs. 2. They also have specific rules about some of the antiques which can be difficult to comply with when you have people placing their wet cups on an antique table! It may be beneficial for them to maybe place some glass over the wood to preserve it better. Other than that the staff was helpful and made the event perfect for the bride and groom along with the wonderful coordinating staff, caterers, etc. 67/100 for the Review Challenge

The downstairs reception area doesn't have AC, but is equipped with a lot of fans, which is a great bonus. It has a white ceiling which is great for photographer's lighting. The ceremony space is under a beautiful oak tree, with benches. The only downside is that from a photographer's point of view the ceremony site is angled in a way that you get a lot of distracting items in the background when capturing people coming down the aisle. The property itself is gorgeous to photograph the couple on, there is a long drive filled with huge oak trees with Spanish moss hanging down. When the sun sets it streams through these trees creating a beautiful warm glow. There are cows and horses in the fields next door completing that country style. All in all it's a great barn venue. I've just knocked off one star for the lack of AC and the distractions in the background from my point of view.

It has CVS , UF Healthcare, Edna's Hospitality, Marsh View Pitch & Putt Golf Course, Everglades Recreation Center, Publix Grocery, Mc Donald's, KB Home & Garden, Dental Care , Foxtail Coffee, & Marco's Pizza. A city where golf carts are the main of transportation around the city. They have their own road and even have a certain allocated underground tunnel to cross the main roads. Magnolia Plaza is the shopping and business center in the city!! I came here to visit a high school friend who resides here after her retirement last 5 years ago !!! When given a chance to live here , it would be nice!!

I am so glad I followed my GPS down the country dirt road to get to D & J Blueberry Farms! They…read moretruly have the best berries in my opinion. Here's an actual picture of the berries we collected. It was just $25 a bucket (prepaid) and we were able to fill an entire bucket in just under an hour. I got home and weighed my bag of blueberries and it was about 6 pounds!!! I also grabbed some of their honey made right there on the farm from the bees that help pollinate the blueberry bushes. And they did have prepicked buckets for just $30 a bucket or $7 a pint in case you don't have time to pick yourself. We will be back again soon!
