I didn't think we'd make it through before the pool closed. I was wrong, luckily. They have an adults only pool and spa, and an open pool, spa, and lazy river. They were all relatively well kept, though there were multiple bottle caps at the bottom that we kept stepping on. The ones that were there the night before were still there the morning after. The pool staff were really nice. They had already run out of towels at the counters, and the guy went to get us some freshly cleaned ones from the utility room. Much appreciated. The rooms were very nice. We stayed in the king suite, very well laid out. Only complaint is they had a steamer and not an iron. Doesn't work the same, but oh well. The decor was nice, the bed was comfortable, the AC was rocking. Really enjoyed the room. Whomever stayed there previously not only changed the time on the clock, but set an alarm at an ungodly hour. Well played. The casino is a bit smaller than Golden Nugget across the street. The lower ceilings give it a smaller, cozier feel. No luck on the slots here, but we did get into some blackjack. Under the tutelage of Justin T. I now have a new favorite card game. I had previously stayed away from the tables. By the time we checked in all the restaurants had closed, so we didn't get to try any of the food here. The wait staff in the casino were not very attentive and did not return with our drinks. When we found the guy later in the same spot that we ordered in, he said he had been back and that we had left even though we hadn't moved since we had been there. Always fun catching the BS. So well I can rate the lack of service, I can't rate the quality of the drinks because I didn't have one. Maybe next time. Parking here is easy, there's a huge lot outside. They also have garage parking, which I prefer. Have your car out of the elements. Overall really good stay, would definitely come again.

One star down, because they allow smoking in the building. Absolutely hate it. The evening trip was smoke everywhere. Interestingly, the next morning, there was very little scent of smoke remaining, so their AC puts in work. They were also replacing doors and equipment, and repairing areas to keep it in good condition. Half of the casino floor was closed off for some reason in the morning, likely remodeling or cleaning. I like a clean facility. They seemed to do a good job at cleaning as there weren't any glass cups or other trash hanging out. Security folks were nice, and very efficient. We weren't able to get on the black jack tables, too crowded the first night for the minimum we wanted to play at, or too few tables the next morning. So we hit some slots. Parking is easy. Garage and lots are available. Personally prefer the garage for the ease. We went to the Saltgrass restaurant on the premises, it had absolutely awful service. I won't take that out on the casino, it will get it's own review. Will definitely be back to the casino again. Always a good time, especially with the right people.

However, I am disappointed that the hotel would see it fit to offer a room in this condition to anyone with the amount of money spent here. We will enjoy our time here, we always do. I just wanted to share my thoughts in hopes the hotel will do better.

Although I was authorized to stay for 2 nights, I only stayed for 1 night, as I had to get back to New Orleans to take care of some "family stuff". I arrived several hours before normal check in time and decided to stop at the hotel before I went to my first meeting. I was courteously greeted by Tenesha who asked if she could help me with anything. I told her I was kindly asking for an early check in so as to get rid of my luggage prior to my meeting. She checked and apologized that there was nothing yet available but offered to hold my luggage for me. As I was walking out to go to my meeting, she advised that a room just became available, and I was able to unload my luggage and check in. (SCORE!) The room was in pretty good shape. Perhaps a little worn; it could have used a fresh coat of paint and a new lightbulb for the desk, but everything else was just fine. The room was very clean upon arrival and the bed was actually very comfortable. It was nice to see that the electrical outlets were not worn out or loose yet and the water pressure was actually quite good. After my day of meetings, I went back to the hotel and chilled out a while before heading out to dinner. Upon my return, I was greeted by Tenesha again. I settled in and started a video chat with my son to help with his homework. We were working on math and I was having trouble looking at the problems via my phone. My wife forwarded me screenshots of the math problems but I was unable to print them using my work laptop. I went back to the front desk and was courteously greeted by Ms. Jupiter. She let me forward her my emailed pics and she printed them so that I cold help my son with his homework. (SCORE AGAIN!) What an over the top nice gesture this was, and I wanted to recognize her (& Tenesha) for the EXCELLENT customer service they provided. Lastly, the complimentary breakfast was actually quite good. This was a $15.00 - $20.00 savings had I chosen to go out to eat breakfast at a local "diner". All in all, I had a very nice stay and had an excellent experience.

Well, even though I just arrived, so far everything has gone smoothly. Check-in was a breeze, and now I'm relaxing a bit in my room after a 305 mile drive ( past two days were r340+. So I thought I would cut back a bit :-D ). For the price, it's an awesome room. Now, I'm not one to complain over small things (a bit of mildew, the stopper in the tub missing, closet door off track, etc), but the tub issue noted above). And, 2 design complaints (would not effect the rating): the bathroom door has to be closed in order for the main door to open. And, the closing arm on the door is quite tight, but the door doesn't close completely (doesn't make sense with the tension on the the door closer). The mini-fridge works too well. I found my water bottles frozen. :-o I found the modern office chair to be uncomfortable after about 10 minutes (there is no cushion in the seat just netting). While the bathroom is very well lit ( 1 over the tub; 1 at the edge of vanity counter top), it's not conductive for men to shave. The main light is located above your head, so a shadow is cast. A guy has to stand back by the tub in order to eliminate most of the shadows. With regards to their Wi-Fi, I think Best Western and La Quinta are owned by the same company. As here too, the Wi-Fi is unsecured. Also, I did lose connectivity one time last night.

G Raj Singh, the "manager" ought to be ashamed of himself, i bet he wouldnt want to sleep in the room conditions we slept in!

I was also somewhat thrown off by... when I walked in I saw what looked like an airport convenience store checkout station with snacks and souvenirs for purchase. The attendant greeted me, but was wearing a t shirt and hoodie, so, I couldn't tell if this was the concierge or if I needed to go somewhere else. The staff was friendly, and check in was painless. I was greeted with a goodie bag and a "thanks for being a Hilton Honors member." When I went up to the room the TV was displaying a "Welcome Nick," which was a nice touch. I also received a text the following day to see if I was enjoying my stay. There is a complimentary breakfast buffet with a variety of options open early (around 6am) to accommodate those traveling for business. There is no pool, but there's a gym with plenty of exercise options. There's also a lounge and business area with work stations, foosball, and areas to just unwind. The rooms are relatively modern, yet cozy, each equipped with most typical hotel room amenities. Tru is located near several other hotels, and it's almost walking distance from a variety of restaurants. If you want to gamble, the casinos are just a short drive from the hotel. Some tips: Sign up for Hilton Honors to get a little goodie bag upon arrival. Take advantage of the breakfast, as it's actually pretty good. I was impressed by the body wash/hand soap that was provided. The dispensers were neat, and had a squeeze functionality that I'd never used before. But the fragrance of the lemon sugar scent was very enjoyable Cheers!

Got the job done. Clean and fairly quiet. Free breakfast was what you'd expect for a free breakfast.read more
