I was also somewhat thrown off by... when I walked in I saw what looked like an airport convenience store checkout station with snacks and souvenirs for purchase. The attendant greeted me, but was wearing a t shirt and hoodie, so, I couldn't tell if this was the concierge or if I needed to go somewhere else. The staff was friendly, and check in was painless. I was greeted with a goodie bag and a "thanks for being a Hilton Honors member." When I went up to the room the TV was displaying a "Welcome Nick," which was a nice touch. I also received a text the following day to see if I was enjoying my stay. There is a complimentary breakfast buffet with a variety of options open early (around 6am) to accommodate those traveling for business. There is no pool, but there's a gym with plenty of exercise options. There's also a lounge and business area with work stations, foosball, and areas to just unwind. The rooms are relatively modern, yet cozy, each equipped with most typical hotel room amenities. Tru is located near several other hotels, and it's almost walking distance from a variety of restaurants. If you want to gamble, the casinos are just a short drive from the hotel. Some tips: Sign up for Hilton Honors to get a little goodie bag upon arrival. Take advantage of the breakfast, as it's actually pretty good. I was impressed by the body wash/hand soap that was provided. The dispensers were neat, and had a squeeze functionality that I'd never used before. But the fragrance of the lemon sugar scent was very enjoyable Cheers!

The nicest employees of any HIE that I have visited this year…read more I do not often find myself in Lake Charles. In fact, I have never spent the night there until this stay. I had to be at a work thing first thing in the morning and booked this room about three hours before I arrived. Luckily for me they still had rooms. When I arrived I was greeted by the sweetest desk clerk I have ever met. She was friendly and such a great host. I was checked in and headed to my room in just a few minutes. The room was their version of a suite. It was clean, and cold, and made good use of the space. This appears to be an older hotel that was renovated. It is better than some HIE but on par with others. It is a solid choice for travelers. The only downfall of this hotel is the parking lot. It is oddly laid out and not very spacious. I would suggest parking by one of the side or rear entrances. It was busy up front. If I travel to LC again, this is likely where I will stay.

The two ladies that were there when I checked in were so helpful and very welcoming ( something you don't get at many hotels) . I was given a room on the first floor not far from the lobby. It was quiet and quite comfortable. Overall I had a good stay and I would definitely stay here again.

Very pleasantly surprised with this hotel. Traveling for work, I have stayed at several hotels in…read morethis area just not at this BW. My room was enormous (see the photo). It turned out to be a real suite. A "suite" in most hotels just means the one room is a little larger. Here the main room was as big as a usual hotel room. The bedroom was actually in an entirely separate room (with a door) from the sitting/desk/front room. There was a TV in each room. It was almost too much spaciousness for just little ol' me! The sheets and towels were clean and fresh. The A/C was noisy but it worked very well. They only replace the towels every third day, or if you ask specifically for some. The whole hotel was clean and fresh. The lobby and hallways were well kept. The staff were friendly and cheerful. The breakfast area was spotless. When I ate in there, the staff were obviously taking great pride in the service and the food. The breakfast fare was the usual stuff you find in every hotel. The coffee was decent. Thumbs up to the ladies on the breakfast staff! I haven't stayed at a BW hotel in years, but after this trip I will consider them more often. This particular hotel has become my first consideration whenever I come back here. Thanks!

We really enjoyed our one night stay at this Best Western. Everyone was friendly…read more We had a king room that was large and had everything we needed. The bed was comfortable. There was desk space, a chair, and nightstands on both sides of the bed. The bathroom, while refurbished with nice flooring and granite countertop, had seen better days. The tub shower was rather slippery. I loved that all of the toiletries were in pumps or squeeze bottle dispensers. On the night of our arrival, we were surprised to be offered a free carry-out dinner of Salisbury steak, potatoes, and a roll. Breakfast was far better than most of the hotels on our 18-day road trip. We appreciated the good selection and clean (but small) breakfast room. The only thing that was bothersome during this stay was the freezing cold hallway outside our 3rd floor room.

It's been a few years and I have to say, it's not the same Courtyard by Marriott it used to be. It's gone downhill... I'm not sure if COVID caused staff shortages resulting in the lowering of standards, but one thing is sure: their standards have gone down a lot. Upon entering our room, we immediately noticed that the bedsheets weren't tucked in all the way, sheets hanging on the sides, put together in a rush, a job half finished - kinda like how I would lazily make a bed at home, definitely not the professional standard. Walls, doors and surfaces are stained or scraped in many places, as if this were an old hotel in dire need of renovations. Except this hotel isn't even that old... The couch has mysterious white stains all over it - is it paint? Something else? Do I even want to know?? The chair has a large brown stain on it too. And the towels... Well one of the "clean" towels came with a big yellow spot on it - the photo doesn't do it justice, it's actually bright yellow. I'm pretty sure it's pee. I mean, what else could it be?? The lady at the front desk seemed tired and was a bit sharp. You could tell she was likely not having a good day, and seeing how poorly this hotel is maintained, I can only imagine the challenges staff are left to deal with. Management dropped the ball big time with this hotel. This isn't worth to be called a Marriott anymore. And because of its dramatically lowered standards of cleanliness, this hotel does not deserve its stars. I'm giving this hotel 2 stars only because the front staff look like they deserve a break. Will not be staying here again in the future unless Marriott gets their stuff together.
