We'd already gotten our son and dogs settled in for our stay at the Colby, Kansas Motel6 when we started to notice that our room was more than just weird. We understand that this is a no frills hotel but this room was beyond that. I am attaching pictures of the missing smoke detector, weird plywood patch job for the missing door, the disgusting bathroom fan, the bed frame that bashed my husband's shin, and the condom stash we found. I did not address this with the manager because this level of terrible indicated to me it would be useless. read more

The good: The best priced motel in town. Rooms newly renovated. Nice staff. Fluffy pillows. Guest paid coin washer and dryer. Free wifi. Two entrances into the rooms, one from parking lot the other from inside hallway. Clean bathroom. The bad: No breakfast. No carpet. Window screens ragged and ripped. The ugly: Stayed one night, in the morning a rat came from under the bed. After running around for a while, it ran back out under the door leading into the inside hallway. The staff said another guest told them they saw it running down the hall. I'm a business travler. I stay in motels a lot first time I've ever seen a rat in my room! read more

What bothered me most about the place was that they didn't have the AC on in the hallway or rooms so it allowed the place to have a musky smell, but hey, it's a motel 6. What do you expect. The people at the desk were helpful, though. We had some stuff that needed refrigerating and some cooler packs and they were willing to keep it in their fridge. read more

High points: Friendly enough staff Plenty of Parking Free wifi Dog friendly Close to food Meh point: This place reeks of smoke. Even the nonsmoking rooms have a twinge. They keep the AC off, so there's no air circulation and it reeks. No elevator, which doesn't really matter for me since my legs work fine. Low points: Towels feel like brillow pads - this must be a Motel 6 thing. Good water pressure, but the shower severely changed temperatures in the middle of the shower - way too sensitive. The cost for the room was only about $65 with tax. We're moving across the country with our dog, so this place really fit our needs great. If you're passing through it's a fine place to sleep for a few hours, hell we slept way late, until 10AM. read more

Poorest Hotel experience I have ever had. Flies a problem in room, A/C wouldn't cool down room (it wasn't even that hot out), bed absorbed me like a 1970's water bed, and the internet would not work. The place is in a general state of disrepair. The room was large and reasonably priced at $50. If you do not need A/C, like very soft beds, and do not need the internet for work, it will serve your purpose well. It gets a two star because at least the gentleman at the front desk was accommodating. I asked for a refund, since internet was essential for me, and I received one. read more

One of the 6 relatively inexpensive motels I stayed at on my drive from Miami to Vegas. I was here on Sat, Jun 26, 2017. American Inn on the other side of the interstate was about $17 cheaper but all other motels in this busy stopover on I-70 were much more expensive ($79 and above plus taxes). This was $62.72 inclusive of taxes. Tejas at the counter was very courteous. The room was perfect with doors opening to the outside where I parked and to the indoor corridor. The internet was fast. Room was equipped with fridge and microwave. Everything was solid! Will definitely stay here next time I travel I-70. read more

So it's not a Hilton but I wasn't looking for that. Was here hunting and needed a dog friendly hotel. The rooms are nice, have laminate floors, clean beds, bathrooms and no ODORS of any kind. The lobby is clean and the staff is friendly. So it may not be a 4 star hotel but but we hunters aren't looking for that, we are looking for just what I got here. read more

We bypassed Oakley because of the terrible I mean terrible smell of the whole town. Ended up taking a chance with iffy reviews of this place, we were tired. Glad we did. It was Clean and comfy. Great tv with HBO Nice fake wood floors. Great price $64. Guy at the front desk was friendly and let us check out the room first. So YES. I recommend this place. read more

The wifi didn't work. The front desk guy said they'd send someone up. He demonstrated that his phone was on it, so it was okay. Nobody ever came. There was no shampoo in the room. The man at the desk said, "We're not authorized to put samples in the rooms." I guess this means we shouldn't have had soap either. Motel 6 is 'you get what you pay for,' but we didn't even get that. I am rating this hotel stay 5 stars, not because it was equipped with first rate soaps and shampoos, valet parking, or anything like that, but because, in our world of "you get what you pay for," this hotel did indeed hit the mark. I travel for a living with a team. We stay in a different hotel each week. I have seen my fair share of lodging across the states. The hospitality shown by Mr. Patel at this hotel was terrific. For this, I am grateful. The rooms were well cared for and the accommodations were just fine. No bells or whistles here; one would not expect to go to the spa and grab a massage, but you can enjoy good hospitality and a clean room. I would recommend a stay here if you are looking for the best, affordable, clean, quick accommodations in the middle of Colby, Kansas. This is not a vacation hotel. read more

Worse hotel that I have been to in a long time. Dirty towels in the shower room. Looked like someone used them to change the oil in there car. Windows were broken. Complained because I got ice and said that the machine was broken. If at all possible stay somewhere else. read more

This place is great for a budget stay. Fridge, microwave and large TV in the room. Very clean and newly renovated. The staff was also very nice. It's still a Motel 6, but certainly not the rat hole I normally expect. There was no hair dryer in the room, but the front desk did have one and was very accommodating. Minor complaints only, not worthy of mentioning. Four star primarily because it is still just a clean Motel 6. Would recommend for a short stay. read more

Accommodating staff, good price for a large clean room, wifi works well, AC unit works and is not too loud. For a $50 Motel 6 this is a good deal, food and gas stations very close by. read more

There isn't an elevator but for us it's no big deal- the second floor seemed to be non smoking but the whole hallway smelled like cigarettes so that was gross. Also, the floors were dirty, and the beds weren't comfortable. When you need a place to lay your head for a few hours it's fine. But I wouldn't recommend it per say read more

The bed was super comfortable--I like a softer bed than most motels have so I was happy. I had a fridge and microwave in my room which looked new so perhaps they have been remodeling. Room had no carpet--wood veneer. I liked that because motel carpets are gross. Window air looked new but still a bit loud but that's how window air units are. Room was clean, wifi worked great. This town sucks so just keep driving. This hotel was dirty. Smelled like smoke. The window unit didn't work. It was cooler outside then in the room so we opened the window. I hope to never drive through here again. The reason I gave them two stars was at least they allow two free pets that was the only plus. read more

This is the most crappy hotel I stayed in my life. The bedsheets and pillows were dusty. Room had a bad smell, bathroom shower tap didn't work properly and wash basin had a bad tap too. Over all too bad experience. If you really wanna have at least basic comfort, spend some extra dollars and go for better hotels, at least they will be value for money and you can have a comfortable sleep before your next day for your trip. This was the beginning of a 9 day road trip, and thankfully, was the worst the experience got. The beds were like plywood. The rooms were the bare minimum for a hotel room: bed, bathroom, tv. No fridge, no microwave. There isn't an elevator, so we carried our bags upstairs. This wasn't as big of a problem as the room. It was literally a joke for the rest of the trip. Everything else seemed great in comparison to be great, even if it really wasn't. We will never, ever stay here again. There are better places in Colby to stay. read more

My accountant says I was cheated. This Motel 6 charged me over 12% taxes when the Motel 6 website says it should be 9.5%.

The hotel wasn't the best. There are much better hotels just up the road in Oakley, KS for a few bucks less. The air conditioning unit (wall unit) didn't keep the room cool. The power outlet near the table didn't work. The outside door didn't close properly. and there were dead cockroaches on the floor behind the fridge (the only place available to plug anything in) read more

This place is a mess. Air conditioning didn't work, went to call the desk, but the phone didn't work either. We tried to wipe up after ourselves and were wiping up little black hairs, plus a long hair in the sink. Smelly Rooms. Went downstairs to let desk know, and she couldn't have cared less, said someone would come up and nobody came. Went down again and a different guy was there and send someone up and we switched rooms, but not until the guy argued with us, saying that the air conditioner did work and that if we turn it down the coils they will freeze... New room, was cool, but the TV didn't work. WiFi was good and open/easy, but I didn't use it for more than just a quick surf/email check... Floors are laminate, so no walking barefoot, and I'm sure that the people downstairs are not loving it... Strange guys hanging out (sitting, standing around) in the hallway. Now, I realize that for the price, it may be the best value, but I would probably spend a few more dollars, if possible, for something a little nicer, if I'm already shelling out for a hotel. read more
