The hotel was clean, but what really sets it apart is the staff. I cannot express enough gratitude for their kindness and for going Above and beyond. When a medical emergency occurred they jumped into action getting help. I firmly believe they saved a life that night. I've stayed here twice while passing through Kansas. It is an excellent property. I would expect much less given the price and star rating. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. The staff is always very friendly and accommodating. They are pet friendly and have been able to get me on the first floor near a door no problem. Breakfast is great with lots of options. There is a restaurant connected that's pretty good and you don't even have to walk outside to brave the cold. Only weird thing is there is no grass so dogs have to go to the bathroom on rocks. Colby Motel 6 in Colby, Kansas is not a cheap motel I would return. Service clerk was nasty. Promotions were not honored. Rooms were small. Lock was hard to open the door. False advertising on Hotel Coupon Guide was not honored. Lying on advertising is a no no in my book. Super 8 Motel at least offers breakfast and a pool. read more

Not worth the cost in my opinion. One of the main reasons we booked here was because they advertised a functioning pool, and after a long day of driving, nothing sounded better than relaxing in the pool. Well it's closed for construction. No notice about it or anything. The water pressure is non existent when rooms around you flush their toilets. The rooms are very warm and while you do have the option to change the thermostat, the curtain valance blocks a majority of that airflow. We shall see how breakfast goes in the morning, but honestly wish we'd have stayed somewhere else. read more

From a local family of Kansas and Missouri, do not stay here, management - Richard - is unreasonable with fees and charges, not worth it, plenty of other places to stay in western Kansas. I've been up and down the I-70 quite a few times and there are some long, LONG stretches between places to stay. After a tiring day's drive, I decided on this Comfort Inn near Colby and hoped for the best. It turned out to be an outstanding find, right off the freeway, and with several places to eat (and a Starbucks) within a short walking distance. The facility is very clean, very well maintained, and staffed with the friendliest, most helpful people (talking about you, Virginia!) you'll meet. My room was spacious, quiet, and comfortable. Next time I'm on the I-70, I'll be sure to make my Kansas stopover here. read more

I drove into this hotel at 3am and left at 9am. I was traveling from Oklahoma to Idaho. 1. The shower did not work. 2. The bathtub did not work because there was no plug. 3. Beatles are everywhere for some reason. 4. I was double charged by the concierge. 5. The concierge was sleeping in the break room laying on a table when we arrived. 6. When I called to report my card was double charged, they said sorry and they'll credit my account back. They charged me a third time! 7. I haven't been able to get through on their corporate line either. 1-800-300-8800. They hung up on me when I called to report this because I was VERY angry. I had to call 4 times and it's still not resolved. Each time some new person answers out of country with an attitude. 8. Now trying to call back, the system hangs up on me saying their system is being upgraded. It's 9:00am on Wednesday. 9. Worst customer service I've ever encountered at a hotel. If I could leave zero stars I would. Not only was the reception rude upon arrival. The first room was smoke filled and dirty, requested a new room. The fridge/freezer who knows when that was last cleaned with red stuff in it, BUT the best part was when I found out the next morning that the door didn't work. I locked all locks upon entry, thinking that with dead bolt and lock on the door, it would be locked, I came in around midnight from driving from Louisiana. When I woke up I noticed my door was open a little. I grabbed the handle and the door opened completely. I then accessed the entry from the outside without a key. Upon exiting I told the person at the front desk who finally decided to show up 30min after ringing the bell, both my travel mate and I had been waiting. No refund. No nothing! This place is such trash! Also! No toilet paper, not cleaned, the vanity was disgusting but this was our Second room .. read more

Have stayed here several times on our way to Colorado and have never had any problems. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Room has always been clean. The gym door requires a special key card but the equipment is in good condition. I will say that the pool did look a little cloudy but I don't swim so it didn't matter to me. read more

Great oasis in the middle of a long drive through the plains. Nice beds , even though the bathrooms are (by necessity) a bit on the cramped side. Great breakfast buffet. Somewhat limited selection, but does what they do well. Nice restaurant on premises, somewhat high end with bar in front, but not snobby. Nice pool and hot tub. Also a convenient truck stop next door for any late night/ early morning munchies and gas / fuel needs. read more

I hate motels and usually stay in a vacation rental or B&B but when you're on the road and the highway gets shut down by a dust storm you have to find a place to stay. How I lucked on this great motel I'll never know but it was very nice. Great beds, clean, nice sized room with good wifi, great bathroom and...in the morning the free breakfast was actually edible. Plus the staff were very friendly. I don't know what's going on in Colby but they need to bottle it. read more

The rooms are clean and spacious. Ice machine happened to be in need of repair while I was here for a conference. Had a trickle of water in my sink, told the front desk and it was repaired right away. Did ask to add a day to my stay and was told it wouldn't qualify for the conference rate, thought that was pretty petty. read more

Great place to stay with kids who have been on the road too long!!! For the adults, its refreshingly clean, nicely updated, very quiet, and includes a breakfast with real scrambled eggs and bacon! The staff are friendly and helpful - a pleasure to deal with. Even better, it has a indoor pool and hot tub and right behind it is a cool truck stop with a Starbucks, several other food places and a fenced, newer playground/picnic area. Our only complaint is that the shower head was noisy, which really isn't even a big deal. We highly recommend and will totally stay here again if in the area! Thank you, comfort inn. read more

All the amenities are fine, and the room was clean, but the room's heating/cooling system is extremely noisy! Even if you turn your own off, you can still hear the one from the rooms next door and above! It was quite distracting, and made it tough to sleep through, which sort of defeats the purpose of a hotel... Furthermore, when I went to take a shower in the morning I found that the shower head came up to about my chest! Now, I'm 6'2" which I suppose is a bit tall, but I have a hard time believing that even a person of "normal" height could take a comfortable shower here. If you can avoid staying here do! This place is over priced and shabby. Was charged $30. For a non-pet room " was told that they will have to steam clean the carpet because it is a non pet room" really? We have been on the road for 85 days and have seen how a pet room is cleaned. It's done with just spraying a deodorizing spray on the carpet. Also you can tell the room was once a smoking room, you open the door and get that stale smoke smell. Unfortunately it's the time of year when they are full most every night so their attitude is one of I really don't care. If they give you room 202 be prepared to listen to the automatic doors at the entrance opening and closing from this room as it is right over them. read more

Did not love our stay here. We were in town overnight with family. Husband made reservations for a king room. When we got there, they gave us a double, and when my husband called to inquire about whether or not we could switch, we were told no. Later found out they did have a king available. The front desk clerk was not helpful. The only ice was on the first floor near the front desk. It wasn't a big deal for us, but combine that with the fact that there were no elevators, and it could be very difficult for those who require such accommodations. The hot water in the sink turned way down when a person in a different room used the shower. Oh - and the wifi: we were told nothing about the wifi when we checked in. When I logged into the guest wifi, it just kept telling me that I wasn't connected to the internet, but the wifi was connected. I took a chance and went to the Comfort Inn website, where I was then allowed to accept the terms and conditions of accessing their wifi, and then it worked. Not a big deal, and easily enough figured out, but it would've been helpful if we had been told. Now for the good: Breakfast was offered in the morning, and it was pretty darn good for a hotel breakfast. The location was very good - just off the interstate - and it's right next door to a large truck stop - The Oasis - that is very clean and has a Starbucks, among a couple of other decent chain fast food type places if you're in a hurry. All in all, we probably wouldn't choose to stay here again if we ever return to Colby. read more

I paid less than $100 for a room that was easily worth $200. There was a bar/grill restaurant onsite, a clean 24hr pool/Jacuzzi. A very good breakfast by hotel standards with real eggs. A village inn restaurant in the same parking lot with a burger so good, I could have just eaten the patties by themselves and been happy. They also had a truckstop behind them with a quiznos, quadoba and a starbucks I think. From what I understand, the same owner owns and it and then some. I wish I could have met him and shook his hand. What a first class place that had obviously been recently renovated. Will plan my trips again just to pass through Colby and stay there. read more

Nice motel. But there was a wedding party in hotel the night I stayed. And they had no respect for the other guests. Rude people. But the front desk gal got after them on several occasions. And they just thougt cause they was with a wedding party they could do what they wanted. So in short if you stay here make sure there is no wedding party booked. It may be a sleepless night. Disappointed. Picked the hotel specifically for the pool/hot tub combo. After spending two weeks in the Colorado mountains and 9 hours on the road, we were ready for a nice hot shower and some swimming. I had plans to hang out in the hot tub while the kids swam just feet from me...well, the hot tub was broken and the pool was GROSS. It was very very cloudy, didn't smell like chlorine AT ALL. The kids were so set to swim and I already had us all in our suits, so I opted for a few quick minutes followed by another shower...but I called it when some long floating wad of something slid along my leg. It looked like maybe a big long wad of hair...that's what I'm telling myself anyway. The room was alright, the shower was hot. I slept well. Then for breakfast, we headed to the free hot breakfast we were promised, only to find that our key card wouldn't work to get in (yes, they had the free breakfast behind lockable doors). When someone let us in, we assumed our key card was just being finicky...turns out, they had locked the room prior to the posted time. We started to get our food, and about 10 minutes in, the woman working the breakfast was rushing everyone out telling us the breakfast was closed. She began packing everything up with about 15 or so people still at a table eating and others still making plates. I literally made a waffle and went to butter it, then came back for syrup and it was gone (packed up). She made a comment about just trying to get to church on time, which I respect, but it seems to me that maybe she shouldn't be in charge of the Sunday morning breakfast bar if she needs to get out of there by a certain time. We are diamond status rewards members and love the comfort inn chain. Traveling over 900 miles one way, I had many choices in hotels to stop at for our one night stay along the trip. I am more than disappointed that my choice fell so short of my expectations (and so short of what the hotel claimed to offer as far as amenities: pool, hot tub, breakfast) read more
