This place has what every road-trip hotel should have: it exists, it's clean, and it doesn't smell weird. Check, check, and check. It's conveniently located right off the highway, so no dramatic detours or late-night panic while wondering if Google Maps is gaslighting you. The bed was comfortable. No bugs, no mystery bites the next day--always a win. No weird smells, no suspicious stains, no horror movie vibes. Just a solid, straightforward stay that let us rest, recharge, and hit the road again without needing a tetanus shot. 3.5 stars, which is saying a lot for a roadside stop as far as I'm concerned. read more

Overall, a good place to stay in Colby. The room was clean, the staff was friendly, and the breakfast wasn't all that bad when compared to other Hampton Inn breakfasts. Also, it's not too far from local restaurants in town and easy access to the interstate. Nothing special but wish they had some chairs to sit on outside. read more

Generally Hampton Inn's are comfortable places to stay when traveling cross country. You generally know what to expect and you get that. Not here. While the room was comfortable enough, everything else was below expectations. The bathroom sink took several hours to drain. Standing water was common. The shower did not drain well either. In the room, all but one of the electrical sockets had a cover plate over them. I found the one remaining plug behind the TV and dresser, which I had to physically move in order to plug my laptop in. That also meant moving the desk. The hotel staff was not very friendly and when I pointed out the areas needing maintenance, got a curt response, we will take it for action. If you visit Colby, my advise is try one of the other motels/hotels. read more

Last Thursday I packed up my car along with my two year old, my cousin, and my cousin's three year old, to embark on a road trip from Kansas City to Colorado Springs, CO. It's a familiar journey to our family and while we are accustomed to the fatigue of driving across the great plains of Kansas, we are not as comfortable when that is coupled with a winter storm in the most remote part of the journey. The answer to our icy disruption came in finding refuge at this Hampton Inn. I want to start off by saying that this Hampton Inn location has five star staff and hospitality. They were warm and welcoming to the four of us, especially given that we made a reservation just 30 minutes prior to rolling in. We were given complimentary water, and there were cookies available to our weary toddlers. I will also add here that the kids had THE MOST fun playing in the room, and they would likely ask to return any day of the week. The reason we are in three star territory is simply because this location is not really even in the running for what I would consider a great Hampton Inn. I've had really great experiences at this chain, but this location feels like it is in need of some TLC. The rooms are very small, which would be overlooked if not for how paper thin the walls are (we could hear everyone walking down the hall, all doors opening etc.) and there literally was a hole in our bathroom door. This all being said, the beds were clean and we felt safe from the raging storm outside our window so while grateful for this hotel, it wasn't my favorite hotel pit-stop. Would I stay here again? Maybe, if I found myself in a similar situation. Like I said it wasn't bad, it just wasn't amazing. I hope Hampton Inn takes note of some of the updates this location needs and gives the staff the resources needed to make that happen for them! read more

We checked in exhausted from an all day drive. No King Beds?? What the heck I thought everyone slept in King size beds. My husband and I are tall people and like to sleep together. I don't understand why some hotels only have a Queen bed. Upon arrival and obtaining a luggage cart we discovered it was covered in white dog hair, we like pets and have a dog, but who wants other folks dog hair all over your luggage?? No one does. The hotel floor and elevator was filthy dirty the day we checked in at 3:00 pm and when we checked out the next day. Maybe they need a new vacuum? The cracks stepping into the elevator looked like they had never ever been cleaned. Our room had crumbs all along the floor in front of the dresser. Front entrance glass really needed clean. This is a first impression for your facility. The older lady at the desk when we checked out Sunday morning was rude and un accommodating. I did not get a thankful feeling like one should upon checkout. Without customers she would not have a position. We expect better for a Hampton. We will try not to stay here again until they clean house. We travel I-70 frequently but will pass on this one until changes take place. read more

We stayed one night while on the road. The hotel room was nice & fairly clean and quiet, but the towels were old & thin. The pool area was dirty & the whirlpool just lukewarm & my husband stepped on glass that became embedded in his foot. I brought this to the attention of the front desk staff & their response was "do you want me call for help?" Ah,no, I want the pool room closed until it is safe. Covid is still on my mind and we stayed here last week on the way to Colorado and wiped the door handles and the room down before we brought our suitcases into the he room. Coming back this way tonight and we still wiped everything down but I will say the hospitality staff had this room spotless and used Hilton's new safety stickers and I have to say we felt safe! We generally like staying at Hampton Inn because it has a good reputation. This one not so much. First off, the trash cans outside were exploding so not a good first impression. The staff was ok but not overly attentive or friendly. The double queen room was small as was the bathroom. There were several light bulbs that were burnt out. The showerhead needed cleaning or replacement as it had several wild sprays. The heat, not the fan, was so incredibly noisy that we had to turn it off at night (in the cold of January). The breakfast was meh - watery oatmeal and scrambled eggs. One unusual touch was smoothies. The rest was the typical cereal, waffles and other sweet treats. The coffee was lukewarm and weak (the bold one). It's also a bit noisy as the hotel is sandwiched between a Pilot gas station and I-70. We will opt for a different hotel when passing through this area. BTW - there are no decent restaurants near by. read more

Though the rooms are clean. They are extremely small and packed with furniture. Also amenitie availability changes on multiple times during the day. OK for a quick overnight. But not for an extended period of time. When I checked in the 3 rd floor was unavailable no explanation given. They were only checking in guests to the first or second floor only. read more

If you're leaving Witchita after a late lunch, Denver is not exactly a safe bet. Enter Colby, KS-- population: the same as my block in Manhattan. What is a safe bet is Hampton Inn. Interiors are fairly modern, rooms are clean, and breakfast has a few edible offerings, and this place was no different. Why I gave a fourth star however, was for the workout room. No, it was nothing crazy, but the machines were new, plenty of space--probably the one of the newest workout rooms in all of Colby. read more

Ok, first the two minor "issues". Showerhead leaked. It was annoying to listen to, but i closed the door and problem was solved! Pool was not clean. There was a pile of dirt that had settled on the floor in the deep section. Other than that, this place was great. Staff was friendly. Items in room were operable and clean. The room was clean!!! This is a pretty nice hotel. It looks like everything is up to date and super new/maintained. The only issue I had was I found a hair in my shower and the halls were super hot. Other than that we had a great stay and will stay here in the future. I would have liked to see a bigger dining area as when we went for breakfast it was hard to find some place to sit. Okay, so this is a pretty normal Hampton out on the lonely prairie. I usually trust most Hilton units, although that philosophy has failed in the past. I had no problem checking in and the room was fine and very typical of a Hampton Inn. Because I was on the road and running way behind I thought I would partake of the free breakfast in the morning. Very frustrating. The nice lady that was running the kitchen was totally incompetent. She could not keep up with the demand of the biscuits or any of the other hot food items being served that morning. The apple juice was watered down and gross. When she finally did get more biscuits out the insides was frozen. There were not that many people, I'm not sure why she couldn't handle the business. Excellent service from the time we checked in to our takeaway breakfast in the morning. Our family felt safe during Covid with breakfast service being managed by a very kind woman who helped us find meals we would all enjoy (jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches, muffins, fruit, yogurt, etc). I expect high quality from Hilton. As a rewards member I expect good service. After a long day, all we could think about was sitting in the spa. Finally unpacked and went to the pool area only to find the spa wasn't working. When we mentioned it to the staff, we were told, "Sorry about that." And when I woke up with swollen eyes from swimming in the cloudy pool water and told the desk clerk about it, she said, "Oh, sorry about that." Not to mention the extremely loud raucous kids in the pool...and I get the pool is for everyone. I expect kids to play in the pool, but this was over the top and it was not monitored. Unacceptable!! We are paying for Hilton! Lack of facilities and having a bad reaction to the unsanitary pool water was taken so casually. Disappointed there was no refrigerator or microwave oven in our room. Other Hampton Inns we've stayed at did. Shower water trickled out...ugh Loved The lighting in our room. Would have really appreciated sheer curtains so that we didn't have to utilize the blackout blinds ...up and down ... darkening the entire room for privacy. Good news was Kylie, who checked us in...marvelous! Friendly, efficient, and welcoming. We really appreciated that. Thank you. Continental Breakfast was good...nice selection, well-stocked. Enjoyed the omelet presentation, the mAple-smoked sausage, and even the oatmeal add-ins of berries and almonds. The "fresh fruit" was abominable...flavorless. I think you can do a lot better and offer more than a sorry for not providing what was offered and finding it acceptable to keep a dirty pool open!! read more

All of the staff was warm and friendly (late check in, housekeeping, kitchen, and checkout). Our room was very clean and comfortable. Yes- there are a few scratches on the vanities etc. but I thought it was very well maintained. I appreciated the extra toiletries like the makeup remover wipes and mouthwash. There were a wide variety of items at breakfast and the area was well stocked. My daughter loved the mango smoothie! We would stay here again. read more

OK, I didn't seek this out originally. The RV began dying a slow death as it passed over the 11,000 foot mark headed east through Colorado. Somewhere just past the Kansas state line, it went into "limp home mode" one mile east of the Hampton. It was great to see a familiar hotel brand sign after dark. We became fast buddies. Clean, quiet room, courteous staff, and a pool and fitness center, including extra long parking spots for RV's, including mine. If the timing of your trip along I-70 is such that you need to be farther east than Denver, or farther west than KC, then this is a really good option. If your RV dies near here, an even better option. read more

Would not stay here again. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Place had a nice decor however, some things can't be overlooked. For instance the room was dusty and dirty. On multiple occasions we witnessed housekeeping crew placing clean towels on the floor while they stocked the cart. The sheets gave me a rash, my fiancé who is extremely hygienic and showers three times a day has a small ringworm from our stay. The hotel serves breakfast which is complimentary, however I would stay on the safe side and eat a waffle or cereals. We expected more from a Hilton property, next time we are thinking of staying at the holiday inn or saving half the money per night and staying at the motel 6. read more

Wonderful night's sleep after LONG day on the road. This Hampton Inn was clean, it had a modern updated decor, free wi-fi, and a ultra comfortable bed with plenty of pillows! The best part however was the free hot breakfast! The food was plentiful and it had a decent variety. Eggs, sausage, hot and cold cereal, pastries, bagels, and toast. My husband and I stayed here for the night while heading on a road trip north. The facility was very nice and clean, and the same could be said for our room as well. The breakfast was good and freshly prepared. My two main complaints were that we were put into a very small room, which felt cramped even with just the two of us staying there. Room's A/C was wonky- either frigid while set at 69 or stifling hot at 70. Woke up at 3am sweating. The included breakfast was MEH. French toast sticks tasted like they were grilled the day prior. "It's free" is not a valid argument- you pay for it all the same. Hotel staff was unresponsive. Will NOT return unless it was an emergency. Inconsistent with other Hampton Inn locations where my experience was more pleasant. read more
