Third room , no lightbulb in one lamp

Spent atleast $105 - 120 each time I came here as weekend rates make price go up. I stayed a total of four times here & never had any issues until tonight. Sooo tonight ... first room , small not like the others (all with a king bed) and tv didn't work. Requested a new room. Next room had no bathroom light , was incredibly dark not even manageable to try and shower in then saw a bug was on the wall dead & someone's bag of clothes was in the closet AND there was trash in the bin... ok so next room (3rd room I got has NO LIGHTBULBS in BOTH of the lamps by beds .... Went into the bathroom and it's super dusty on the ceiling fan... a ton of build up and and then there's black mold on a tile above the shower. Absolutely disgusting. Mind you I'm 8 months pregnant. This is my last time staying here. I'll pay the couple extra dollars to stay somewhere else next time. Idk how hard it is to CLEAN UP or give rooms light, OR change out ceiling tile with black mold.

The front desk staff were so kind and accommodating to our requests, and very thoughtful towards my 2.5 year old, bringing her crayons and coloring sheets, and chatting with her. I also saw the same respect extended to other guests. I haven't seen this level of attentiveness, kindness and professionalism in many hotels, so it definitely stood out. We also enjoyed the outdoor pool and used the grill, which was easy to reserve. They had all the tools needed for the grill and we were allotted two hours, but since it was the last reservation of the day, we were able to stay a little longer. Overall, it was a lovely experience because of the staff and we would certainly visit again.

They even opened it early for us which was greatly appreciated. 2. The suites were pretty spacious. It was easy to move around. There was also a lot of space to put our things and keep everything organized 3. I didn't go in the pool but it looked really nice. The patio area is also great for cookouts. Where they need improvement: 1. There was sand in my sheets. It was obvious the staff did not change not the sheets after the last guests. 2. The layout was a little tough to navigate. I get the appeal but I was with a large group of blind people who had a hard time finding their rooms. 3. The vanity light stopped working. It worked the first night but didn't work after that.

I had 5 or 6 drinks and it was like juice. I felt nothing. I heard the same from multiple Guests. We did have an issue with my husband being charged for a room when he should not have but it was corrected pretty quickly. My wedding guests liked the food for the most part. I would not recommend the risotto. That was not risotto. I'm not sure why they'd serve that and say it's risotto. I hired my own day of coordinator and they did an excellent job. I didn't see the venue's Maitre d until I was lining up for my ceremony and then did not see him again. That was surprising to me. I got one email a week before my event where I said I was not bringing any decor and I heard nothing else. So I'd definitely recommend future brides to hire your own DOC. I'm pretty sure our brochure mentioned a breakfast for the bride and groom the morning after the wedding and we didn't get that either. If you bring welcome boxes or gifts, you need to ask for them back. We had about 6 boxes full of snacks that were left over and I had to ask for them when I checked out.

We checked in and out room had hair in the bed, sticky substances on the night stand, mold in the shower, drawings on the wall, dirt all over the floor. We brought up the issue to the lady at check in and she moved us to another room that did look much better, but there was still hair in the bed. The room smelled like smoke, and in our NON smoking room there were cigarette burns in the blanket and the chair in the room. We slept there one of our 5 and immediately checked out in the morning to find a new hotel. They did refund us after many calls with Expedia and the hotel.

I ended up here at the Crystal Inn because I could get a room under $200 a night. Upon checking in (hint: check in online instead of walking in to save a few more pennies), the young man who greeted me behind the plexiglass was pleasant and polite. The room was clean. The shower was awesome, and the water pressure was strong. The beds are not the softest, but we had a good night's sleep, and the beds are bug free. The TV was large and there was a mini fridge and microwave in the room. Rooms open to the pool area, which has plenty of lounge chairs. The water was crystal clear, and the pool was very well maintained. All in all, well worth the price, especially for the NJ shore area in the summertime!!

However, it didn't take much to outshine the Embassy Suites that I had just left in Richmond, Virginia, to impress me. When I arrived at this hotel, the manager went above and beyond to work with me since I am Deaf. He pulled out a notepad and wrote the specifics about the hotel and the surrounding area. Also, I couldn't help but notice the exit signs were like they were over in Europe and Canada, which I prefer. They're green with a figure walking. If you get the opportunity to stay here, you'll notice them. Also, the rooms were more like small apartments, not in the Embassy Suites style or TownePlace Suites by Marriott or any other chain. They were very unique. I noticed they didn't have any pans to cook with, which was a downside; still, I can easily handle that. The bed was firm but not a rock. I sleep great all night. They offered bathrobes for guests, which were hanging in the bathroom. Most importantly, I took my black light to the entire room, and I didn't stumble across some disgusting stain for once. I would stay here again. I hope Best Western keeps thinking about RIO because I need another hotel option after the massive debacle in Richmond, VA. Please see my other review for that hotel hell. On a side note, the day I was leaving an entire hockey team from Canada was arriving to stay here. It was pretty cool seeing them packing all their gear.

This place is a shoddy renovation of a Red Roof Inn with serious issues. First issue was continuous fire alarms. which I've never seen in a hotel before. The first room they gave me reeked of damp and mold. Bubbling paint around the AC looked like hidden mold -- confirmed by a maintenance worker before he backtracked with an offensive, racist comment blaming the smell on "Indian people" who stay here. I reported it immediately. They moved me to a second room that had an overpowering cigarette stench. The final room was just barely acceptable -- and that's being generous. They have a button to press for room service, but room service never comes, so you have to beg them for things like towels because if you tell the front desk, they'll just forget or not care. The front desk was chaotic and unhelpful, but did acknowledge maintenance comments as unprofessional. I had to request a room change multiple times. In the process, I accidentally left my AirPods on the counter because I was up there so often. They "lost" them, "found" them, and "lost" them again. Now they claim to have them, but given how this place operates, I wouldn't be shocked if they disappear as retaliation for this review. The manager told me over the phone earlier that he was going to donate them Even as a Diamond Select member, they refused my late check-out benefit until I had to reinforce the point that this is a Best Western hotel with a status system which the higher tiers allow late check out after which I was begrudgingly granted a late checkout. When I asked the manager for just one night credited back from my 10-day stay after all the trouble, he never got back to me, then on the follow-up, he hung up on me. Between the mold, cigarette smell, offensive comments from staff, unprofessional management, mishandling of personal belongings, and refusal to honor loyalty benefits, this hotel is a total disaster. Do yourself a favor -- book somewhere else. The Holiday Inn Express in Neptune is great, especially if you have the Chase IHG card.
