Stayed at this motel for the very first time this last week. I have been visiting point Pleasant Beach since I was a baby and was extremely impressed by this motel and the staff. The owner is very personable and involved in the operation, which really makes a difference in the quality that you experience at this property. Not only are the rooms meticulous, but the entire grounds are spotless. The staff was very helpful. I will be going back to this motel before the summer ends and it will be my go to Spot moving forward. Very disappointed in this motel. it's too expensive for a stay that isn't even 24 hours. There are two double beds in a room but would not allow a third person to stay because ithey only allow one adult per bed. The desk person was very rude when asked why a 3rd person (adult) could not stay in the room and basically asked if we wanted to go elsewhere. I would never stay here again! read more

I came here once and the other guests are so loud and rude. Also the flies get so bad here because I was stuck in a swarm of flies the entire time I was by the pool. There is no view at all. Noise of the guests next door is LOUD and CLEAR! I can never come back here again. read more

The rooms are spotless so are the grounds. However, the sign upset me because it says something along the lines of ... we love our lawn like you love your dog so keep it clean. Spent 2 nites here w my grandson. On arrival front desk was very efficient and friendly. Our room was also clean and comfortable. The fridge didnt work but i didnt need it. Perhaps i should of informed front desk. The pools hours were 9-9 which was perfect for my grandson he was 1st to pool both days. We didnt spend alot of time in hotel we were at the beach/boardwalk most of the day. On our last day we were allowed to use pool even after checkout they have outdoor rest/change room. I must say this hotel is very well kept,that being said,if you do not like to be constantly eye balled by a Gestapo owner this place is not for you. Just because i checked in with my 2 teenage sons he made us feel very uncomfortable every time we walked out of the room. At night he would walk around the parking lot looking for cigarette butts and loose paper. My neighbor next door received a complaint from the owner because her daughter was dropped off by a friends father at 12:30 am,i guess it is a hotel policy that everyone has to be in bed by 10;00pm. I also observed this man repairing a wooden fence with a cordless drill after dark.I must say i found all of this very amusing. We will not be staying here in the future. read more

Had to leave one star because I couldn't leave less! BEWARE! THIS PLACE IS A SCAM! My family and I stayed there last night and they told us that it was a no smoking hotel so we had to go to the curb. We followed the rules and went across the street so to not be on the property. Standing outside in the rain to smoke. That's fine we were respectful. Then they kicked us out because our dirty clothes smelled like smoke so they said it would permeate the room. They kicked us out and took our 239 dollars for the room today. They said they could have charged us 500 extra dollars for smoking in the room. We did not smoke in the room nor did the room smell like smoke of any kind. This was a scam to steal our money. BEWARE! HARASSED BY OWNER! Our family was looking forward to our first vacation to the ocean in over a decade. We worked hard, saved our money, so that we could treat our six children to a great vaca! I took time to research motels, and was worried about cleanliness and loud parties (as my children are young). The reviews (that I read) SEEMED solid. Clean and "family friendly". Upon arrival we immediately had issues. Richard, the motel owner, stopped us on at least 3 separate occasions demanding we...not allow the children to ride their scooters on the side walk, not to bounce a ball, and not to play music on our phones. Literally our first night, I got zero sleep bc I was SO ANXIOUS about this creep. My gut was spot on. The very next morning, he knocked on our door, and IN FRONT of my young children...said... "Get out! This is MY property and your family is ruining my livelihood." I asked what his exact reasoning was for causing such a scene? His reply was "I don't have to give you a reason. Leave now." I wanted to cry. What were we supposed to do? I had all these kids expecting me to take them to the beach shortly, and now I was left scrambling on where to go! DO NOT BOOK HERE! I felt soooo fooled by not reading closer at the reviews. If you scroll down, you'll see almost 14 other nearly identical reviews from families who were also harassed and kicked out. I was so saddened and frustrated to hear that my blind friends stayed overnight with their seeing eye dogs and received a "friendly" phone call the next day to be told they would be charged an extra cleaning fee. The check in process was awful, they already felt that they were not wanted there when they heard about the seeing eye dogs. My friends had to switch rooms, which they didn't mind but yet they are clearly being penalized for having brought their necessary seeing eye dog. This is not okay, they are not pets, they are seeing guide dogs that provide a service to their blind owners. When my friend brought up this point, the guy on the phone responded by stating "I know about the ADA", and how the room would need to be "brought to life" after the one night that they spent there and proceeded to tell him that it's a friendly phone call and hung up. DO NOT BOOK AT THIS HOTEL. I stayed their 2 nights and the hotel staff used gestapo tactics to enforce rules. I am all for keeping quiet late at night but when a couple of us got together in a room the owner-who is on a major power trip-barged into our room and told this was illegal. When we differed he incredibly called the police on us. WHAT OVERKILL-WHAT A JERK!! Also regarding the bars and restaurants on the boardwalk I fully understand the need for security-"bouncers". However in every bar and restaurant on the boardwalk I was at the plain clothes security personnel showed guns on their waist. Is this really necessary? I gave this a one star due to the way i was spoken to. I decided to spend a weekend down the shore with friends; we are all hard working professionals. The policy is two adult per room; a friend came to visit to drop some belongings to us in our room and immediately I revived a call from management, stating only two adults are permitted in the room and that we were under 24 hour surveillance and if this person stood, the police would be called. A staff member was monitoring us while we were in the room and then followed us as we walked to the Broadway. I never felt profiled before in my life. I will never, NEVER come back to this Motel, no matter how clean a place is; if staff cannot speak to me in a respectful manner; when I never raised my voice and followed their rules/regulations, I cannot rate this motel well. read more

They had 1 room left and I spoke with this woman on the phone who (I thought was) very sweet and kept telling me stories of weddings. I was very busy and I politely told her I was in a rush and asked if I could please book the room. Her response "then call back when you have time" Hung up, did not pick up my other 2 calls. I told him the story of the older women I spoke with the day prior (I said 'older' to differentiate his employees because I just spoke to a younger woman on the phone today) He cuts me off and says. "what does age have to do with it? You're discriminating age, this sounds like a discrimination case". Um...excuse me?!? Then he proceeds to say the 'real' issue is that I should not have been doing '1000 things' while booking. AND..he was going to get a lawyer. Wow. Just Wow. I am completely dumbfounded how he spun this whole situation. It is scary to stay at a place like this where the owner is a complete . . . Major Power Tripping guy and so rude. Maybe it was an off-day for him... I honestly wish places like this would go out of business that treat potential customers so inconsiderately. Stayed here a couple of weekends ago for a wedding and I would definitely stay here again. Like others have said they have rules. Its not a bad thing in my opinion, because their motel was clean, safe and comfortable! The staff was very helpful, recommending restaurants, local attractions and directions. Spent a lot of time just chit chatting with me and my wife. Had a iron, blow dryer, plates, plastic silverware all behind the desk and ready to go if you need it. The room was very comfortable, the bed was great, shower a bit on the small side, I'm 6' and the nozzle was about at my chin. The TV is a little tiny for watching it from the bed, but they have a ton a channels and didn't miss any playoff hockey. I imagine you aren't there to watch TV during the true beach season. It was a little loud, we could hear doors slamming, people yelling, etc. But I don't so much blame the establishment but the idiots who were making the noise. Overall a really nice place to stay, a bit pricey for the beginning of May, but I don't mind paying a bit more for a clean place that is really comfy and full of friendly people. read more

RACIST OWNERS RICHARD AND KIM!!!! DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME BOOKING! Seemed like a decent place to book, which ended up being the WORST EXPERIENCE EVER at Point Pleasant! I went to check into the hotel and was told they need the IDs for anyone staying there. I told my fiancé and he came in and gave his ID so they could make a copy. While checking in they asked a few times why we came to Point Pleasant, I said for vacation?? I just thought this was weird. The owner Richard was inside and from that point on you could tell he didn't want us to stay there. We received a long list of things we couldn't do, which is literally everythinggg, kids can't ride there bikes or play loud and no music at all or any visitors, and the list goes on and on. Once we got to our car, we wanted to park it closer to the room, the owner followed us out to our car. He knocked on the window and started asking if following these rules would be a problem and that his "livelihood " is at stake. He specifically said if we were to smoke to go on the street, that there was no smoking on the whole premises. I said no problem at all, we were not smoking or showing any signs that we were smokers!! This was an assumption he was making . There was no doubt after looking around we stuck out in this hotel . After telling the owner Richard that there wasn't a problem , he said " I just want you goys to check out " , this was after we just paid the remaining balance for the hotel. Our money wasn't refunded immediately and we NOW HAVE NO HOTEL TO STAY at for the weekend. This motel is exactly what you would expect from a Jersey Shore motel. It's small, simple and beachy. Everything is very clean and it's pretty quiet (stayed here in early May, so not quite beach season). The staff was nice - but there are dozens of rules. I assume the rules are posted everywhere, told to you when you check in, and sent to you via snail mail once you book in order to keep the college kids away during the summer. There is no smoking on the entire property, no guests, and everyone must be 25 years old. That doesn't exactly make sense to me, because they also allow children ... But it is what it is. If you're looking for a very quiet place with an older population, stay here. If you plan to party or hang out with friends, do not. read more

This is a family motel, not a frat house. Its clean, quiet and the pool is immaculate. We have stayed here annually for six years and have found it to be a refreshing change from other beach motels. the surfside is probably one of the best motels to stay at in point pleasant. It is family owned, they do have some rules, but it definitely makes for a pleasant stay. the rooms are clean, the pool is nice and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. i would rather stay somewhere that has some rules and guidelines than in some rat hole. I would recommend this to families, couples or even for a girls get away. We were asked prior to check in by management to switch rooms because another hotel guest was hounding him to have our two bedroom unit. After seeing the room aka Suite we were being switched to, we had no problem doing so! Our unit had a complete kitchen and everything was updated and beautiful. The motel grounds are beautiful and the heated pool was a hit with our 3 year old son and 4 month old daughter. My family will definitely come back again. Clean, cozy and family oriented! dont stay here if you are a tanned american! they r racist beyond belief! the most uncomfortable place to stay. my husband and i attempted to stay the weekend. on the first night our friends gave us a ride to our room to change simply because their car pulled up they called the cops on us. my friends husband got out the car to try and speak to them and the lady shoved him twice and got in my face "we strictly said no visitors get out of here get out im giving you a refund right now!!" they must've have gone through some traumatic experience but this is all very unnecessary. the owners and workers of other hotels around all say the same thing about them , that they are afraid to even step on their property. they are over the top strict. they are uncomfortable to even speak to over the phone. they r always defensive and condescending. they are strange strange people. very uncomfortable. sadly for them my husband and his friend are law enforcement and they have filed simple assault charge on them which we will gladly be back for court soon. disgusting. i encourage everyone to spread the word. read more
