If you haven't visited the Moth Hole recently, or ever, then you are definitely missing out on a great shopping experience! It has recently moved (just a few doors down), and it is better than ever!! The new owner, Lauren (and her husband Steve) have worked so incredibly hard to revamp the store and make it a wonderful place to shop and consign....and it shows! You are always greeted with a warm friendly smile and most times it can be from the owner herself. Not only does she run the business, but you can also spot her taking consignments, manning the register, restocking shelves, etc. Whether you are in your twenties, or your sixties, there is always something that can be found to suit your style. They have amazing designer purses, denim, dresses, shoes, etc. They also have a vast array of jewelry, both simple and elegant to bold and colorful. Love, love, love Moth Hole Consignment. Best costumer service, great selection, excellent prices. After reading other reviews, it seems that some disagree with the pricing of "Used" items and prefer "Thrift store" shopping. I too enjoy thrift stores but when I want a classy, clean shopping experience with current, upscale fashion, I'm getting my fix at this lovely store. Lauren, store owner, has come to know my style, as I'm sure she does with others, and will assist me in finding favorite brands currently in stock. Example: I show up, say I'm in the mood for "Lucky Brand" and she starts pulling cute tops, purses, belts, etc. And off I go with a perfect, like new, Lucky Brand Denim Button Up for $26 ($80 new), J & Company Jeans, like new, for $20, a few other odds and ends and a classy leather bag held on layaway. I've been in this little shopping center plenty of times, but I never knew that this little gem was there. I went to the grand re-opening a little skeptical, I'm used to going to second hand stores and only finding things hat don't fit or don't look good. But Moth Hole really caters to everyone! Not only did I manage to find things to try on in my size, I managed to find things that I want to try on in my size. They even had items that were bigger than my size! I normally avoid consignment shops because they're usually jam-packed with random clothes and accessories, and it's hard to shop in the mess and chaos. But when I walked into Moth Hole I was pleasantly surprised! I started following the shop on IG and, within days of the follow, I was enticed to check them out in person (btw, whoever does their photography for social media is awesome!) I saw a Michael Kors wallet on IG going for $40 and had to have it! I walked in to the cleanest consignment shop I had ever seen. It was more organized than even a Ross or Marshall's. I looked around at the clothing for a bit but was really on a time crunch. Spotted the wallet and was amazed at how clean and NEW it looked! I checked it thoroughly for sunlight fading, lose stitches, inside stains, weird smells, scuff marks, holes, bad zipper, or chips on the zipper pull/front logo. NOTHING. The ONLY sign of previous use was the credit card pockets being slightly stretched but that just made it much easier for me to fit mine in. I can't believe that I got a $140 wallet that looks brand new for $40! I will definitely be back with all my friends. As I was leaving they had some beautiful jewelry pieces that I want to take a closer look at next time. Clean shop, high end merch (Michael, Louie, Chanel oh my!), and excellent prices... Being a local I have shopped at Moth Hole for decades. I feel like recently they have lost sight of who they are, rather than buying unique and posh used items they have succumb to imported China garbage. It's such a bummer. They used to be on the regular rotation to find those killer unique designer finds that started conversation, its now what they think would look good on an Instagram feed and it's just plain bad. This was a thrifters dream. In style thrift clothes mingled in with high end consignment! I love being able to treasure hunt and this was the place. Michael Kors, in with Lucky Brand with some really fashionable no name thrift finds. Tiffany at the store was extremely helpful and fun to shop with. My husband and I stumbled upon the shop and didn't think much of it at first, but so glad we walked in! Great design, amazing merchandise and quality finds! Some of the clothes are new from the rack and others just as cute but finding a second home. As she mentioned in the store some things are $9 while others $109. I was expecting designer goods based on other reviews but I found a lot of Chico's, Lands End, Coldwater Creek, other "mom" brands. Things my mother would wear. There were a lot of mass produced cheap little spaghetti strap tops and dresses, in many sizes. Shoes were well worn.. too damaged and scuffed to buy. Their jean and shorts selection were paltry. Hardly any stock. Disappointing, I wish they curated this place better. It's basically a crossroads or buffalo exchange. I did walk away with a Rebecca Minkoff crossbody and a blue summer dress, so that's ok. But I won't ever be returning. This store is either for teenyboppers or older ladies. Beautiful and immaculate consignment boutique. Lauren is super sweet. She and her staff know exactly what excellent customer service is. I consigned a pair of jeans spur of the moment that I had brought with me and Lauren made the process simple and easy. No separate appointment unlike some places. Another awesome thing that they did for me was putting a pair of shoes on hold that I saw on Instagram and waiting for me to come in the next day. I've been in several times and have bought items on consignment as well as dresses that were new & everything is so beautiful. I finally gave in and made the drive from Elk Grove to Fair Oaks yesterday and it was well worth the time. Adorable store, super nice staff and fair prices for designer consignment items. I've been going to Moth Hole since the 80's and followed them to each location. While it's much smaller now, what's inside is quality and seasonally appropriate. You will find many items with tags or items that are like new along with high end brands and unusual pieces. The store is very organized and it's easy to shop so you don't get tired trying to hunt for things. The gals that work there are so helpful and nice. I love the clothes and purses here! I follow the store on IG and love that Lauren is willing to hold items or allow you to pay on over the phone for something that you're interested in. I was interested in an item she posted and messaged her and in less than 10 minutes I was able to purchase the item and she was mailing it to me that night. My recent trip to Moth Hole was my BEST shopping experience EH-VER! I reached out to Lauren before stopping by to explain my circumstance of being trans/gender-fluid and that I had an appreciation for the AMAZING inventory I experienced when I quickly browsed her store previously. She was SO kind and welcoming in her email response AND when I arrived in her store! She put me at ease and sweetly explained her policy of "everyone is welcome here." Knowing I'm not her typical customer, I was thrilled that Lauren approached me so normally, asked me my price-point, and made some recommendations (numerous really) for me to try from both new and consignment racks. She made it SO fun and relaxed! She was attentive to me as well as her other customers and was completely on point (size, fit, colors,etc) with her recommendations which I greatly needed and appreciated. I could not have felt more comfortable, pretty, feminine, and put-together in the pieces she picked for me. Lauren and her FABULOUSLY stylish mother who also checked on me periodically, were such angels and clearly care for their customers' needs. Having worked in customer service myself for years I can say they are the real deal. How it's taken me this long to write a review is beyond me! This is hands down one of the best clothing stores in town! I stumbled onto moth hole through Instagram and it has been love ever since! I don't have a lot of time and it's really hard for me to spend countless hours in a store trying on a bunch of stuff. I'm so fortunate that I can just go on Instagram and see what they have in stock and they are wonderful about pulling pieces for me ahead of time! All of their clothing is great quality. The new pieces that they sell are all incredibly unique and so versatile. Their Consignment offerings are wonderful as well. They only resell clothing that is in exceptional condition and on-trend. The staff here is wonderful! I have developed a relationship with the owner over the last several months and every time I walk in she will hand pick pieces in my size and my biggest problem is choosing only a few pieces to buy because almost everything I try on looks wonderful! It's so refreshing to walk into a small local business and find beautiful unique clothing! I don't really shop anywhere else anymore because I don't need two! Whether it's a special occasion and I need a formal peace, or I just want to freshen up my wardrobe for the season they have everything you could possibly want!
