Service- amazing!! As someone who buys her clothes off of Amazon when the old ones are in tatters, I was a bit intimidated going into this shop. But a dress on a mannequin was too beautiful to pass up and I worked up the courage to ask about it. The saleswomen, Deanna (sp?) and Linda, were so welcoming & friendly. Deanna immediately started collecting her recommendations for me upon learning I was going to Hawaii soon, and put me in the dressing room with a bunch of dresses and bralettes. (She taught me about the bralette that's "worn to be seen", never heard of that before!) They were all thoughtful selections & she got me other sizes etc when I asked. I ended up buying 2 of her selections. They were also just unboxing a new product (the rose / patriotic shirt), and I snagged that as well. I loved the "personal shopper" experience!! Deanna was the best. (Side note: I came in in kinda grungy clothes/ shoes and definitely didn't look like I was about to drop some $ but Deanne treated me like royalty.) Style: majorly boho. Value: pretty great! The black floral dress I tried on & loved didn't have a tag. I figured it'd be over $100, comparing other items I was trying on (none of them were $100, but this dress just looked & felt WAY more expensive)... but it was only about $65. It was a hot day out and the owner (an older woman) came screaming at me and my partner because I put a "womens hat" on his head. It was a black leather cowboy hat with silver lining. It did not look at all "feminine." She was VERY RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL. I recommend you shop elsewhere. Other stores hats were better quality, and they were much more professional. read more

The bad reviews about eccentric staff members crack me up! Lighten up, people. This is an absolutely adorable small family business. Their clothes and accessories are so beautiful and unique. This is one of my favorite boutiques in Historical Folsom that I just love, love, love.... The clothing is unique, well-made, and imported from around the globe. The owner and his daughter are some of sweetest people I have encountered. They know their merchandise and if you can't find a size they go to the rack and they pull out your size and it fits perfectly. The prices are pretty reasonable and you won't show up at the party with someone wearing the same outfit. The inventory is always changing so you need to go often or buy that top that day because it may be gone tomorrow. One of the weirdest experiences I've ever had. Elderly man who is or related to the shop owner seemed agitated as soon as we walked in. Began complaining about Shein and "wanting to go after them" for selling cheap products that look like his. He ranted that he could build a deck out the back and turn it into a bar and clear more money easily but his daughter won't let him. He was mad at Sunglass Hut for selling sunglasses like his for $800. It was getting weirder with every word. My friend tried in a dress and when she came out to show us, she pointed to the fit and shared she wasn't comfortable. He seemed to get offended and told her that "what that means is you should probably lose some weight " he started to brag that at 73 he stays at 225 lbs because he "doesn't keep his mouth full of food" . I was shocked that he thinks it's okay to comment on a woman's body or weight. At this point I put the shirt down that I was going to buy and walked out. He followed behind telling me to hang up the shirt and that I could go to Walmart and buy the same one for $1. I have no idea which side of the argument this guy was on. I see others have had similar unhinged experiences in this shop. read more

They've been in business for 30 plus years and have gifts (and things for yourself) for everyone- from cute bralettes and tanks, scarfs and warm hats and gloves (super fun sets), and the jewelry and purses! I purchased a cute bling mask (less than$15) and earrings (also less than$15). I hardly had enough time to look at everything so I'll be back my next trip into Folsom!! read more

Oh my gosh ! I want to keep my 'new find' for clothing a secret...but I can't ! On my hairdressers suggestion, I went to old Folsom to do some clothes shopping. I stopped in to a boutique (I won't mention the name) who was nice but more interested in her business paperwork. I then walked a little further down and come into the BEST STORE EVER (Firehouse Clothing) !! The store owner was putting away incoming inventory and was holding up a dress with a cover up on a hanger and I told her "I want that" ! She then proceeded to show me other styles and combinations that fit my (picky) style. I love that she knows what she is talking about and puts clothing pieces together that are just amazing ! Would have never thought !! Proud business owner and knows her stuff. Being a small business owner with my husband, I think its important to let people know when you are happy with a small business and their customer service so others can also reap the benefit of enjoying the same experience.....I just had an awesome time !! read more

Beautiful tops, dresses, purses & jewelry. Good prices. I found the cutest little leather purse with a flower on it. They even had some sterling silver Mickey ears earrings. The gentelmen running the store was very nice. He said he puts stuff out at random, so the store is probably different every time you drop by. Not everything is marked, so you sometimes have to ask how much an item is. There is a huge mix of in-expensive to true (pricey) imports. read more

I went to the Firehouse to find a gift for a friend and didn't want to leave. It is literally an orgy of the senses. Victorian theme is large here, and the detail on many of the products is breathtaking. The shoes alone are worth coming for. It's true, it is small and dark. However, I think the dark actually complements the feel and tone of the store, and as for small, they have managed to pack as much product into the space they have to work with as possible. You can stand in one spot and ooh and ah forever. There is just so much to look at. I recommend going during the week, when there isn't as much "store traffic", because you will want to just stand and take in all the goodies. The prices are reasonable, sometimes surprisingly good, and BONUS! they also carry some gorgeous things in full-figured sizes. There is just so much to see and drool over, and the owner and her daughter are personable and helpful. It was a wonderful, wonderful visit, and I cannot wait to go again! Just strolling down Sutter St. Is a pleasing experience in this 1850 mining town. The Firehouse dress and accessories shop is a darling place to lose yourself for a half hour or so. There are many quality items like Jess and Jane Tops, lots of hand crocheted items, fans made of real peacock feathers.. All among lots of bling . . Really interesting. Beautiful and unique clothing that makes you feel gorgeous! A lot of the items are either from Europe, or made in the USA. :) You won't find clothing like this elsewhere. The customer service at this store is awful. I walked in about 2 weeks ago with a friend and neither of us was greeted, acknowledged, or welcomed. Tip for the staff/ management: if you're in retail, you increase your sales by saying hello to your customers, offering assistance, and smiling at them warmly. read more

I posted a review in August and I find it interesting it's not on Yelp anymore. The owner probably paid to have it removed. He is rude and very condescending. I tried to exchange a necklace and he berated me and told me "out of all his half a million dollar inventory I couldn't find something I like?" And made other negative comments in front of other customers. Believe the other posts when they say the clothes are flea market quality at best. He tells the same stories to everybody that comes in that he buys his merchandise from Europe and it's three times more expensive at the Galleria and blah blah blah. There are no stores at the Galleria that would sell that crap. If you want to be Verbally abused then that is the store for you! read more

This place is wonderful! It's located in the old Firehouse on Sutter Street. Yes it's small, but it's packed with fun purses and lots of different jewelry to choose from. The prices are very reasonable! Very nice people too. They have been in Folsom for 22 years, and this is the first time I've ever been! There's no doubt I'll go back again and again. RUDE AND INAPPROPRIATE OWNERS I was shopping with my friend and we were looking at hats. The owners daughter (the only sane one in there) told me they were unpacking a boxful of hats. I politely asked the owner where the hats were and she snapped "I put them away". Well I was taken aback by her rude response but overlooked it. I then saw the box of hats and started trying some on. I found one I liked and was going to buy it. Suddenly crazy owner grabbed hat out of my hand and stared walking away. I again politely asked if I could have the had please. Crazy stomps over to daughter and hands them to her and says "I don't like her she's rude". At this point I couldn't understand or believe what I was hearing! I then decided to show crazy what rude was and I threw a few hats on the ground and said " now that's rude lady". She screamed "You B*tch! I mean screaming !! I walked out of the store. I'm keeping my promise to them as I did calmly tell them they would see themselves on yelp. I feel I must help out my fellow shoppers. I honestly have no idea why crazy had it in for me. Perhaps she had not taken her meds? Suffice it to say they are overpriced and low quality and low class. They will tell you every time you pick something up that they just got that from Europe last week... Blah Blah Blah. Lies... I do have a happy ending. I found the same hat cheaper at DSW and have also seen it Target. Walk past this place not in!!! read more

This is a great store to shop. My friend and I just happened upon it and we spent at least an hour and half in the store. The owner was very friendly and accommodating. She showed us lots of cloths and we tried on all of it. My friend bought a lot of the things she tried on and I plan on returning to purchase the things I really liked. The clothes were different and great colors. I'm not sure what some of these other people are saying that is negative, but I did not see that at all. I went in to exchange a necklace my girlfriend bought me for my birthday as it just wasn't me, and I tried really hard to find something I liked. After looking for 30 min. the elderly man said I could not get a refund, even though I had the receipt and box it came in, and that my girlfriend would have to come back and put it on her card. The old man then started berating me by saying "I have been in business for 35 years, and have a million dollars in inventory and YOU can't find what you want." " If you go to the Galleria these items are three times as expensive." Well, I have never seen a shop like his at The Galleria and there is a reason for that. He then added, "I have been in business 35 years and have had many satisfied customers and you just can't please some people!" referring to me. I told him politely everyone has their own style, (I should have said and mine is quality. ) The jewelry and clothes are overpriced and not well made in my opinion. I was going to keep the necklace, but not now on general principals I will have my girlfriend return it. I will NEVER step foot in that store again. I agree 100% with the bad comments above. Make sure you want what you buy because if you have to return it you will be verbally assaulted. read more

My mother and I fell in love with this store and its purveyors many years ago. We now live over thirty miles away but always visit during the annual Folsom holiday street fair in December. The selection of clothing, jewelry and more is extraordinary and the prices are most reasonable. My mother now suffers from Alzheimer's and has lost much of her enjoyment of life, but yesterday was a different story. She actually remembered this establishment and had a great time looking through their inventory with me. When she got excited about purchasing a beautiful vest it brought tear to my eyes, and the fact she still liked it when I showed it to her this morning was amazing. We will definitely be making the drive to Firehouse Gifts & Clothing much more often during the coming year. It is good for my mother and both our closets! read more
