From the moment I entered, I felt comforted. The staff members were kind, sympathetic, SUPER HELPFUL & warm. I found it odd that the loss was mine, but they genuinely were empathetic towards my loss. The owner, Ms. Dennis, gave the same feelings and I truly understand why the staff had the compassion they did; it was because SHE DID!!!! Her heart is wide and vast. She's friendly, knowledgeable, kind, helpful, gentle as a lamb, able to work with anyone... By far this was the most warming experience of this nature I've ever had. WHEN you have to bury a loved one, I recommend this facility & Ms. Dennis; she is excellent in all that she does. God bless her for all that she does. Street parking and off street parking.

We enjoyed walking around the cemetery and seeing the unique tombs and challenges that Louisiana…read morehas in burying the dead due to their swampy conditions. This cemetery is in the Garden District of New Orleans and was founded in the early 1800s. It is still an active cemetery and currently houses over a thousand tombs. It's one of the unique and historical cemeteries in the area and also one of the less touristy. It's really interesting to read the tombstones and see how many individuals died so young during these centuries due to disease and allows you to really appreciate modern medicine as well as the sanitation conditions that we enjoy here in the United States. We were there about an hour before the gates close and it was rather obnoxious that the security guard started that early driving around on a golf cart and megaphoning at everyone walking about. However, I suppose it must be difficult to get people to comply with the hours. I read online that the cemetery has been closed late last year due to the poor condition of the graves and needing renovation. Hopefully they will be able to restore this beautiful piece of history and reopen it soon.

St. Joseph Cemeteries are actually several different cemeteries, but they have one thing in common. They're all run down and littered with trash. These are not the tourist draws that Metarie and St. Louis are, but they do have interesting tombs. On my most recent trip I got the feeling that I was being watched. Not by ghosts, but by the locals roaming up and down the streets. Some bicyclists seemed to be paying extra attention to me while I took photos. I couldn't tell of they were just curious or trying to determine if I would be an easy target. I didn't wait around to find out. Like many of the other cemeteries, this one is maintained by the archdiocese. They really do a poor job of keeping this one up. There were several tombs busted open and trash strewn across the grounds. If you're interested in cemeteries you may find it interesting here just make sure and bring a scary looking companion.
