BBA IMPERIAL BROWN ALE (13.0% ABV with toasted coconut, cocoa nibs, and coffee flavors, dessert-like nuttiness, and a toffee candy finish)
    Scott T.

on warm summer days (and yesterday's smoldering, mid-July heat climbed into the mid seventies), I typically gravitate toward lighter, often unfiltered wheat beers with an orange slice. yeah, I know frilly. deal. but the low, sweet siren song of a chewy dark ale summoned me the moment I strolled into Mother Earth's tasting room. after a thorough evaluation of the beer menu, settled on the BBA IMPERIAL BROWN ALE. wowza. great pairing with the Ohana Mix Plate and Kalua Pork Sandwich from guest pop-up Ohana Street Bites. the following was shamelessly plagiarized from the Mother Earth Brew Co. website: BBA IMPERIAL BROWN ALE [13.0% 35 IBU] layered in toasted coconut, cocoa nibs, and Papua New Guinea Arabica coffee beans with caramel and roasted malts. A silky brew with dessert-like flavors, a nuanced nuttiness, and toffee candy finish. I got nothing to add. one of my favorite beers. EVER. EVER. EVER.

Mother Earth has my favorite beers! I love going here with friends because they usually have Bingo, trivia, or an awesome food truck. All of the workers are friendly and always willing to let you try something before you get a pour. I like this location because it's chill and hidden off of Thibodo road. I will always continue supporting Mother Earth! I loved their old location in Vista Village and I love this newer location. They also have yogas on Sundays! I have been going the past two weeks and it has been such a relaxing vibe. Definitely check out Mother Earth if you like trying new beers and good vibes!

I have been to over 50 breweries in CA and spend a lot of vacation time in northern San Diego County. On my first trip to Mother Earth these folks are clearly among my favorites! Low-key digs and not pretentious or trying to be anyone else, they clearly spend their efforts on their beers...and it shows! The tap list accommodate all styles, and their "high-end" barrel-aged beers were done well. There are indeed a lot of breweries to visit in Vista...but Mother Earth should be at the top of your list.

I am so happy this place is open now! They share a really cool tasting room with Lost Abbey so it's like the wonder twins of good beer. Note: each spot has its own register due to regulations, so don't yell at the staff for that. The beer tender was amazing. It was near closing but we were treated well. Not rushed or anything and we had some good tasters. Made me remember how much I missed their beer. They do have food trucks sometimes too. For good beer at a good place check them out.

Happy Grand Re-opening Mother Earth! After quite a lengthy hiatus, Mother Earth has an all new taproom in Vista. & they're right back where it all began, in the building with their original brewery. I have to admit, I missed having a place to go for Mother Earth beers on tap. I'm certainly glad to see them back. On day 1 back in town, the place is jumpin'. It's nice to see word got out as 1 of the OG's of the Hop Highway is absolutely worth supporting. To christen the new taproom, a shared space w/ Lost Abbey, I got a taster flight of a couple of their new beers & a couple classics. It was all good. Of course. As always. Service was friendly. Live music was boomin'. The crowd had a lively vibe. URBN pizza was out back with a popup. The space itself is pretty standard industrial brewery taproom setup. Welcome back to Vista, Mother Earth. Though you never really left, it's great seeing you here again.

Craft beer galore! Mother Earth has very accessible craft beer to meet everyone's tastes. The BooKoo IPA can be enjoyed even by those who may typically not like IPAs. The Cali Truck is also a delicious blend of their 2 best beers - Cali Creamin' and Milk Truck. Lost Abbey also has taps in the tasting room. You order at a different register. Nice selection of Belgian and darker beers. Always tough to choose what to drink! Both serve some snacks (pretzels, popcorn, chips) and have some non-alcoholic options like sparkling water, Izzy, and non-alcoholic beer. Lots of tables. Occasionally there will be a food truck. Bathrooms are always clean.

Street parking only, but wasn't too hard to find a spot as we came early. The restaurant is very nice and looks new. There is two dining rooms one towards the front near the bar area, and another in the back. We sent in the front for brunch. The menu had a good variety of items, and we decided to go with the chilaquiles and the shrimp and grits. I love Shrimp and grits, and it's not too common on menu's so i has to try it. The dish had pork belly instead of bacon, and shrimp. THe texture of the grits was very good, not too runny or too thick. The shrimp seemed good quality and not chewy or rubbery. I really enjoyed the dish and would order it again. The chilaquiles were an interesting take, not at all what you're normal chilaquiles would be. They come with lamb but we substituted with chicken. They were covered with a type of hollandaise sauce and we both thought they were good. I also ordered a breakfast shot that had bourbon in it, and a piece of pork belly on the top, and a shot of orange juice. It was pretty strong and very good. I would definitely order this one again, and the piece of pork belly they added on top was perfect. I can't wait to go back to check out their happy hour, it looks like they have an awesome menu, and they even do it on the weekends.

My husband and I were consistently blown away throughout the meal. We had a few cocktails (one was the verde) and all of them were exceptionally crafted, balanced and well priced. What really shocked us was how good the food was. These were chef driven dishes with phenomenal flavor profiles and execution. Genuinely was blown away by the charred broccoli and the cabbage dish. I would venture to say I preferred the broccoli dish here than to somewhere like Campfire. On that final note, I'll say we typically go to State street or Encinitas/Solana/Oceanside for our date nights but please, give this place a try. They were so so good! 10/10 from two vegetarians

Comfortable and casual. Many sign posted about disruptive kids and pets. It was early on a Monday evening, so I don't know if they enforce or not. The fish and chips were cooked very well. The flavor was good on the fish. The fries were crispy. My only disappointment is they served the malt vinegar on small portion cups instead of the shaker bottle. Hard to get an even spread. The pazole and the Cole slaw were both very good. Our server was attentive and friendly. They have water stations - coolers with cups stacked nearby. To me, the water tasted old ( I know -makes no sense). It had a very earthy note to it like the coolers weren't adequately cleaned. Would definitely go back!!

The bartender/manager approached me and told me I needed to buy a drink or a wristband to sit at a table. I acknowledged him and understood. I am not a drinker, but I was there for the dancing and atmosphere. Two songs later, he came back again and told me I had to buy a drink in order to stay. His tone was rude and not friendly, which made the situation even more uncomfortable. Being approached repeatedly as a single woman sitting alone felt unprofessional and unwelcoming. I came out looking for something new to enjoy on a Sunday night and instead felt pressured to leave. As someone involved in other dance communities, I will be sharing how unwelcoming this place is for newcomers--especially those who don't drink.
