I was disappointed with the washable masks. They are very small so they press on my nose and are really tight around my ears and actually pull my ear forward to the point the mask slips off. Can't wear them if they don't stay on. They are not domed enough to offer room for someone's nose. Their is one positive - the masks have a pocket for a filter. But if it won't stay on what's the point. I've tried contacting them by voice message and email to ask for a refund, but they have not responded. read more

I love Mother Earth Pillows and products. I have the sinus pillow and neck pillow. Can't wait to buy the big pillow for the back. My salon uses these during massage sessions. I loved them so much I had to buy them for my home. I travel with the sinus pillow and left it in my hotel. As soon as I realized I had left it behind, I had to buy another one. The essential oils are the best too. I love breathe for my sinuses and the headache formula for migraines. Quality products! read more

I have purchased several pillows from Mother Earth and it is my favorite item to give as a gift to friends and family. I have three in my freezer and 3 that I use for my neck, back and shoulders for heat therapy and pain relief. So grateful for this product! My dog loves to lay on them too! read more

I love this company and their products! Through migraines, aches, pains, and just needing to relax, these pillows are the only ones we use. I was just in Missouri on a family trip and we stopped in the store. Angie was super helpful and took the time to explain the products and different scents. I ended up buying more than I meant to and don't regret that decision at all! read more

I am on my second Mother Earth Pillow. I purchased my recent pillow a little more than a year ago. I use it every morning on my neck and shoulders. Last week it began leaking seeds. There is no rip in it and when I wrote to the company they offered to sell me a new one at a 20% discount. All I want to know is how to repair it, not purchase a new one. Seems like someone who calls them self Mother Earth could help me figure this out. Well, I hope my dry cleaners can figure it out. And this will be the last Mother Earth product I ever buy! read more

History

Established in 1995.

Mother Earth Designs, Inc was founded in 1995 in Arnold, MO by Karen Kowal, a Registered Nurse and Nationally Certified Massage Therapist. Karen was actively involved for 30 years in the field of nursing, then became a Massage Therapist in 1994. She had searched for natural products for her own use after dealing with personal chronic pain. She began developing comfort products for her patients and massage clients that offer optimum support and the therapeutic qualities of HOT/COLD therapy. In August 2015, Karen sold the company to Laura Ortmann, the new owner. Laura is very excited to grow Mother Earth Pillows into a nationally-recognized, earth-friendly brand carried in major retailers, hospitals and well-known salons and spas. With a background in business ownership in the wellness industry, Laura has the business acumen and discipline to carry on the great legacy created by Karen for 20 years.

Laura is also the owner of the Ginger Bay Salons & Spas in St. Louis, with locations in Kirkwood and Town & Country, Missouri. Ginger Bay is a full service salon and spa for men and women and utilizes Mother Earth Pillows in the delivery of all of its salon and spa services. I did not make an appointment and I would suggest that you do. You have to give them your life story, blood type, and next of kin to make an appointment which is a bummer (exaggeration but they ask for a lot of info), but at least they don't require a credit card number like another local prom shop. First visit (without appointment), we were grumped at by the checkin staff, then assigned to a very grumpy, irritated, overworked sales person who did NOT want to help us. She was very unpleasant, and unfortunately they are required to stay by your side for the entirety of the appointment. She offered no assistance and just stood next to us glowering and chatting with other sales people about not wanting to be there. I am not naming names because everyone has a bad day, but we didn't enjoy the experience at all mostly due to working with her. The store has a pretty decent selection, but we went in March for a May event and they were already lowish on inventory. I was told that they don't have "stock" and what's on the floor is what they have, so I highly recommend finding out when they place orders and going in that month. Pressure to "buy today" is high but understandable given that the item you like really might be gone when you go back next. Prices were on the mid to high range. The cheapest dress I saw was $250 and I saw prices going into the 700/800/900 range. Definitely higher than departments stores, but better selection, fit, & quality. We didn't buy a dress on our first visit, partly because of the unpleasant sales lady. We went back after shopping several other places and did ultimately buy a dress here. I was disappointed that the commission for our purchase went to the person who helped us the first time because our second visit (with appointment) was much more pleasant, although since we were there specifically to buy, we didn't really get a sales person assigned on the second visit. The manager that helped us was lovely and the sales desk people were nice. I don't know if there are more inexpensive options earlier in the "season" so part of my reason for 3 stars is price and part of the reason is from that very unpleasant sales experience. For quality of dresses, I would put them at a 4.5 stars.
