    Cloud nine smoothie

Love their smoothies!! I always tell people they are an Erewhon dupe (see their cloud nine smoothie below... hehe). Love a local plant based place & their employees are awesome.

I've never been to a Mother Juice before and it was soo good! It's filling yet so refreshing. It was a perfect smoothie to get on a hot summer day. We were shopping on Newbury and wanted something quick but also something that could hold us over and after having these smoothies, we were so full! The ingredients tasted so fresh and delicious combined together. I go The Berries and my friend got The Berries + Cream. We both finished the entire thing. So so good. The inside is a little small but there's a chance you can snag a table. There are also two benches right by the entrance, as well as a table outside you can hangout at. For us, we got our smoothies and kept continuing down Newbury Street. :)

Mother Juice is a great place for healthy bowls, both sweet and savory. It's a small shop, but they do have some tables and seating inside. We built our own fruit bowl with the pink dragon base, adding sun butter, strawberries, bananas, hemp seeds, and quinoa puffs. It was a little pricey for a small bowl, but the ingredient quality was very good. My kid was a fan of the quinoa puffs, and it was a nice change from the usual granola in these types of bowls. For the savory bowl, we chose a bowl with roasted sweet potatoes, black rice, and a bunch of other vegetables. This was delicious. I really appreciated the person working there who, after seeing our small child, warned us that the dressing it came with was spicy, and suggested putting the (spicy) roasted cashews on the side. We swapped the dressing for a not-spicy cilantro lime, and it was a great match. That attention to detail and knowledge of the menu isn't something you find everywhere.

Great quick salads and healthy shakes, I wish they had more options for protein and creatine, not too many places to choose from on Newbury so this will do. Staff is nice and polite. I Order the Ginger Green, also they only have one size, med average cup, the taste wasn't bad but not delicious. 7.6 out of 10 for taste.

I've come in several times within the past week and a half as I recently started working in the area. Every time I have left happy with my order. Açaí bowl has been my goto. Love how freshly prepared each bowl is, filling enough to be a lunch, and a good alternative to some of the heavier options in the area. The staff is friendly. There are five small tables inside as well as one outside so it's a nice atmosphere to sit and enjoy your meal and time.

Eh, nothing special, you know? Got the mango green smoothie which wasn't a refreshing, thick, juicy drink like you'd hope...but it wasn't bad. (It was a bit watery though, oh and on the warmer side too--eh). Pricey run of the mill hipster green smoothies and on Newbury at that, so don't expect cheap drinks. Pretty expensive. You could totally make something better at home. A whole blender-full for the same amount of money. But for the experience?! Sip away! Sure, why not. Oh. And their plastic straws are biodegradable if that tickles your fancy.

Had a yummy lunch here today. I ordered the taco bowl and the portion was HUGE. I was able to sub kale for spinach, and the walnut "meat" was deliciously flavorful. The restaurant itself is cute, but seating is limited and the tables outside are kind of awkward. It was also ridiculously loud inside, so it was tough to talk to each other. I didn't order any juice, but it did seem pretty pricey (almost $10 for a cup). I would consider coming again for lunch if I was in the area, but probably wouldn't go out of my way to come here.

I love Mother Juice! They have plenty of delicious vegan options including baked goods. The service at this location has always been great! There are a few tables inside and a few outside in summer.

    Christine J.

Portion has significantly reduced to 2/3 or less for the açaí bowls. Inconsistent taste as well. They have so much potential and should be getting better as a business. Hoping they'll come around as I'll still go from time to time hoping for good changes.

Quite the interior with all of the plants on the wall. More importantly, the "Life on Mars" smoothie bowl I ordered was amazing! I've had plenty of bowls, usually Nekter (the California benchmark for smoothie bowls), and this beats theirs on flavor. It tastes very refreshing. I especially loved the quality of all of the ingredients, especially the toppings. There was almond butter, whole almonds, granola, coconut, blueberries and strawberries. My only negative comment would be that the portion is on the smaller side for the price paid.

Life Alive Organic Cafe is a plant-based café that focuses on fresh, organic meals made with…read morewholesome ingredients. While the menu is entirely vegetarian with many vegan options, it feels approachable whether you are looking for a healthy lunch, a filling dinner, or just a smoothie or coffee. We walked into the Back Bay location, which has a bright, inviting interior filled with natural light, plants, and plenty of seating, creating a calm atmosphere that feels more like a neighborhood café than a typical fast-casual restaurant. The design is modern and clean, with a warm energy that makes it the kind of place where you can enjoy a meal at your own pace, meet a friend, or even spend some time working. The grain and noodle bowls are the main reason to visit. They are built around fresh vegetables, whole grains, legumes, and flavorful sauces that make each bowl feel substantial without being overly heavy. We appreciated that every ingredient tasted fresh, and the different textures kept each bite interesting. The spicy peanut noodles are one of the standout dishes, combining chewy noodles with crisp vegetables and a rich, savory sauce that has just enough heat without overwhelming the rest of the flavors. The falafel is another solid choice, with a crispy exterior and soft interior that pairs well with the fresh vegetables and creamy sauces. Beyond the bowls, there is a good variety of options depending on what you are in the mood for. The menu includes açaí bowls, salads, wraps, soups, smoothies, fresh juices, and coffee, making it easy to stop by at almost any time of day. The menu also changes with seasonal ingredients, giving returning visits some variety while still keeping the café's focus on fresh, healthy food. Even if you are not vegetarian, the meals are filling enough that they never feel like they are missing anything. The café itself has a relaxing atmosphere that encourages you to stay a while. The modern design, abundance of plants, and comfortable seating make it feel much more welcoming than many grab-and-go lunch spots in the area. The ordering process is straightforward, and the staff were friendly throughout our visit. During busier lunch hours, food can take a little longer to prepare since everything is made to order, so keeping that in mind is worth it if you are on a tight schedule. The seating area stays comfortable even when the café fills up, and the energy of the room remains calm and focused. Life Alive Organic Cafe stands out because it proves that healthy food can still be satisfying and full of flavor. The fresh ingredients, diverse menu, and comfortable atmosphere make it an easy place to return to whether you are looking for a quick lunch, a lighter dinner, or simply a break from heavier meals. If you are in Back Bay and want a meal that feels nourishing without sacrificing taste, this is a café well worth adding to your list.

We walked into a relaxed space with a consistently friendly and engaged staff, making the experience feel more personal than a typical fast casual stop. The acai bowl is the foundation of the menu and it delivers reliably, with the base thick enough to hold the toppings without turning into soup partway through. The Nutella bowl is the most popular order, and the combination of the rich spread against the acai base works in a way that feels indulgent without completely undermining the healthier premise of the meal. The mango bowls are a lighter, brighter option for anyone who wants something less earthy than the acai, and the Nica Bowl is another solid choice for a more composed build. The customization options are generous and the staff is helpful in steering you toward combinations that work if you are unsure where to start. Prices land in the eleven to thirteen dollar range, which is on the higher side for the format, though the quality of the fruit and the portion sizes make it feel reasonable once you are eating it. For a post workout meal or a lighter lunch option near Northeastern, Playa Bowls is an easy and reliable choice.

As I walked in, the staff member at the counter was on her Bluetooth headphones and having a full conversation with a friend while simultaneously trying to take down someone's order. It was confusing to everyone involved and took some time. Same when I ordered, and it looked like another friend had come in and joined her behind the counter to chat (didn't see any sign of this person working there, but I may be wrong). Oh well, a bit of an awkward ordering process is not a big deal. The bowl itself was actually really tasty. It was a bit sweet for my taste, but it was large and satiating. I'd definitely recommend! Quick note that if you are needing the bathroom, I'd wait until your next stop. It was one pretty dirty stall and left me wondering if I should have eaten there... Overall, a good product, but the service and cleanliness of the facility left something to be desired.

My boyfriend and I stopped in for an early dinner before walking around the city. We happened to be visiting during a heat wave weekend, which made our plans a little challenging, but we still made it work. For dinner, I was hungry but not sure I had enough of an appetite for both an appetizer and a meal. I ended up ordering the tofu skewers anyway because they sounded interesting, and they came with peanut sauce. For my main, I ordered the mushroom shawarma pita, which included roasted mushrooms, caramelized onions, hummus, Mediterranean salad mix, shaved vegetables, herbs, harissa zhoug, and lemon tahini sauces in a whole grain pita. The pita was described as a low-calorie handheld, but it was packed to the brim. It looked beautiful, but I definitely could not finish it. I made it through one pita half and some of the filling from the second half before calling it quits. There were just a lot of flavors going on. I think it would have been easier to enjoy if the dish had focused on one or two flavor profiles instead of feeling like everything was packed into one pita. Overall, it was good, filling, and satisfying. I also had a kombucha with my meal, which was my attempt at trying to keep cool on a hot summer evening.
