I needed a new harness for my energetic dog. They invited me to bring her into the store, and helped with choosing and fitting. Properly, allowed me to walk her around the store to check out how well it worked. Definitely made the sale! On the way home, I stopped and walked my dog in a high arousal environment: the Nelson swamp unique area boardwalk! Their knowledge and helpfulness were outstanding. The walk was non-stressful! If you love Trader Joe's, your pet will love Mother Nature! Holy gemstone! I went here on a whim because we just rescued another dog and have gone through more treats in one week than we typically go through in 6 months. I wasn't sure what to expect but I was blown away! It's in a small plaza in Manlius-- like all plazas, it can be hard to find the store you're looking for when their store fronts all look the same. Parking is easy though. First sniff through the front door and I'm already happy. You can't tell by the smell that you're in a pet store! Seriously, not a whiff (and I have the nose of a Bassett Hound)! It's so clean and tidy-- I not only felt excited but also relaxed! Not overwhelmed or panicked by the options. Ok, speaking of options! Sooooo many things caught my eye immediately. Natural treats and chews, adorable toys and clothes, all your pet dental needs and my new favorite-- an entire section of pet calming remedies (hello new and anxious rescue!). I'm not sure if it was the owner or an employee that rang me out but regardless, they were so friendly and helpful and even let me know that the product I was specifically looking for would be in in a week! Perfect-- I'm definitely coming back! Both my dogs LOVED the sweet potato chews and pumpkin training treats I got. They also allow dogs inside! Pro dog tip: if your dog hates the snow/rain/ice and needs to get a little mental stimulation, bring them to a pet store! 20-30 minutes roaming around there will give them what they need. read more

I was glad to find Mother Nature on Yelp as I was visiting family during the holidays and needed to get more food for my cats (when we are on vacation, they definitely pig out more). This store is a great addition to the F-M area. They carry many of the high quality food brands my cats eat and the prices are actually better (I cross-referenced receipts from home). The person who helped me may have been the owner. He was very nice. I like that they offer a store card for racking up points to save on future purchases. I'd definitely come here again. read more

While driving around on Small Business Saturday, this place caught my and my wifes eye. We have two dogs who we treat as our kids, and it's always been a dream of mine to open my own pet supply shop, so we knew we wanted to stop in afterwards. Glad we did. Mother Nature is a pet supply shop located in a small strip mall in the town of Manlius. It's a decent sized shop, very nicely decorated and homey feeling with wood floors. Plenty of stuff to look at, from toys to food to treats to behavioral tools. They have stuff you can find in the big chain stores, but a ton of stuff you can't. Foods, collars, treats from a ton of smaller companies that are definitely made with better ingredients than stuff you'll find at chain stores. With the way we treat our pets these days, isn't that what we all want? Better quality items for our fur kids? There was only one employee there who I think owns the place. Very nice guy, didn't catch his name, but he helped us find a couple things. He is definitely knowledgable about the products they carry. They have a little reward program you can sign up for, and he even gave us some free samples of jerk treats. We live pretty far from Manlius, but whenever we're out that way, we'll definitely be stopping back in! read more

I came to the store to prepare for receiving two puppies. I asked the clerk for chew toys and when I declined his first suggestion, he pointed to another display and then walked away. It was my first time in the store and there were no other customers. I needed both supplies and advice and the sales clerk ignored me to the point of rudeness. He didn't act like he was interested in dogs, their care or their owners. Give me the excited, knowledgeable kids at the box stores anytime! And the prices are better1 read more

This is one of my favorite businesses in the area, full stop. They have a wide variety of items, especially for their store size. They have very convenient hours. The staff/owners are always welcoming, always helpful, and always appreciative of your business. The owners are frequently looking for new products at trade shows etc - so be on the lookout for something new every time you visit. I also think it is great how they work with local humane societies to promote adoption. read more

Bought a bag of dog food on 9/1 - both of our dogs ended up sick after eating from the fresh bag. We looked at the bag and found it had a best by date of 9/2021? I called and spoke with one of the owners, who blamed it on the manufacturer and distribution. When I asked if they check the bags of food to be sure they aren't putting out expired products prior to putting on the shelf - I was told no - and again, the owner did not take any culpability and instead pointed the finger at the manufacturer/distributor. We brought the expired bag back which they replaced at no cost (which we did appreciate or this review would be different) and so they could return to the manufacturer - but didn't offer up any sort of apology, or discount given what our dogs went though, due to the expired product they put on their shelf. I understand there can be issues with distribution - however, in my opinion, it is the responsibility of the store to ensure products are not being put on the shelf that is a year over their best by date. For the price of the food, and the nature and size of the store, my expectations were more. Lesson learned to make sure to look at the date on the bag. If you do buy from them, please be sure to look at the date of the product. read more
