This place is AMAZING. I took the 3-day Level 1 course and am still thinking and dreaming about it a week later. Every part of my experience was stellar - from my conversations with the administrative staff before even signing up to the last moments on the track with the smell of burning rubber which had become oh-so-sweet to me. The background of the students can vary from no experience in stunts (me) to professionally working stuntpeople (some of my classmates), but the instructors explain and show what you'll be doing so that everyone understands. Their feedback is tailored for where you are while coaxing the best out of you, and if it's taking longer to click, they will patiently work with you until it does, never expressing frustration (even if you do) and reminding you to have fun. It's apparent, the passion for what they do as well as the expertise that comes only from thousands of hours of studying and practicing a skill, and they are generous with their hard-earned knowledge. The value of the cost of the course is a no-brainer. It makes sense because of the cost of materials alone (e.g., blown tires, serious wear and tire on the cars, fuel, track time, insurance), but the real value (nay, steal) is in what they share and how they share it, because it empowers you to create these unforgettable experiences that will far outlast however long it would've taken you to spend those few thousand dollars. What an absolute blast! The 'Experience' MPDC offers is certainly a gateway drug to wanting to take the full course because it offers a chance to quickly and expertly try out fun and technical driving that have will have you sliding around the test track in no time. Never having experienced stunt driving myself, other than being a stupid teenager decades ago, I found the instructions thorough and encouraging. The instructors really want you to learn and feel how to drive properly. They tirelessly keep encouraging drivers with critical feedback to improve while still remaining positive and encouraging. As someone who teaches photography to beginners, I understand the patience that has to go into making a program like this successful for the students so they learn safely how to perform at their best. I attended the three day, level 1 class and it was an amazing experience. The first thing that surprised me after day one is feeling so exhausted from the driving. The first day on the track the instructors are telling me to go faster while trying to gain my confidence in the car. By the final day, I am going in reverse, full speed, pedal touching the floor and throwing the car around in a reverse 180. You won't be sorry by investing your time and effort into this class. Now owned & run by Ryan Sturz, his teaching style comes from his mash-up of being a driving instructor and working stuntman with practical experience. From Day 1 of the 3-day course you'll be behind the wheel learning maneuvers that are also applicable to everyday driving. He's very patient, fosters healthy competition, and will adapt his speed to ensure all of his students absorb the tons of information the class involves. I never felt unsafe or that I wasn't prepared for what to expect. Students will also have the benefit of other MPDC instructors in the vehicles with them for ride-alongs to show/talk you through the proper technique. I had Bryan & Jessi in the car with me at different times; Bryan will talk you through it and is very loud & encouraging, while Jessi is very methodical and will study your technique to make suggestions. Different styles, great results - and you get the sense that they're still learning how to work with different students too, so there's no ego at the school. Admin is very organized, run by Olivia. They're very responsive by email & phone. All in all A+ experience and cannot wait for level 2. Couple of things to remember: 1) It IS far from LA, so if you don't want to commute maybe consider getting a hotel or staying with someone closer over the 3 days. 2) There are no full bathroom facilities near the track, just a porta potty. So bring hand sani/wipes/be prepared! 3) It is in the middle of the desert, so it gets hot and/or cold. Dress for weather. Bring sunscreen/water. AND, since it's out of town, I recommend bringing a bagged lunch/snacks instead of driving a ways to get to any food options. read more

Before coming here, I would usually just head on over to Hertz or Enterprise, pay the twelve dollars extra for insurance a day and make a weekend out of seeing how much damage those little Kia's or Subaru's could take. Not very much might I add. Once the rental facilities got wise, and a few court appearances later, my car rental privileges were forever revoked. Thanks to Motion Picture Driving Clinic, I no longer have to risk going back to jail or laying low on the lamb, and simply focus on what God intended for me to focus on, and that's driving like a demon in hell. Hell being Rosamond, because that is a place that you don't want to live in, but a place well worth honing your soon to be amazing driving skills. Coming here was an absolute blast and I learned so much. I wish I had done it sooner. I look forward to taking future courses asap. Ryan, Chris, and the other instructors curated a seamless experience and I was deeply impressed by their knowledge, savviness, and tact. Thanks to the ample seat-time and Ryan's highly-attentive coaching style, I left after 3 days of Level 1 feeling more satisfied than I could've expected.
